Freepers call to action re. Terri Schindler-Schiavo. Make a complaint against Judge Greer:

Freepers, we may be able to help Terri:

I made some phone calls today and have the ULTIMATE PHONE CALL for registering a Complaint against Judge Greer. I can't reveal my sources but this is the phone number for a few pay grades above J. Greer.

Call the: Judicial Qualifications Commission at

#1-850-488-1581. I am complaining to them tomorrow that J. Greer isn't God, that he's been in the husband's corner since Day One, he doesn't care a wit about Terri's parents or her husband's attempt at medical neglect, and I'd like to know if Greer can be recalled or impeached.

HE SHOULD HAVE OR COULD HAVE HONORED GOV. BUSH'S REQUEST TO ASSIGN A GUARDIAN AD LITEM to represent Terri's interest instead of once again, taking the side of the husband. Judge Greer is from the Sixth Circuit Court, Pinellas County.

Oh, and ping everybody you can think of.

From summer:

"..do a separate thread asking people to call this phone number FV provided. This could get a guardian appointed if the judge is tossed off the case for BIAS."

8 Jeb Bush intervenes for Schindler-Schiavo -   WND | 8/26

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has asked a judge to delay setting a date for removal of a feeding tube sustaining the life of a brain-disabled woman, Terri Schindler-Schiavo.

In a letter, Bush asked Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George W. Greer yesterday to keep her alive until a court-appointed guardian can "independently investigate the circumstances of this case and provide the court with an unbiased view that considers the best interests of Mrs. Schiavo."

(WND article excerpts, cont.:) "On Friday, the Florida Supreme Court refused to intervene in the case, clearing the way for a Sept. 11 hearing in which Greer would set a date for removal of the feeding tube.

Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler of Gulf Port, Fla., have been locked in a decade-long legal battle with their son-in-law over the care and custody of their daughter, who suffered massive brain damage when she collapsed at her home 13 years ago under unexplained circumstances at the age of 26.

***The bitter dispute over Terri's lack of care became a major euthanasia battle five years ago when her husband Michael Schiavo petitioned the court for permission to have her feeding tube removed, claiming she is in a persistent vegetative state and would not want to be kept alive "artificially." The Schindlers and a number of doctors and therapists believe she could be rehabilitated, but the courts have consistently sided with Schiavo and his lawyer, right-to-die advocate George Felos.

Florida Judge Rejects Governor's Bid to Help Terri Schiavo
By Jeff Johnson
CNSNews.com Congressional Bureau Chief
August 27, 2003

Capitol Hill (CNSNews.com) - Florida Circuit Judge George Greer Tuesday rejected a plea from Governor Jeb Bush to appoint a guardian ad litem to represent the best interests of Terri Schindler Schiavo, a 39-year-old disabled woman who suffered a brain injury in 1990 under questionable circumstances. Bush had intervened Monday after receiving 27,000 email messages asking for his help on Terri's behalf.

"I read [Gov. Bush's letter] because it came from the governor and I respect his position," Greer told the Tampa Tribune. "Beyond that, it is going in the file."

As CNSNews.com previously reported, Bush wrote Greer Monday asking him not to remove the disabled woman's feeding tube until a new guardian ad litem could "independently investigate" her condition. In the letter, Bush referenced the "fine balance between Mrs. Schiavo's right to privacy and her right to life," which Bush noted are co-equal under the Constitution.

"To err on one side is to prolong her existence, perhaps against her wishes and to continue the debate," Bush wrote. "To err on the other is an irrevocable act that affords no remediation."

But Greer told the Associated Press that he no longer has a choice in the matter.

"Frankly, I think I'm operating under a mandate from the 2nd District Court of Appeals," Greer said, "and frankly I don't think I can stray from that mandate."

In that same interview, however, the judge contradicted his own assessment of the limitation on his authority by stating that he was "not inclined" to appoint a guardian ad litem.

Michael Schiavo called Gov. Bush's intervention on behalf of Terri "crazy."

"The governor has deliberately twisted the facts in this case in an apparent effort to kowtow to his right-to-life political supporters," Schiavo told Tampa Tribune reporter David Sommer. "This has nothing to do with him. He should stay out of it."

Schiavo - who, for five years, has been seeking judicial approval to end his wife's life by denying her nutrition and hydration - also accused Terri's parents of manipulating their Catholic faith to keep their daughter alive.

"I believe in God and so did (?) Terri," Schiavo said, speaking of his still living wife in the past tense, "but they are out to push it on people... suddenly they are on a religious kick."

Judge refuses motion for hearing to set 'death date'

Greer also denied a motion Tuesday to hold an immediate hearing to set a date for the removal of Terri's nutrition and hydration tube. The hearing will be held, as previously announced, on Sept. 11. At that hearing, Greer will also rule on whether Schiavo may legally prohibit Terri's priest from visiting her.

Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, had also petitioned the court Monday to prohibit doctors from caring for Terri's current fever, labored breathing, vomiting, diarrhea and a "substantial infection."

"Given the imminence of the ward's death, further treatment (other than comfort care) for the ward's infection and other medical problems is unnecessary, unwarranted, inappropriate and futile," Felos said in an emergency motion, adding that Terri, "should be put back in hospice and receive comfort care and die in a peaceful setting."

Greer denied that motion, as well.

Michael Schiavo is using "privacy" as an excuse for denying Terri every contact from the outside world, even flowers. "One sign of the case's nastiness is the Schindlers' complaint that Schiavo limits their visits with their daughter. They also say he has refused to allow doctors to examine her, refused her antibiotics and needed dental work, refused to replace a broken wheelchair so she could be taken outdoors and refused the delivery of flowers from a friend to her room on her birthday."

"Her teeth are fine; she doesn't eat," Michael Schiavo said. "Why take her to a gynecologist? She was supposed to die months ago. I don't want her room filled with flowers from strangers or right-to-life activists. Even though she is vegetative she has a right to privacy."

I thought Gov Bush very eloquently made his case here, in this part:

To err on one side is to prolong her existence, perhaps against her wishes, and continue the debate. To err on the other is an irrevocable act that affords no remediation.

That is one thing that floors me .. This Judge should have long ago appointed an independent Guardian Ad Litem and not left her husband as her sole guardian .. especially since there are questions about her husband with abuse and the fractured bones that were reveled in xrays of Terry.

Everything I have read .. this Judge seems hell bent on having her killed

I know that Mr. Schiavo has tried to ban Terri's mother and family and priest from seeing her.

But, I don't know how a court could prevent doctors from ordering therapy, speach therapy (which is often actually swallowing therapy) and most especially oral nutrition.

Judge Greer has been with the husband since day one. A guardian ad litem would have been fair for Terri and her parents. Her parents love her but they are treated as the enemy. I'm ashamed this is happening in Pinellas County.

Judge Greer will not appoint a guardian ad litem. I have phone numbers from the phone book for the Clearwater Courthouse and all the guardianship phone numbers. He husband held a presser today and was very flippant about Jeb's letter and called the emailers a "bunch of right to lifers."

Hubby is looking a little nervous but with a pal like Judge Greer who is no Judge Moore, Terri has until the September 11 hearing to decide the date her starvation begins.

Here are the phone numbers: courthouse - 727-464-3000, guardianship numbers: 727-582-7563, 727-582-7771, and 727-464-8700. We can at least call as friends of Terri and voice our concerns.

Welcome, phenn!

In the case of the media's sources of information, we have an example of how Terri's nutritional situation is being managed.

Most of the media WON'T lift a spoon of accurate information to insert into their reporting...and...they rely on the tube feeding of information by influential biased parties.

The lack of fair, balanced and accurate reporting has been very disturbing and the locals have been the worst.

Demonstrators are welcome to convene at the Clearwater Courthouse on Court Street and Fort Harrison in Clearwater, FL. Thursday, September 11, 2003 is the scheduled hearing when Judge Greer is expected to select a date for termination of Terri's nutrition and hydration.

The front lawn of the courthouse sits directly on Fort Harrison. There is a large sidewalk (public property) direcly in front.

Bring signs. You can purchase poster board, black paint and a small brush for under $5.00 total. There is also reinforced poster board that does well in a breeze or rainy conditions for a dime or so more.

If you plan on attending, the hearing begins at 10.00 am. People begin to arrive for work at the complex by 8.30 am. Additionally, traffic along Fort Harrison is good and steady from 7.30 until about 9.30, so any time is appropriate.

Though a public sidewalk is considered encroachment, it is in front of a courthouse and the police station is a stone's toss away, so a PEACEFUL assembly is the only appropriate course.

Dress comfortably and bring a bottle of water. It's certain to be warm. Be prepared to speak to the media and know that they will be swarming that day. Explain to them why you got involved, what it means to you, why it causes you worry. No need to try and wrestle with the legal proceedings.

There is a lot of foot traffic in front of the courthouse as well. If someone stops and asks what all the fuss is about, take a bit of time to chat them up about Terri. They will probably thank you for it. Direct them to the web site, if you think of it.

Above all, the more the merrier. Understanding that people have jobs, obligations, families and bills to pay... if you can make the time, you are welcome and appreciated. If you want to try to organize something more solid, please email me.

Thanks one and all!

I have no reason to believe this is part of Terri's fight (perish the thought).

I was thinking more generally, too.

If there is an increase in the number of patients who are judged "ready to die," there will be a corresponding increase in the number of organs "ready to sell."

Perhaps that is an additional motivation for some right-to-diers.

