That's all Arnold's supporters around FR have to offer. Cheap shots and ridicule. Nothing more. I honestly believe Arnold's supporters understand, their guy is an empty suit and can't defend his rhetoric with specifics and details. So they try and prop him up by tearing down McClintock. Very sad.

Ditto!

Makes absolutely no sense at all. NOW is when people are mailing in votes they can't take back. NOW is when his fevered scorched-earth subset is getting increasingly frenzied and strident. NOW is when monies are being spread about that should be focused.

NOW is past time for him to withdraw.

Dan

NOW is not the time for people to mail in absentee ballots that won't be counted until October. If such people were ever going to vote for Schwarzenegger, they wouldn't be sending in their absentee ballots NOW.

When Schwarzenegger first entered this race, he talked about 'books for the childrens' and answered a question about the immigration problem by saying that 'immigrants are the backbone of America.' Thanks to McClintock eating away on his right, Schwarzenegger has had to be much more conservative in his message than he originally intended to be.

Conservatives are miserable negotiators. They don't seem to understand that to maximize your gains in negotiations, you hold out until the last minute before the deadline.

"Yeah, seems like a contradiction, but he clearly said that he would support Arnold if that is the only way that Bustamante could be defeated."

No, he did not say that. At all. I'm not saying that he won't do just that.......and I think he's a terrific guy, but to say that he said this during the interview is wholly inaccurate. I watched the entire interview very, very closely.............you're reading into it what you want to read into it.

And while I'm ranting I'd like to say that SOME of the worst offenders (regarding the physical insults) are people who have been here the longest. People who should definitely know better. People who I used to think were mature and thoughtful...and you know who you are.

Shame on you.

stubborn egomania

I wonder how much of that egomania was aided and abetted by Rush tearing down Arnold's credentials when he announced? It seems to me that Rush's comments egged on Ca. Republicans to hang with their principles, that true conservatism was the only thing worth fighting for.

Of course, such statements ignored the reality of who could really win the election, a reality that was apparent to all as soon as Arnold announced. Rush basically became an enabler of support to Bustamente.

These election dynamics has been discussed for several weeks here on FR and McClintock's chances have not increased. For all of Rush's self-proclaimed wisdom, sometimes his vision does not extend far beyond his own ego.

I think winning is what CA pubbies should be fighting for, getting someone with an (R) after his name in the Governor's mansion, and not egg all over their collective face for successfully initiating a recall only to fall flat in getting one of their guy's elected.

The swing case would be Sandra Day O'Connor, because at least 4 Justices are sure to opt to punt on a decision to vacate the 9th's ruling.

The 9th is ROUTINELY overruled by the Supreme Court.

I'd put the odds of SCOTUS vacating a delay of the election at 50-50, it all depends on Mullah Sandra, however she's been drifting pretty far left recently...

This is a true first: alleged "true conservatives" praying for (1) a completely egregious bout of judicial activism and (2) a Supreme Court unwilling to enforce the rule of law.

It's rather revealing, actually.

I watched the entire interview very, very closely.

Care to share your interpretation of what McClintock was attempting to articulate?

"I do not understand why California Republicans always have to be at war."

Because the unaccountable cretins infesting it (read: Gerry Parsky) insist on shoving liberals down our throats that do NOTHING to further the Conservative agenda. They are nothing but Country-Club elitists that want to impress the Thurston and Lovey Howells of the party and couldn't care less about the middle and working class that make up the bulk of CA voters. Is it no wonder when we nominate those liberal RINOs that they lose so badly every time they run. Why vote for a liberal RINO when there's plenty of Democrats to vote for ? You're fortunate to be in Indiana where they can coalesce behind someone of the calibre of Mitch Daniels. Tell me if you'd feel the same way if they enticed Julia Carson to serve as the GOP standard-bearer.

While there is definitely a cadre of cheap shot artists supporting Arnold and attacking Tom on these threads, there is an even larger and vociferous group of spammers who throw every dirty smear at Arnold on these threads. Give a a bad and false impression of who are really supporting McClintock.

So "Hannity is another strap hanger", is that it?

Along with, let's see...

Chris Cox
John Cooper
Dana Rohrabacher
Newt Gingrich
Milton Friedman
Hugh Hewitt
Ann Coulter
Thomas Sowell

and the folks at the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers' Association...

--

Why doesn't it occur to folks to look around them and question their own conclusion when it disagrees with so many normally respected conservatives?

Okay I know I am more right wing then you. I am also in Thousand Oaks , Mcclintock is my rep. I have volunteered at his office... By the way do you know where it is??? didnt think so. McClintock is great.... but you and him are politically blind. Tom needs to step asside and put his endorsement to arnold, WITH the exception that if arnold dies or gets compromised so bad he looses support, so he can jump in.
THIS IS POLITICS, and you get your ideas passed and arnold is already going to do it. If Tom does not step aside by the weekend he will have screwed any chances for the party and himself. You see we have 2 houses of reps in this state BOTH democrat. this election is about a message, if we fail we are screwed. If we win we will most likely win Boxers seat next year, So dont tell me about Tom being a nice guy... and I am a foaming at the mouth conservative! THINK .... THINK ... THINK!

"true republicans" will vote for mcfailure no matter the cost.

It must be true because a mcfailure supporter told me....

Since you are not from California, I don't think you should use "we" when talking about these things.

Republicans in Indiana have sense. McIntosh, who is far more conservative than McDaniels, dropped out and threw his support behind Mitch. He learned his lesson about the electorate here, and decided that winning the governorship was the most important. I worked on the McIntosh campaign, so I know that this was done because of his concern for the state.

No one in Indiana would try to force Julia Carson on us, and I do not think Arnold could even remotely be considered the equivalent of Julia Carson.

Nice try, but I want a Republican win in California, and I want the McClintock and Schwartzenegger people to get together and work out a deal.

To quote Vince Lombardi, "Winning is the only thing."

Since your "shame on you" post was addressed to me, please tell me what I said that was a physical insult, if I was actually who you are referring to. Or were you speaking to others? I've been trying to speak out against childish cheap shots on these threads, and agree with your posts.
