Court Date Set for 182mph Driver
LEHIGHTON, PA-September 4, 2003 Just how fast will a Lamborghini go?
Police in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, charge William Faenza Junior was doing 182 in his Lamborghini Diablo.
Officers also charge Faenza was driving drunk. Police say they caught up with him when he pulled into a gas station.
While Faenza concedes he may have been doing 100, he denies going nearly 200 miles per hour.
He says if he was going that fast, the police would have never caught him.
Besides, Faenza says the wheels on his Lamborghini start to shake when he goes faster than 70.
He's to appear in court next Wednesday.

182 mph is moving, especially if you're not on a race track. The fastest I've driven is 135 - on an open stretch of fwy in So. Oregon - and only for about 20 seconds - and it got very hairy at that speed. ...especially when coming up on a turn.

Exactly, that Lambo probably hits 70 mph just coming out of 2nd gear.

He says if he was going that fast, the police would have never caught him. Anyone here know the top speed of most cop cars? I'd imagine 120 - 130.

The Ford Crown Victoria police edition is speed limited to 129mph. The Motorola can out run anything.

In 1988 I got a ticket for 143mph in a 55 zone. I knew the cop was lying because I was going faster than that.
1987 Mustang GT, BTW.

157 in a '70 Delta 88. County Road 5 West of 7th street in Northern Anoka county.
I had a '68 Coronet at one time that I topped out at 135 going from Savanah up to Atlanta.
Driving fast is FUN. Dangerous. But FUN.

That car looks fast just standing still.
Sounds like they need to calibrate the radar gun.
However, I can understand catching him gassing up his car at even 100 mph, it's got to guzzle the gas.
If the anti-SUV crowd would look at one of these, maybe they would have a change of focus. But then again, they would have to give up theirs!

Yep. I rode shotgun in one earlier this summer. My friend blew through 1st, 2nd and when he hit third he backed off the gas, we were doing 90 at that point.
To: Dead Corpse
Are we posting maximum speeds?
115mph, in a Ford Crown Victoria police edition (retired), Interstate 80 in Clearfield County, PA (upslope).

Sure it's exciting to drive a Lambourgini at 185 mph. But try driving a Ford Festiva (that cheap German built American imitation of an American built German car) at 110 mph. Now that's a challenge!

If the anti-SUV crowd would look at one of these, maybe they would have a change of focus. Nah, I can't imagine more than 50 of these things per year are sold.
