Its 4:46am September 6.
Its a little more than 100 hours from the Second Anniversary of Start the World Trade Center Attack and the subsequent Strike on the Pentagon and the Crash in Pennsylvania. 100 hours seems to be a long time; however, it is barely enough to reflect and remember all those who perished on the ground and in the air. Each one of the victims has a story, a life, that if retold would take more than 100 hours to appreciate the richness of their stay on this earth before it was snatched away.
Since 911, there has been more sacrifice. More have taken from this earth this time not in tragedy but in a quest for justice and the expansion of freedom. They were not helpless victims but Heroes of liberation for the Afghanis and Iraqis and protectors of our domestic security.
We would hope that you would take the time and reflect on the lives of those who died on 9-11 and those who have sacrificed their all since that day in these next 100 hours. Please contribute a post of reflection, a prayer, a memorial, a picture or even just a ping to your friends to let them know that 9-11 has not been ignored this year.
Never forget

Richard Bruehert, worked for Marsh & McClennan
I went to school with Brian's brother and sister, and he lived 4 houses down from my parents.

I will never forget - I was on my way to the health club when I heard about the first plane and I thought it was terrorism instantly. I remember thinking
they like that building. I got to the club and asked the kid at the desk if they knew yet whether it was terrorism or an accident. He gave me the oddest look - "it was an accident" he said.
I hopped on the treadmill and saw the second plane hit on live TV. The moron at CNN wondered if there was something wrong with air traffic control and I lost it. I screamed at the TV - "say the T-word, it's terrorism, you dolt!"
I had to stop working out and go home in utter despair when the Pentagon was hit. I thought our country was coming to an end. I went home and turned on Fox news and got on my knees and prayed...no, I will never forget.

Wow, what a small world.
John was in my homeroom class for all of Jr. High and High School. And I ran track with his older sister, Patty.
What kills me every time I think of it is that Brian had 4 adorable little kids. My office buddies and I put a basket of cheese and toys together for the family and I met them when we delivered it in Dec 2001. I went home and cried my eyes out after that.

- This country has many challenges. We will not deny, we will not ignore, we will not pass along our problems to other Congresses, to other presidents, and other generations. (Applause.) We will confront them with focus and clarity and courage...
Sending Americans into battle is the most profound decision a President can make. The technologies of war have changed; the risks and suffering of war have not. For the brave Americans who bear the risk, no victory is free from sorrow. This nation fights reluctantly, because we know the cost and we dread the days of mourning that always come.
- We seek peace. We strive for peace. And sometimes peace must be defended. A future lived at the mercy of terrible threats is no peace at all. If war is forced upon us, we will fight in a just cause and by just means -- sparing, in every way we can, the innocent. And if war is forced upon us, we will fight with the full force and might of the United States military -- and we will prevail. (Applause.)

The USMA Glee Club sings 'Mansions of the LORD':
To fallen soldiers let us sing
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding, no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
Just divine embrace, eternal light
In the Mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep
Through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord

To: 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub
Greetings 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub, FReepers, et al:
And big THANK YOU too Tonk!
Let me take a moment and inform FReepers about our civilian partners of the USCG Auxiliary.
USCGA volunteers are an awesome work force multiplier. Whenever an Auxiliarist volunteers their time, they free up one of our Coasties for the Homeland Defense mission.
Earning and maintaining that telecommunication watchstander qualification is quite a commitment Tonk. A qualified watchstander is an extremely valuable member of the crew. My home unit really appreciates our qualified Auxiliarists.
Without dedicated USCGA people assisting us nationwide, we could not maintain our degree of officer presence for the Homeland Defense mission.

OLA

To: Mia T
How very appropriate Mia T. That message was what my generation so passionately felt. Our fathers defended our great nation in WW II and gave us a peaceful existence for the majority of our lifetime. Then someway or other we allowed the insanity of the democrats seizing control, dropping the guard, tying the hands of the FBI and CIA, and hence 9-11.
