Geoghan killed in prison (Boston Herald)
Breaking news/by Eric Convey
Saturday, August 23, 2003
Former priest John Geoghan, a notorious pedophile whose case sparked the clergy molestation scandal of the past 18 months, died this afternoon after being attacked at the state prison in Shirley.
``The perpetrator has been isolated,'' said Kelly Nantell, a spokeswoman for the state Deparment of Corrections.
``Our investigation continues,'' she said.
The matter has been referred to the Middlesex County District Attorney Martha Coakley's office.
Geoghan was serving a nine-to-10 year sentence at MCI Shirley for allegedly groping a boy at a Waltham swimming pool.
More than 140 people have claimed they were abused by Geoghan, claiming they were fondled or raped at locations ranging from church rectories to their own homes.
Geoghan would become one the most notorious pedophiles in the country - not only for the extent of his rampage against children but because relevations about his case led to the unraveling of secrecy within the Archdiocese of Boston.
Bernard Cardinal Law's cordial letters to Geoghan, mixing discipline with praise for his priestly service, that pushed many victims from disbelief to outrage.

The not-so-good Father G. and his sleeze-ball compadres are worse than mere pedophiles; they too are murders, killing the Church, destroying the faith and the faithful. There must be a special place in Hell. And let's hope it doesn't include his getting molested; he'd probably like it.

Do unto others as you would have them to unto you ---- a lesson Geoghan learned very late in the game. I still think that what happened to him might have been what saved his soul ---- suffering can bring you to true repentence and salvation.

thats not a half bad idea So...let's say that inmate #1 is incarcerated for 2 years for auto theft. Inmate #2 is incarcerated for 18 months for petty larceny. Inmate #2 has served 14 months of his sentence and decides he wants out now... so he then murders inmate #1.
This is a good idea?

You have to have seen what former Freeper, Guillermo was posting to appreciate the appreciation. I actually did see it. It's not people like Guillermo who are destroying the credibility of the Church. It's happening from within --- with the bad bishops and priests that have allowed true evil to go on --- who have protected evil.
To me it's the same with America and the Church --- both are being attacked by evil forces and much of the evil is coming from inside, trying to destroy from within. We had a president who turned out to be a sexual predator/rapist, we've seen Congressmen doing the same to the young Congressional pages as the evil priests were doing to boys. Liberalism is attacking the foundations of both my country and my church ---- but I have left neither.
The other thing --- priests and bishops and Popes aren't above the need for salvation, they are just as susceptible to evil, they need Jesus and redemption.

Warning to other child molesting faggots: you get what you deserve. Maybe Geoghan finally learned that "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

I said that those who say it is are perhaps the real tools.
OK, based on what?
How could any God fearing individual continue to support and worship in this church? I don't like to bash any religion, (with the exception of islam) but more and more the catholic church is becoming a haven for pedophiles. Worst is they're more concerned with hiding it and protecting the molesters then protecting the victims! I left the catholic church for a non-denominational Christian Church a long time ago.
On the outside looking in now, I can't understand why the pews arn't completely empty.
At what point does the flock rise up and scream enough is enough and demand the resignation, (and conviction) of anybody that had anything to do with cover ups or molestations!

I went to the Catholic Church for years, and I think you are wrong, there are very great men who could be leaders in the church and be a compliment to the Vatican. It is perfectly normal in G-D's eyes and to every other Judeo/Christian faith to be married and be leaders in the church. I am not saying that there are not heterosexual men that are pedophiles, but at least the catholic church wouldn't be a magnet for them.
Look how many millions of cathlolics hard earned tithings have had to go to pay off sexual victims of these priests.
I think that money was supposed to be used for something other than that! don't you?

If all sinners are forgiven, one has to wonder what is the need for a Hell??? Not all sinners seek to be forgiven.

If you worked in medicine longer, you would know that some drugs dilate the pupils and marijuana is one of them. That is why you will see pot smokers turning off lights and avoiding light rather than heading for it. Perhaps PCP and some other drugs cause people to "go toward the light", but you will find those are generally caused by hallucinogens.

I have no intention of discussing this with a person such as yourself.
I merely cleared up the erroneous impression your post made that I had made a statement I had not. I was quoting someone else whose post was deleted.
I'll not have comments such as that associated with my name.

The Catholic church is a magnet for anything and everything the least bit unsavory. Always has been. Always will be. It's all an attempt by Satan to destroy the church and it's not going to stop anytime soon.
To: adam_az
Agreed. Their ancestors are probably the folks you see in old photos standing proudly around the hanging black guy they just lynched.

I agree with you,
No-one should drive under the influence of any substance legal or illegal I think that is a given.
Sorry if I implied differently.

Obviously:
A Gay Bisphop in the Episcopal Church and pedophiles in the catholic church, yes I would say Satan is in the church
