Publisher Simon & Schuster says it's delighted with the success of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's book "Living History."
But 75 Simon & Schuster employees won't be sharing in the celebration. They've been laid off to help defray the costs of Sen. Clinton's whopping $8 million book advance.
A company representative tells the New York Post that there's no connection between the layoffs and the former first lady's jackpot.
But the New York Press reports that it would take sales of more than 1.5 million copies for S & S to even come close to breaking even. Meanwhile, the publisher claims its sold only 1.2 million since the book's debut on June 9, with sales dwindling every week.
"[It] should be known that the result of the overpayment [to Sen. Clinton] is that 75 men and women no longer have jobs," the Press insists.
Perhaps Hillary can make sure that the workers whose salaries she coopted get an extension of their unemployment benefits.

The needs of the many (the unwashed masses in need of Hitlery's wisdom & leadership) outweigh the needs of the few (75 little people out of work).

Remember when Terry "The Punk" McCauliffe was on blabbling about how so many unemployed Americans were waking up to watch Bush in a flight suit land on an aircraft carrier at taxpayer's expense wondering where their next job or paycheck was going to come from?

Just as I have always said. It wasn't so much a payout as a payoff.

Welll, I guess we know where some of those people worked, they read the writing on the wall. I"ve heard so many stories about her book sales and signings; you can't go to a signing with a previously purchased book. You have to buy one that day, at that store. I was told by an employee of one book store chain; they were forced to purchase books by the corporation and have only sold a couple copies. I also heard that some people, my guess is Hollywood pukes, buy it by the box.

A few diehard liberals will buy the book I'm sure. I hardly ever see anyone reading it on the subway or the streets of NYC and this is a very liberal town.

Don't forget what she said while giving testimony in congress about how her health care plan would bankrupt a lot of small businesses: "We can't be held responsible for every under-capitalized business in the country."

And where's Bubba's book. I suppose it will come out about March when the final Dem candidate will have been selected. A tell all book??? Just another Grimm Fairy Tale about the Emperor and his subjects.

Can you imagine the outrage this would have engendered if this story were about Newt Gingrich, for instance, and his book?
