Girl Kicked Out Of School For Wearing Muslim Scarf Thu Aug 28, 6:33 PM ET
A local teen was about to enter her senior year at South Euclid's Regina Catholic High School but she got kicked out because of her Muslim headscarf.
NewsChannel5's Joe Pagonakis reported that Amal Jamal, 17, was told that wearing the headpiece to class is in direct violation of the uniform dress code.
The school dress code specifically states that students are not allowed to wear hats, head wraps or bandannas. School officials said they would not make an exception for the teen.
So far, the student and the school have not been able to reach a compromise.
Amal's family has made no official comment on the situation, but has hired an attorney.
Many people think the school should re-examine the situation.
A similar incident occurred recently at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, Ohio. There was a big debate over whether a boy could wear a turban to class, but the school ended up allowing him to do so.
Regina officials have not yet release an official response.
Because Regina is a private school, it can lawfully enforce any dress code it wants to, NewsChannel5 reported.

This article is just to bash catholics, not to point out that Muslims have no place in a Parochial school not of their religion. There are plenty of madrassas, er, Muslim schools here in the US, let her go to one of them. Sheesh.

Why is the little jihadist going to a non Muslim school if she is so hijab obsessed? Methinks it is to stir up trouble!

Private schools are cool because the students can attend ONLY if the school wants them. There are a lot of undesirable students in the world -- but private schools don't have to take any of them. With that in mind, you'd have to be pretty dumb to wear a Muslim head scarf to a Catholic school, in direct contravention to their dress code. The outcome is guaranteed.

Typically, when one enters a Catholic school, one must agree -- in writing -- to abide by the dress code. Assuming that was the case here, the school shouldn't budge.

Many people think the school should re-examine the situation. Why? It's a Catholic school not a Muslim one. End of discussion.

Exactly. Just like the America haters all over. The specifically look for a place or situation that "offends" them so they can sue.

If "many people" aren't affiliated with the school, they are entirely irrelevant.

Catholic schools have ALWAYS allowed entry of children of other religions (or no religion). However, the parents of those children also know what the written school policies are, and have SIGNED A CONTRACT agreeing to follow them. This is just another "test push" by Muslims to see if they can gain another inch.

This will be characterized as religious intolerance. I guess the next taboo that Catholic (and of course other religious schools) will have to tolerate is Satanic pentagrams on foreheads.

Make no mistake this is a direct attack on the Catholic Church and schools by the muslims.
They have been waiting for this opportunity and will attempt to exploit it.

amazing. The blatant disregard for the school to make their own rules. 12 years of Catholic school taught me... the nuns are always in control and I have the scares from the welts on my hands to prove it.

I think I might go to a local mosque wearing a crucifix and sue them when they won't let me in.
Or maybe try to go to Mecca and sue them when they won't let me in.
