Our left-leaning U. S. Supreme Court ("leaning?" It's almost all the way over) has rejected the appeal of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore to keep the Ten Commandments memorial in the Alabama Judicial Building. Was anyone surprised?
Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum and author of Feminist Fantasies , noted that Justice Ruth Ginsburg has confessed that she and her fellow leftists on the Supreme Court are "'becoming more open to international law perspectives,' looking to United Nations treaties and foreign courts for guidance in deciding gay rights, death penalty and affirmative action cases."
When the Supreme Court endorsed racial preferences at University of Michigan, the New York Daily News reported: "In a concurring opinion, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer cited the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination." It also noted, "Justice Anthony Kennedy spotted another emerging world consensus in the Texas sodomy case. He argued that America must bring itself in line with the new thinking of modern Western civilization." New thinking? Is an internationalist Newthink now his guide in making his rulings?
Ms. Schlafly noted: "No constitutional argument justifies those two decisions that create new rights of sodomy and reverse racial discrimination. They evolved out of the social preferences of the shifting majorities of justices and their pandering to the liberal elites."
The Supremes would have honored Justice Moore's request if our Commandments had conformed to their leftist agenda. We'll have to finagle a bit to get what they like. The first Commandment states: "You shall have no other gods besides Me." The leftist Supremes have already ruled that G-d has no place in our atheistic, jaded, immoral, hedonistic society, nor has Jesus, Christmas, the Bible, prayer (especially in schools), or the Ten Commandments.
But leftists aren't opposed to worship. Here's a replacement commandment that they would uphold: "You shall worship leftist celebrities, the United Nations, diversity, our global village, diverse lifestyles, and international bureaucrats." They'll add new objects of veneration as they discover them.
Our next Commandment says we shan't worship idols. My on-line Merriam-Webster dictionary defines idol as "a representation or symbol of an object of worship" and "an object of extreme devotion." Leftists are extremely devoted to international organizations, diversity, and the other things we covered in their first commandment, so we don't need another. We can reduce their list of commandments to nine. We could have them worship the UN building itself as an idol, but Americans may soon succeed in evicting the UN from it.
The next one is easy: "You shall not take the name of the Lord your G-d in vain." The leftist version states: "You shall often take the name of G-d in vain, especially if a devout Christian is nearby."
The next Commandment states: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." Another easy one: "Celebrate our sacred days, especially our Communist-socialist May Day; World Peace Day; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Week; and United Nations Day. Go out and demonstrate or destroy something."
The next one gets a bit complicated: "Honor your father and your mother." Well, "father" is definitely out, and we can't honor married stay-at-home heterosexual mothers, so the leftist version would read, "Honor single mothers (only if they're single on purpose), lesbian-feminist mothers, the Earth Mother, and 'domestic partners.'"
"You shall not murder" becomes, "You shall murder inconvenient babies up to the time they are born." Leftists can modify this commandment in the future to include the proposals of a Princeton professor who wants to give parents the right to euthanize newborn children with defects, and a Harvard professor who wants to eliminate the white race.
"You shall not commit adultery" becomes: "Adultery is encouraged everywhere, even in the Oval Office, because fidelity is an archaic leftover from the oppressive days when marriage existed only between a man and a woman, and wife-swapping and orgies were wrongly discouraged." Leftists will update this commandment after they have successfully established pedophilia, necrophilia, incest, bestiality, and sadomasochism as the norm in America.
The next Commandment gets a bit complicated. "You shall not steal" simply can't apply to the government when it passes tax laws that confiscate more and more of the earnings of hardworking "rich" Americans, including every family earning a bit over minimum wage. The leftist version becomes: "The government shall steal all it wishes from anyone it defines as rich, except trial lawyers, who support our beloved agenda."
The next Commandment states: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." The major media endorsed Bill Clinton's courtroom perjury and the commandment that leftists had supported all along: "Leftist politicians and activists may lie and bear false witness to get what they want. If any members of the vast right wing conspiracy get even a comma wrong, hang them."
The final Commandment admonishes us not to covet our neighbor's house, wife, male servant, ox, donkey, or anything else that belongs to our neighbor. Asset forfeiture laws bestow on government agencies the power to covet and seize anything they say may have been used in a crime, even if they file no charges, so they're exempt from our Commandment.
Here's the leftist commandment: "You can covet anyone's wife, husband, son, or daughter no matter what the age or gender, or whatever the act. We must all be free to practice our unique sexuality, and never condemn anyone for practicing theirs, no matter how bizarre we think it may be. We must never be judgmental." I could add something about the male servant, ox, and donkey, but this is a family-friendly page.
Our leftist justices and their cohorts will rework the proposed commandments until they're sure that no taint of G-d or American values remains. They just need a bit more input from international organizations and foreign courts.