Kasich's parents were killed (I believe instantly) in an auto accident shortly before he entered Congress, as I vaguely recall. I suspect that he has no interest in defending the rights of the terminally ill, as he has not had someone lying around for years in such a state of being. So many journalist will cover only what interests them or what enhances their political philosophy.

And Hannity and Ann Coulter, not to mention Thomas Sowell, have hopped on the Arnold bandwagon. I hope Arnold loses and these three regain their senses.

Maybe Hannity is so despondent over the Schiavo story that he does not want to cover it. He may think it will show the powerless of the FL GOP to stop euthanasia. He does not like to show where Republicans fail. More likely, I would not be surprised if he does not even know the details of the story. As you said, he is all-Arnold all the time.

Try Joseph Farah's radio program on the Internet at the same time if you have the time. It's on Radio America, I think is the name of the site.

Yea, they would want to harvest for organs, wouldn't they. Euthanasia boosters are basically 21st Century "Donner Party" people trying to stay alive at the expense of others. At least the Donner Party waited for the starving ones to die before they consumed their flesh.

But in poor Terri's case, what organs would there be to harvest? This is so sickening. We are seeing nazism in this case even if we call ourselves "anti-Nazi."

Oh, I missed Hannity when he interviewed Mr. Schindler and the sister of Terri. He does then know about this story. He is probably outraged over this, for he seems to be a very decent man. He probably feels helpless over this. He also does not like to show where Republicans fail when they have some power to act to prevent tragedies of this kind.

Have you found out if George Greer can be recalled?

It would be good to circulate recall petitions at the time of the hearing. We already know what he is going to rule. Nothing will change his mind, but it would be good if Pinellas Co. got up the courage to remove this sick judge.

I read the interview with Bob Schindler, Jr. It was so moving and sad. He said that he will try to leave FL after (he is still not reconciled to what will happen Thursday) Terri is starved and cremated. He doesn't think he can live in such a state. Who can blame him? I bet that poor family wishes they had chosen another state to move after they left PA. FL has too loose laws on euthanasia, and I doubt the people of FL even know how they are (without living wills) potentially just one serious auto accident away from being in Terri's condition.

Bob Schindler, Jr., also noted that he teaches in a Catholic school, and the archbishop (may be the wrong title) would ignore him during all this ordeal, not even look his way. The Catholic Church has stayed out of this case even as it pleads for mercy for convicted killers who have committed heinous crimes. Yet, poor Terri's only crime was foolishly to marry the wrong man. Twenty-year-olds are known for doing foolish things.

Organ harvesting is certainly something worth thinking about when it comes to things of this matter. But who else benefits when we start executing the disabled or elderly against their wishes? And, where is it all leading?

I realize this may sound a bit paranoid, but isn't medicine getting a bit too weird these days? It's all about cloning and building better tomatoes, but what about the people who are in serious need of intensive medical intervention? People like Terri and a million more like her? People who need the technology and advances that we strive for?

Terri costs money. Elderly cost money. Disabled cost money. Young couples who want designer babies or bigger (select organ here) or smaller noses or some kind of designer drug to make their child pay attention in school SPEND money.

Sounds like a rant, I know. But it almost makes sense.

Why keep disabled or elderly people around or treat seriously ill patients when there is so much MORE money to be made off of people who feed on sensationalized medical fears and claims of drug companies?

Look at all the drug adverts on telly. These people are interested in your health? Rubbish. They are in it for profit.

Medicine has lost its system of ethics, if you want my 2 cents.

I think the forces trying to off this young, innocent woman are a lot larger than any of us will ever understand. And I think there is a very systematic protocol or reasoning in place as well. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't help it if it crosses my mind.

I suspect that the families who authorize starvation by removal of feeding tubes are just interested in getting the former loved one out of the way so that they can resume their life of getting and spending. Plus, the sooner the disabled die, the more money there will be in any insurance settlement, will, or leftover bank account. I doubt that most think about selling organs.

But in the future, the sale of organs will become another unstated reason to hasten euthanasia in such cases.

One day for some the euthanasia will come back to haunt the family members who pushed it on their former loved ones.

Has anyone searched Tampa Judge Richard A. Lazzara's August 30, 2003, Order?

#5) The parties shall be prepared to address the jurisdiction of this Court in terms of the doctrine of state action, the doctrine of Rooker-Feldman, and whether the various federal statutes relied on by the Plaintiffs apply in light of the allegations of the complaint.

This is in reference to District of Columbia Court of Appeals v. Feldman, 103 S. Ct. 1303 (1983); Rooker v. Fidelity Trust Co., 4 S. Ct. 149 (1923).

What he is saying is that the federal government, Federal District Court, has no jurisdiction in states' rights...unless, of course, it's keeping The 10 Commandments off of state property. The Schindlers are barred and have to come up with a reason for an appeal, and do it through the state court.

That's the way I read it. If someone else has posted this information, forgive me.
