His staying won't change his chances that much imo. I just don't see him upping these numbers in a sufficient amount that would come close to making him competitive.....

Republican Voters Schwarzenegger McClintock

CA Field Poll 43% 28%
USA Survey Poll 56% 25%
CA C of C Poll 44% 23%

He's in it 'til the end.

I don't know what Diddle E. is watching; he's not watching H&C, because McClintock has said, repeatedly, that he will not drop out, and that he will accept Arnold's endorsement.

McClintock's career is over if he helps elect Bustamante.

I don't recall him using the word endorse.

I believe he said that it would be up to each individual voter as to what the appropriate adjustment should be regarding any change in support that the voter might contemplate given the set of circumstances at that time.

"Makes a lot of sense, so now maybe its time to lay off some of the constant sniping, and let's see how the campaign goes over the next few weeks and after the debate."

Maybe a "cease fire" between McClintock's and Arnold's supporters, in order to fire away at Bustamante, instead?

Schartzenegger's BEST move would be to ask McClintock to drop and then offer him the Lt Gov spot and an inside seat for guidance. He'd wrap this up in a heartbeat.

And how would he accomplish this? Start a recall against Bustamante or ask the legislature to impeach him?

I guess we'll have to post the transcript when it comes out, because I was so surprised at what he said that I created this thread.

I agree with you that he did say that after continuous nagging from Sean.

Myself, I think it's teetering right now.

My own opinion has gone from very high (voted for him in the last election), to very low. And each day his stubborn egomania keeps him in, hurting California's chances, I think less of him. (And his advocates here ain't helping me think different.)

Tom may be a great conservative, but he's a lousy Republican.

Watching here too, he insinuated he would support Arnold and than turned around and said he was in it until the end. He comes off as rather stubborn, but maybe that's how he wants to play it, for now!
I can't imagine either one of them would stay til the end if that meant Bustamante wins, if McClintock doesn't pull out (if Arnold is still holding the lead) his political career will be over!

Have you ever been to Ventura County? If not, then don't tell us about McClintock's political career being over.

If have little doubt that Tom would do the right thing and withdraw if he's still way behind in the polls in a few weeks. But if his #'s continue to rise, and it's a relatively close 3-man race (even thought the polls say he trails both other candidates), I expect him to fight to the end. ...and I hope he'd win.

Sink, I had the interview on from the beginning, when they went straight from O'Reilly into the interview. His statement on eventually backing Arnold if Cruz was going to win was very early in the first segment, in a response to a question from Colmes, and before Hannity started asking his questions. He followed up quickly with statements that there was a month to go, it is early, and 'this is why we have campaigns."

I'll post the transcript as soon as it is released on the FNC website. Should be soon, they already have up the transcript from Arnold's interview on O'Reilly.

Exactly ! That's why Ah-nold needs to get out and endorse the REAL Republican, Tom McClintock.

Thanks for the info! This was getting really confusing -- he said it, he didn't!

He is already approaching the point of no return with a lot of Republicans in CA would be my guess. He is definitely not a team player!

These RINOs are shocked that someone isn't willing to sell principles down the river as quickly as they are.

Remember the "Kneepad Democrats" who would support Clinton no matter what?

That's pretty much what I heard too.
