Dull Paean: Showtime's "DC 9/11" is a Shameless Bush Booster

Simultaneously dull and disgraceful, "DC 9/11: Time of Crisis," a new Showtime movie, uses the tragic attack on America in 2001 as the basis for a reelection campaign movie on behalf of George W. Bush.
The film is an insult to those who perished in the attacks and, really, an insult to America generally, but it's so insanely boring that people aren't likely to become very outraged over it. Written by conservative Republican Lionel Chetwynd, who admits to a bias in Bush's favor, the film -- premiering on Showtime tomorrow night at 8 -- is primitive propaganda that portrays Bush as the noblest hero since Mighty Mouse.

Saw this in the print edition... as you can tell from these two introductory paragraphs, this is a rather SHAMELESS slam by Tom Shales, a CNN-MaureenDowd-AnnaQuindlin-WalterCronkite wannabe liberal slime-master par-excellance. Notice he's quick to identify the the screenwriter as a Conservative Republican "who admits a bias in Bush's favor"... where is his admission of his own bias and the bias of so many of his fellow-travelers in the chattering class? Since I've only provided an exerpt, I decided I could get by without a "BARF" Alert -- I acutally think this is rather funny and fun! I'll look forward to the Showtime movie.

I'll be watching - Showtime has one of my favorite programs right now (Dead Like Me), and decent boxing - a major twofer in my book.

Hey, if all these 'Rat bastard liberals are this annoyed, the movie must be good! Yesterday, I read the most bile-filled rant from the Village Voice, comparing the movie (and the Bush administration) to Joseph Stalin. These leftists are absolutely nuts.

"Chetwynd is determined to show Bush and all the little Bushkins behaving like living saints. Even sinister adviser Karl Rove, the Dr. Strangelove (Strangerove?) of the administration"
Nope, no bias there.
I really wish I got Showtime - I would love to see this. Maybe it will come to the video store.
The liberals are in such a froth over this it must be really good. Like Rush says, when they are out of power it is the time they are most amusing.
To: ReleaseTheHounds
No, nope, no liberal bias in the media....
"Bush repeatedly demands he be taken to the White House as Air Force One flies aimlessly about on that horrible September day:"
Air Force One had an aim: The White House. They were just taking an indirect path for security reasons (what, you think they just wound up there by accident). But I guess the actual truth would spoil your hateful rant.

This weenie is just mad 'cause there are no gay love scenes or PC overtones. This is a must view. Anytime a lib gets upset about a movie it MUST be good.

Not that even-handed, fair-minded journalist Tom Shales? Don't tell me he's become political. Gosh such a loss to readers everywhere.
In all seriousness does anybody who can think read this moron's dribblings?
To: ReleaseTheHounds
Hmmm .... makes you wonder how Shales reviewed "Primary Colors', "The American President", "The War Room", TV's "The West Wing", or even the old "PT 109" movie. I'm sure he must not have liked them either.

If the liberals hate it that much, it becomes
"Must See TV" for me!
May even tape it to show to my Democrat friends.

I'm enjoying them but, as my name implies, I'm a lifelong Tribe fan so wait 'til next year.

In all seriousness does anybody who can think read this moron's dribblings? Believe me, Mr. or Ms. Muir, I thought about this before posting... I was thinking "if a tree falls in the woods, does it make a noise" -- that's what I think about Shale's ramblings, but the huge 3 quarter of a page, above the fold headlining in today's Wash. Post made me respond. Shales is a fat slob, over-the-hill, voices in his head, has-been... but there are so many like him, like Jack Germond, the big gas-bag from the Baltimore Sun... I love the way Charles Krauthammer slices and dices him every week on Inside Washington, the local talking head show.
To: redlipstick
Ping for the Showtime movie.
Shales thinks being a Bush supporter is a bad thing.
To: ReleaseTheHounds
'Tis a thing of great beauty to see liberals get so bent out of shape over the occassional pro-Right film (e.g. Red Dawn).

Now, you damn well know that is a lie. If, Bush was like Stalin, they would be in love with him. They are Communists, don't ya know?

Gee what an awful idea... presenting the President of the U.S. in a positive light. How unlike the hundreds of movies previous to this one shown on movie screens and tv sets in the last seventy years . I'm shocked, shocked I say that anyone would do such a dastardly thing. (/sarcasm)
