WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Larry Klayman, chairman of the anti-corruption watchdog organization Judicial Watch, has joined the race for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat held by White House wannabe Bob Graham.
"I will be the conservative antidote for Hillary Clinton," he said. "I will be her worst nightmare."
His campaign will focus on security, corruption and government waste, he said in advance of his formal announcement, scheduled for today in Tampa.
"We have an urgent need here because we have 1,800 miles of coastline. And we are very high on the target list of terrorists," said Klayman, a Miamian.
Today's Orlando Sentinel, like other members of the media establishment, describes Judicial Watch as "conservative" even though the organization has targeted the Bush administration as well as the Clintons.
Other Republicans seeking the nomination, now that U.S. Rep. Mark Foley has left the race, include state House Speaker Johnnie Byrd, former U.S. Rep. Bill McCollum, state Sen. Daniel Webster and U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon.
Democrats going after Graham's seat, which he hasn't yet abandoned, are former state Education Commissioner Betty Castor, Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas, and U.S. Reps. Allen Boyd, Peter Deutsch and Alcee Hastings.
'Other Endeavors'
Klayman has resigned as chairman and general counsel of Judicial Watch "to pursue other endeavors," the organization announced today.
"Larry conceived, founded and helped build Judicial Watch to the organization it is today, and we will miss his day to day involvement," said Tom Fitton, president. "Judicial Watch now has a very strong presence and has become the leading nonpartisan, public interest watchdog seeking to promote and ensure ethics in government, and Larry leaves us well positioned to continue our important work."
Larry Klayman
Gimme a break. The two are bosom buddies.
Lionel Hutz has a better winning percentage than Klayman.
Dear Gullible JW Donator:
Assume the position.
Wrong state. Hillary is the Senator from New York--and Larry didn't bother to run against her.
Does he actually think he has a chance, given that the Republican Party detests him and that about four people known who he is? Or (and more likely) is this a chance for Larry to raise funds?
And how do you figure that Larry?
Surely you jest. You really put the scare in them during your 8 years of investigations. I think your record speaks for itself!
J.W. did get their witness extradited alive, didn't they?
Larry the Knothead -
something upon which both McClintock and Arnold supporters agree.
Lionel Hutz: "Mr. Simpson, don't you worry. I watched Matlock in a bar last night. The sound wasn't on, but I think I got the gist of it."
Yup, sure.
And for a small donation, Klayman will send you a campaign bumper sticker or a button.
Anyway, there's a bigger profit margain on bumper stickers and buttons that Judicial Watch watches.
