Mortificatino? Really? I hate to criticize the kings new clothes...but, what would we say about another group making these claims?

Those are of course the normal legal terms that must be used in such a case.

Yes, and how many firewalls will now block Free Republic due to this disinformation of it being a hate group? And how many times will we have to ask to have our name removed from other agencies' lists that may label us a hate group because of this? I fear many liberal organizations will now use the press release to put us in the hate group category. They'll never had heard the retraction, of course. No, wait, was there ever a retraction? NO! So soon Morris Dees will have us in his hate group list at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Inform counsel that Fresno HRC Chairwoman Debbie Reyes is (or was) a member of the California Democratic Council and the Fresno Stonewall Democrats. Her acts of slander and libel were politically motivated.

I am so glad you have done this. The HRC needs to be called on the carpet for their outrageous, slanderous actions. Hopefully, this incident will put a spot light on the waste and uselessness of the Human Rights Commission.

Thanks Meg. I hope that a public apology will be forthcoming, but I have my doubts. Ms. Sterling, who is either a City Councilperson or a member of the HRC - I'm not sure which, said on the news this evening (I'm paraphrasing) "if they believe that a group poses a threat to the community, they have a responsibility to report it to law inforcement and the media". Doesn't sound as though she sees any problem with the HRC's press release labeling us a hate group.

I saw them both and I agree totally with you about the difference in the coverage.

The Sterling woman is a member of the city council and is the one who appointed Debbie Reyes. She is reportedly a good friend of Sarah Reyes who is the sister of Debbie.

I would expect them to close ranks, but it isn't easy to watch that is for sure.
