Operation Infinite FReep - Fresno Support Our Troops/President Rally 9/12/03
9/12/03

Tonight twelve Freepers attended a rally on the corner of Blackstone and Shaw in Fresno, California, to show support for our troops and President Bush. Those who were able to attend were
- Jim, Sheila, and Chris Robinson

A very interesting thing happened tonight. As a few of us were starting to set up our signs, a woman from Channel 24 walked up to us with a really perplexed look on her face. She didn't know quite what to say but then finally she held out a letter that her television station had gotten from someone who works for the city warning them that there was a "hate" group affiliated with Freerepublic who was going to rally on this corner tonight. She asked if any of us were part of this group and we answered that yes, we were. She again looked really surprised and unsure what to say next. She asked us what we stood for and we answered that we were just there to show support for our troops and also for President Bush and that we loved our country. This was just not what she expected to hear! We pointed out that we were just normal people, most of us grandparent age.
She said that she wanted to get an interview to put on the news at 6:00 and asked who might want to answer a few questions. We all pointed to Jim. Lol! She and a man who was with her got out cameras and talked to Jim and a few others. I will let Jim post what they asked him and how he answered. He was just great!
Also, there were several police cars parked on our corner and also across the street, I guess because they expected us to be wild and crazy and stir up all kind of trouble, but if so they were severely disappointed. We did nothing except hold up flags and signs showing support for the troops and visit with each other.
After tonight's rally, most of us headed out to Baker's Square for scintillating conversation which is just a taste of what is to come tomorrow when we meet for our yearly picnic.
A big thanks to all who were able to be there tonight! To those who weren't able to make it, we missed you and hope to see you tomorrow!

This 'hate group' looks very patriotic & supportive of our brave troops who keep America the home of the free.
Have a great picnic and give all those wonderful FReepers a 'bear' hug from me.!
And thanks for your suggestions regarding storage of photos.

irrevocable and forever unable to kill more humans. It's a good outset." END QUOTE They then listed the names, ages, ranks and hometowns of America's sons & daughters killed in our fight for freedom. It was like a knife through the heart. And we are called the "hate group!"

Contacting KMJ is a good idea. They already have issues with this so called Human relations commission. This appointed group was started during some racial strife a few years ago, and have outlived their purpose. They decided they were more important than those who appointed them, and became a anti-war, anti Bush, anti conservative group at taxpayers expense. This group is affiliated with Peace Fresno, the peaceniks who demonstrated across the street from all along!

Seems to me we shouldn't leave out the possibility that that group from that so called Freepwatch org. did this. They have a article posted calling for the anarchists to disrupt the picnic/rally at Infoshop.org that many of us saw. I would surmise that they contacted the commission and sent the press releases all over to disrupt the rally.
One guy on there says "You deserve to die." But again, we are called the hate group!

LOL!!!
You all have been out there every week since 2001.
The City of Fresno just figured it out?
Now they've labeled FR a "hate group" in an official release and sicked the cops on you?
They ought to be sued for slander/libel for starters.

