It's a nice house with a GREAT VIEW. Why shouldn't it be featured in a magazine on homes. The house doesn't get to pick the person who lives in it. The White House was beautiful even when Clinton lived there.

Looks like "Ignatius Phayre" was a penname for one William George Fitzgerald, who also wrote this:

That is Eagles Nest, Hitler's hideaway. I visited there in 1981....it's a big tourist attraction. You can't get in the hideaway...it's roped off. I tell you, I have never seen a more breathtaking site of alps. I believe the elevator that took you to the top was completely gold. The man was dispicable (sp?) but the hideaway was incredible.

Not exactly a secret but one that is being systematically hidden from public view. Much of Hollywood resisted getting into the war until Stalin gave his OK. Roosevelt and Hitler were not exactly enemies thought the 30's. In fact, many of roosevelt's grandiose state programs mimic the Hitlerian mega projects vision.

I don't think this is Eagles Nest, which does indeed exist on this same mountain...only Eagle's Nest is ON TOP of the mountain, and yes, after entering the tunnel for a walk into the heart of the mountain, you do ride in a gold embossed elevator to the top, where a fabulous building is built with views that go on forever.

This house is the house on the lower part of the mountain (but high enough!) and close to the homes of his infamous buddies. And just a stone's throw down from the General Walker Hotel (a R&R retreat for our forces in Europe-or was until they razed it last year. The General Walker and its outbuildings were orginally built for Hitler's elite guard)

We have walked thru the verboten ( STAY AWAY-FORBIDDEN ) forest below the Walker to spit on the remains of the house above-the house that our warriors bombed the hell out of during WWII.

In other words, the actual room in which Satan was appeased and millions were condened to death. This reminds me of how Arafat has been and continues to be feted by the European elite, when he should be arrested, tried and hung this very day.
