Ahhhhhh. Survey USA...

Wasn't that the one that had Arnold up 58% to whatever about a couple of weeks ago and was a total outlier to all other polls.....

Ambrose, with all due respect, if you don't see how Bustamante is vastly worse than even Davis, let alone Schwarzenegger,

Ambrose, Wolfstar is tactfully trying to point out that Gray doesn't want to give California to New York and Arnie doesn't want to make California part of Austria.

What if Schwarzeneggar and McClintock both gain more votes than Bustamante?

What would be the reason to vote for Schwarzeneggar?

Are you saying these groups are paying the bill and not one dime of my California or Federal taxes are going for this. If it's such a good deal why did you oppose it...

I'm not understanding your response. Here's my best shot at replying.

No, of course the groups aren't paying for it. But I believe the rationale for it was and is that it saves significantly more in tax dollars -- mostly in police response to delinquents' activities between 3 and 6 pm -- than it costs. I don't know the details.

I voted "No" before I found out, after the election, that these groups had supported the measure. At first blush, it'd looked like, as you say, another liberal cradle-to-grave program, etc.

My point is not that there is a "correct" stance on Prop 49, let alone that it's to have supported it. My point is that you're tossing around a lot of derogatory terms about a Proposition that had an absolute TON of right-wing conservative support -- and that you don't appear to know it had such support. When you bash Arnold in the future over Prop 49, you may at least want to acknowledge your awareness that the measure had several top conservatives and tightwad taxpayers' groups behind it. Just my opinion. Failure to do so makes you look not-so-well-informed -- like I was when I voted on it.

He takes votes away from Bustamante.

McClintock's best chance to win is with Arnie in the race.

McC's only chance to win this race is to drop out and change his name to Arnold Schwarzeneggar.

Thanks. Since a polling group probably doesn't change methodologies in the middle of an election, we can at least (perhaps) get some sense of the trends in support.

I will be watching channel 7 news here in LA at 6pm to find out more about the new poll. I will also be curious to read comparisons made between the new poll and the recent LA Times poll.

I agree, and in fact McC. will keep the heat on Arnie to stay "right" throughout the campaign. I hope he is smart enough, though, to time his exit to a position of relative strength where he can influence Arnold and maybe get promises of future support for his REAL run, which, I think, should be the U.S. Senate.

They reallly reallly believe there are more of them than is the case. The demographic that voted Ronnie in just ain't there anymore.

Well said. Many of us would love to see Tom become governor. I hope he stays in the race to present his case to the electorate. If he fails then he needs to remove himself quickly, though. Aiming for 100% of what I want and ending up with only 2% of what I want is not going to cut it when there's a front-runner offering 60%.

Ambrose, your flakey idea needs to be repudiated forthwith.

Interesting, but doesn't the fact that polls can come close to the election results show that they have at least some scientific basis? For example, the Field Poll people have been around for over 50 years. It seems unlikely that they could have lasted this long if their polls were garbage.

McC's only chance to win

Didn'y say McClintock could win...said his best chance was with Arnie in the race.

Any Republican is going to have an uphill battle if Cruz uses the culture card by mid September.

The poll at my house says...

3 Republican votes for Arnold.

But...

My Latino gardener and 2 Latino housekeepers say Bustamante.

Final answer...

Bustamante up 80% to Arnold's 20%

Darn.

Not really, because polls have shown that only 7% of Americans of Mexican decent bother to vote in any of the elections, so the hispanic culture card is a non-factor in this race.
