Johnny Depp Says U.S. Is Like a 'Dumb Puppy' By REUTERS
Filed at 7:48 a.m. ET
BERLIN (Reuters) - Hollywood star Johnny Depp said on Wednesday the United States was a stupid, aggressive puppy and he would not live there until the political climate changed.
The 40-year-old actor, who stars in the ``Pirates of the Caribbean,'' told the German news magazine Stern he was happier staying in the south of France with his wife, the French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, and their two children.
``America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive,'' he said.
``My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out,'' said the star of the off-beat films ``Edward Scissorhands'' and ``Dead Man.''
Depp slammed George W. Bush's administration for its criticism of French opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
``I was ecstatic they re-named 'French Fries' as 'Freedom Fries'. Grown men and women in positions of power in the U.S. government showing themselves as idiots,'' he told Stern.

Check out Depp's bio. He dropped out of high school.
It kills me that high school dropouts (Depp, Streisand) can pretend to have such wisdom. They malign a man (George Bush) who holds a BA from Yale and and MBA from Harvard.
Excuse me Deppy, but I think you're the dumb puppy. Do the world a favor and shut your idiot mouth. Better yet, stay in France and make low-grossing French art films.

Good actor of limited intelligence who thinks he's profound.
Not uncommon.

If he had the courage of his convictions, he'd become a French citizen and pay French taxes.

Sigh...another talented actor who doesn't realize that he's only relevant when he's reading words written by someone else.
Depp was great in "Pirates." Too bad he couldn't keep his yap shut off screen.
Bon voyage.

Just the thought that thousands of frail, elderly people died because temperatures that topped 100 degrees turned their apartments and nursing home rooms into suffocating death chambers while much of the nation's younger population enjoyed their annual vacations has sparked a national mea culpa.
Just like the Vichy Government..."It's not our fault."

My sentiments exactly!...why doesn't this little lacy-panties coward step his little dainty foot on U.S. soil and say that? Instead, he hides behind his wife and children. What a pathetic moron...stay in France, Johnny, 'cause you won't be marching home again anytime soon....Pitts off...

I wish he could have kept his mouth shut until I had a chance to see 'Pirates of the Carribean'. He was at least bright enough to not spout off when the movie opened.

"The Germans succeeded in invading and occupying France in June 1940 and established a French fascist puppet government that would do as Germany wished. Until the German invasion of Russia in June 1941, Great Britain was the only country fighting Germany after the fall of France in June 1940."
Depp might think the U.S. is a dumb puppy, but if somebody ever gets designs on invading France again, France will be a puppy that rolls over and plays dead as they did in 1940.

The 40-year-old actorJohnny, Johnny, Johnny. 40 already? Most of us begin to mature by this age. Most of us have to work for a living, not drift through a "dream world" existence. France will fit in quite nicely with your dream world. Hope you become an adult sometime while you're still breathing.

Depp hung around Thompson too long. Depp used to be a real talent. His work in "Benny & Joon" was wonderful. Gilbert Grape was a winner too. Why he ever got mixed up with the likes of Thompson I have NFI.
At least he did move. That's cool.
Let's see what Depp has to say of Froggyville in twenty years? The newness of anything can be exciting. Let him have his honeymoon. Waking up next to France each day might take it's toll after a while.