This was quite an interesting rally, Hate Group (not), 3 police cars, channel 24 news and all. I guess we are really getting under somebody's skin.
I talked with the police on station during our rally- nice folks BTW- and I asked them why they were there tonight since they are not normally present during our regular SUPPORT THE TROOPS rallies. They stated that the police dept. had received a notice that a "hate group" was meeting on the corner and they were there to keep everything peaceful. He could not tell me where the notice originated. I was the last one to leave and they were present until everyone left the hate-crime scene.
It is interesting that the Fresno Human Relations Commission got involved! It is obvious that someone has it in for FreeRepublic and is trying to stir the pot.
I went to the City of Fresno website to try and find the communications numbers for the Fresno HRC. They have a commission and a director and a weak mission statement. I also noticed the HRC is really with it- they still have the tel. area codes from several years back. Instead of area code 209, the current area code is 559. They are really on top of things. Unfortlunately they do not have a listed email, just snail mail, tel and fax.
FRESNO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION (HRC)
City Manager's Office, City Hall
2600 Fresno Street
Fresno, CA 93721
W. Ray Johnson, Director of Community Service
Tel: (209) 498-1646 -(correct area code 559)
Fax: (209) 488-1015 - (correct area code 559)
TDD: None
The Commission promotes harmonious relations among the different cultures and people of Fresno. The HRC monitors discrimination and hate crimes, develops positive programs to address these issues, mediates disputes, and celebrates cultural diversity. Geographic area(s) served: City of Fresno Type(s) of publications: None
One more comment. Channl 24 has visited our rally several times . They know what we stand for, they know we are there to support the troops and that we are not , in any fashion a "hate group". Yet they chose to primarily target FReeRepublic amid "Controversy" The controversy is the responsible party that is trying to disrupt the rallies and what we stand for. Channel 24 , being aware of FReeRepublic from previous visits is irresponsible in the way they presented the article.
SO WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE NEWS MEDIA - TYPICAL REPORTING!

Can you believe that news release. ...... BTW I'm a star .... I made the 11:00 news. ( I was awful but she said I was Amy but did not want my last name used. ) Guess I should have told her I was JustAmy. LOL
Fresno Bee reporter may be at our picnic this afternoon. He asked what we planned to do at the picnic. Duhhh ...I told him eat lots of tri-tip, visit, listen to music and we would have croquet and badminton for anyone who is inclined to participate in games.

Hey Mister ( see- I still repect my elders)
I guess since you aren't associating with "vicious hate groups" and will not be able to attend the "hate group" picnic, does that mean I have to have a double water can dousing?
Sorry you couldn't make it. I will send you some of the extra ice water.

"He asked what we planned to do at the picnic." Shoulda told him y'all had captured a few liberals, and you were gonna hang 'em.
THAT would have gotten some coverage!

Chadsey, I've been plotting and planning behind your back.
If certain people are going to earn the money I've paid 'em, they're going to douse you with near frozen sewer water.
I also paid for an 8 X 10 pic of that event!
I sure wish I could have been there, too.
My court appearance cut the timing a little too close.
(I really didn't see anything wrong with running through the neighborhood screaming, "I hate liberals!". Maybe if I had had some clothes on.........)

But, let's look at the positive side.
FreeRepublic.com came off the winner and looked real good and the Fresno HRC didn't look very good at all.

Free speech means they can endanger our troops with dishonest and careless statements and reporting from their international soapboxes - from Hollywood and DC, press rooms and Universities around the world. They can slander our CinC, and revise our history and spit on the flag. Everyone who disagrees with them practices "hate speech", according to these so-called defenders of liberty. Hypocrites.
In every community where Freepers peacefully protest, the police say, "thank you."
During election 2002 in Florida, a local political reporter for Gannett, acting on a tip from DU (and incensed at me on their behalf) planned to write a hit piece on FR - on "Freeping polls." We have enough info on fraudulent polls to sink that, but it required some exposure of the opposition - who we're up against and why we fight. I sent my own list, with a description of the work of the opposition, mostly unopposed, in America.
If anyone comes to FR looking for a "hate group" - as the letter recommends, let them spend time at FR.
Let them then read comments from those who would send such a letter to the Fresno City Council. Take your time, visitors. You decide who to trust. Who's inciting hate. Who's attacking America:
Thank you, Freepers, for being at that corner week after week - standing up for the troops and reminding Fresno that our troops are paying a very high price for our freedom.
And hold on to the list - hand it to the next shameless accuser - along with a copy of the US Constitution.

If you simply go to Google and type in "fresno" and "human relations commission", half of the first page of links are about how ultra-left-wing it is and even the Fresno City Council can't control them. Very interesting reading.

What a crock that HRC memo is! Have you considered having FR's lawyers look into a possible case of slander?
