...And people wonder why I "abandoned" the "democrat party" the day JFK was assinated and the step-father of American socialists (after FDR), one Lyndon Bains Johnson from my home state of Texas, became president of the U.S.A.

"It is amazing to me how quickly the liberal media forgets the legacy left by the Clintonites-trashing public party as part of your exit strategy"

I think the media was so thrilled to have a true socialist president that they were and are willing to overlook anything.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and swims like a duck... innuendo isn't going to change it, even if it were clever innuendo.

Excellent comments.

Your sentiments continue today and the California recall is a prime example. McClintock (a real conservative) is thrown to the dogs because he's un-electable.
The Republican party is orchestrating Ahnold's surge. To me personally, that's a damned sell-out of conservative principals if I've ever seen one.

My Dad's a democrat and he doesn't hate America.

So's my mom and my brother. I think one of the points made in the article is that your Dad, my Mom, etc., are unwittingly supporting the party's agenda, which, though cloaked very well in feel good rhetoric, in practice is Marxist and therefore wrong for America.

Isn't calling all government programs Marxism the same as my dropping Hitlers name earlier in this post when I see the word traitor?

Probably, yes, on the 2 words.

I just meant that I agree with the article's point that there are 2 types of Democrats: the elite leaders who understand they are leading us to socialism and totalitarianism, and the "liberal" followers, who think that by voting Democrat they are looking out for the little guy.

Well, I guess I see a more colorful mix in the 10's of millions of democrats in this country. The gay agenda is certainly different from the labor agenda which is very different from the black agenda which is very different from the feminism agenda which is very different from the tree hugger agenda. I hear many of the same fears of oppression from "the powers that be" from both sides. That seems to be a commonality though the various things they fear are different.

Which party was responsible for disregarding the Constitution and allowing the debacles at Waco and Ruby Ridge?

The Republicans. RR happened under Bush 1, didn't it? Waco began under Bush 1 and ended under Clinton.

Ever since I became interested in politics, I have been fascinated with why people politically lean the way that they do. People of above average intelligence can stand firmly on opposite sides of the aisle and be very passionate about their positions. After thinking about why this could be, I have finally reached some conclusions which I think help to explain political affiliation. Here are my observations:

Liberals are “idealists”, and Conservatives are “realists”.

With the help of the comments made by some liberals I have known over the years, I came to the conclusion that they would like to live in the ideal world, and many with behave as if our world is ‘ideal’. Here are two examples of phrases uttered by actual liberals.
1. “The US doesn’t need a military.” A liberal I know said this before the first Gulf war. In her lifetime, she, at that point, had never experienced out country at war. She was too young to remember Viet Nam. Now, Conservatives realize that the world is not perfect and that there will always be kooks out there ready to take away our freedom, not to mention our lives. Liberals, and rightly so, think that a military isn’t needed in a perfect world. They believe that by acting as if the world is perfect, the world will become perfect. This leads me to my second example.
2. While driving through the bowels of Philadelphia, my liberal friend said, “You know, I used to drive down here and leave the doors unlocked…. I didn’t want to believe that things were as bad as they are”. She had thought that by ignoring the problem, and pretending it didn’t exist, things would improve. Conservatives realize that the world is not perfect and we have learned to adapt. If you think about it, this above thought process could be applied to the gun issue. If there are no bad guys, why would we need hand guns?

Liberals live for the moment and don’t think about cause and effect. They believe very much that the ends justify the means.

This statement can be proven when looking at the abortion crowd and “ELF”. I had a very hard time trying to understand some people were not bothered by abortions. The mantra is, “it’s the woman’s right to choose”, “it’s her body”, etc, which I partly understand. Yet, we cannot do as we please with our bodies. We cannot assault other people, put illegal drugs in it, or even throw ourselves off a cliff without breaking the law. A young, unwed mother-to-be who doesn’t want to be a mother can get an abortion for whatever reasons she wants to attribute to the decision. It’s an immediate solution. Her ‘problem’ is fixed quickly and she is then allowed to go off to the mall with her friends, or whatever. Liberals think, “this woman doesn’t want to be pregnant, so she shouldn’t have to be”. I and many other conservatives look at the bigger picture. It’s true that young, single pregnant women receive many disapproving glances, but what about adoption? Liberals rarely think about adoption because they live for the moment. Instead of giving a life, they cause a death. If she were to undergo the glances during her pregnancy and give the child up for adoption, she then becomes a hero. She is a hero to the loving couple who most likely have been waiting years to adopt a child, and she is a hero to the child. If you were this woman a year later, would you feel better having the abortion or giving up your child? By what I have read, I would have to say that adoption is the better choice. I think this is very easy to see. Then, why can’t liberals see it? My only answer to this is they chose to only look at the moment, and not other results of their actions. This brings me to “ELF.”

“Earth Liberation Front” has recently drawn attention to themselves by defacing SUVs and burning down buildings. Their complaint being SUVs are evil and cause too much pollution. Their answer to this is committing crimes which appear to stem from their juvenile behavior. How much pollution did that burning building create? Do they care? Do they think that people will now be less likely to buy SUVs? It’s difficult to determine what motivates these people other than a deep hate for anyone adapting and surviving in this imperfect world (Conservatives). “ELF” could be more effective by treating their cause as a ‘business’, rather than resorting to gorilla warfare. For instance, the people of ELF could raise awareness for alternate fuel for cars (i.e. www.greasecar.com). They could convert their cars to burning used vegetable oil and try to convince others to do the same (I know someone who has two of these cars. They really work well). If all like-minded liberals drove these converted cars, think of all the gas they could save! They could take it a step farther and strain the oil themselves and sell it, using the proceeds to advertise and further their cause. Why don’t they do this? There is usually one of two reasons why people don’t do something. The first, they don’t have the skills or knowledge, or two, they don’t have the desire (i.e. lazy, or they doubt the result). Is the stereotype, “Liberals usually can’t run businesses”, true?

Liberals find themselves in quite a bind. The world isn’t perfect, and try as they might, they can’t make it so. Conservatives are aware the world isn’t perfect and make adjustments accordingly. This is the reason why many liberals always seem to be in a bad mood. I experienced this first hand. My husband’s software company was getting together ‘non-profit’ call lists. I was given the task of getting the IT contact for the sales people to call. I had a large list of these non-profits. One on the lists was PETA. When I called them, they were not very enthusiastic, but they weren’t impolite. When the salesman finally got around to calling them, they were terribly rude. NO OTHER non-profit, from that whole list, was rude. Is this a coincidence? I don’t think it is since every time I see a member of PETA on the news, they are doing something illegal or violent.

What does everyone else think??
