After refusing to disassociate himself from a Hispanic group critics say is as racist as the Ku Klux Klan, California gubernatorial candidate Cruz Bustamante has won an endorsement from the Klan itself.

CNSNews.com reports former Grand Wizard Tom Metzger of the California Klan announced his backing of the lieutenant governor in the upcoming recall election.
Metzger, who is also director of the White Aryan Resistance, applauds Bustamante for being a fellow "separatist" because of his past association with the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan, or MEChA, while he was a student at Fresno State College in the 1970s.
As WorldNetDaily reported, MEChA specifically encourages its Chicano and Chicana members to put "raza," or their race, above all others. And, the group promotes the liberation of "Atzlan," which includes a major portion of the U.S. southwest "Mechistas" the name group members call themselves believe was stolen from Mexico by the United States.
The group, which has college chapters on 300 campuses 100 in California alone adopted as its motto, " for the race, everything. For those outside the race, nothing." And it is accustomed to creating violence to get its way. Fox News reported that in 1993 students at UCLA caused $500,000 in damages to the university while demanding a Chicano Studies department. Later, in 1996, Mechistas were videotaped beating up demonstrators protesting illegal immigration.
WorldNetDaily reported Bustamante refuses to disassociate himself from the racist Hispanic group, while downplaying its activities.
"I think the actuality of what takes place in those organizations is to provide student leadership. For me, and many, many others, we were running for student government. That's how I got here today," Bustamante said.
That moderate description of MEChA and the students who belong to it differs from the group's own treatise titled "El Plan De Atzlán."
"In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal 'gringo' invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlán from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility and our inevitable destiny," says the opening passage.
"If that isn't racist I don't know what is," Metzger commented to CNSNews.com.
Metzger supports white control of the U.S. He explained the apparent hypocrisy in his endorsement of Bustamante: "Since we feel just the opposite [of MEChA], that Southern California must be reserved for the Euro-American people, then at least we're getting the main issue out on the table."
The self-described white racist predicts the election of Bustamante would push the issue of immigration and border control to a "boiling point," which would in turn, he hopes, fuel a resurgence in nationalism.
Bustamante's campaign did not return phone calls seeking comment on the endorsement.
I am sure Bustamante has Byrds support. Bustamante really has the KKK types rallying around him.

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
I don't know why Bustamecha isn't returning calls, the AP took this photo at a campaign event outside an Indian Casino.
