A Few of FR's Finest ....Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.
Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :) If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day! ~ Billie

Good morning, Finest FRiends. We're back today with a salute to a few of our Finest Military, and already we've been reflecting on the reason the photos of our FR Military have become important to us. This week of the second anniversary of 9/11 brings back so vividly the photos and events of that tragic day. Didn't our President give a most excellent speech last night.
Thank you, each and every one, for your service, past and/or present, to our great country.

Good morning all. A real week to remember. I'm sure we all remember where we were on 9-11 as some of us remember where we were when JFK was assassinated and some even Dec 7th, 1941. A sad reminder but it also shows our resilience and courage. Prayers for all who lost loved ones on that day.
SCOUTS OUT!

Yes, to all three events, ladtx.
When Pearl Haror happened, it was the radio that broadcast the incredulous news of the Japanese attack, when I was7 1/2.
WWII shaped my patriotism and love for America in a mighty way.
When President Kennedy was assassinated, it also was through a radio broadcast that I learned of it.
A military wife then, living in Fairbanks, Alaska, we did not receive television broadcasts for three weeks after any event, the fims shipped first to Juneau - a week later to Anchorage - and THEN to Fairbanks.
My husband had not yet gone to the base and was home with me, and the neighbors in the duplex came over to with us try to absorb the happenings and the impact they would make on the world.
Thankfully, Fox News Channel on cable was on when 9-11 occurred, so received it as the day unfolded.
Yes - we owe so much to those who are willing to set aside 'normal' lives to stand between us and whatever evil in the world takes aim at personal liberty and freedom for mankind - and, most especially, for America.
God - bless each and every one, and those who are their loved ones and friends. Amen.

Good morning, Billie Blue...and to all our Hostesses and all the Finest.
Military Monday...)
Below is a pic of the Verterans Cemetery on Point Loma...it's near the old lighthouse, and overlooks San Diego harbor....the U.S. Navy sub pens are at the bottom of the cliffs...a beautiful place.
Standing where this photo was taken, you could've seen the President as he winged his way to the carrier on that glorious day 3 months ago.
As great as the peril from abroad, I'm beginning to think the Dims are an enemy as threatening as the al queda gang.
From what I've heard on TV today, they may have listened to what he said last night, but they did not hear.
God Bless our President...he's in the crosshairs of both the Dims and the islamiks...I pray for his safety, and success.
May God bless our troops, and all those who fight the good fight.
