Conservatives yesterday indicated more support for Arnold Schwarzenegger's bid to become governor of California.

But they still stood ready to jump to one of two other major Republican candidates if the "Terminator" star stumbles badly in the campaign to replace Democratic Gov. Gray Davis.

I suggest you take a look at Tom McClintock's website. he gives specifics on a wide range of issues.

Yeah, well, Arnold's gonna appoint a committee after the election.

"I give Arnold an A-minus," said Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. "The Hollywood media fawn all over him, and there was speculation that he was unprepared for the political press, that it would eat him for lunch. It didn't."

>>>Still, having George Shultz as an advisor carries a lot of validity and weight to the campaign.

No doubt CJ. Shultz is a political heavyweight. But so far, it hasn't turned Arnold into a fiscal conservative, or pressured him to reveal his governing agenda for California. If Arnold was a social moderate, that would be one thing. At least conservatives could work around his shortcomings, but the problem is Arnold's failure to embrace a fiscal responsible policy and release the specifics and details of his plan.

The word I hear is that the duo of Bush-Rove wants McClintock and Simon to drop out and support Arnold.

Personally, I'm still on the fence in this election but if you see no difference between Cruz Busta"mecha" and the Terminator at this point in time, you're not paying attention! I'm not saying Arnold is more than a moderate and I'm not guaranteeing he won't raise taxes but for Cruz, it's a sure thing! Arnold sounded a little like Reagan in that press conference. I like McClintock more but may have to vote for Schwarzenegger when the time comes.

Keep an eye on the ball!!!! The goal now is the remove Davis AND prevent Bustamove from winning!!

Cruz Bustamante tried to become governor by having a kangaroo committee appoint him.

As the FrontPageMag.com writer said, Bustamante had to be reminded, California is not Mexico--yet.

Bustamante has not repudiated his affiliation with MEChA with its motto "For the race, everything; for those outside the race, nothing."

Then there was Cruz' public use of the n-----s epithet--which seems to have drawn no criticism from the liberal press which crucified Lott for much less.

Democrat registration exceeds Republican by over a million voters--plus, Democrats know how to cheat (Loretta Sanchez v. Bob Dornan).

California has a Democrat governor, two Democrat senators, and a Democrat legislature; McClintock has less chance at winning than General Custer.

Arnold is a successful businessman who will audit before correcting the mess Davis has made.

He will win, and he will pull California's economy out of its death spiral.

Those were not opinions, they were demographic FACTS, showing why McClintock has zero chance of being elected.

It's Arnold or Bustamante. You favor Bustamante.

>>>Any conservative voting for anyone other than Arnold, is voting for Bustamante.

You just don't get it and never will.

We're not talking about someone whose a moderate Republican. Arnold is a liberal RINO!

Get with the program.

People jumped on the Schwarzenegger bandwagon, because they wanted to oust Davis and make sure Bustamonte doesn't become Governor. Many conservatives and Republican's have turned a blind eye to Arnold's shallow campaign and hollow rhetoric. Again, the problem with this scenario is that what California gets is another liberal. That's not progress in my book.

And you have a problem with this reasoning? Do YOU want to have Bustamante to win?

I assume you meant #46... but I don't buy this for a second. Bustamante will raise taxes. I have no doubt about it. He will never lower them... ever, ever, ever. People always talk about the stupid Pete Wilson tax increase of the early 90's but they never mention that he also cut taxes significantly helping to foster in the tech explosion of the the mid 90's! The fact is, Arnold might raise taxes, he might cut them, he might do nothing to them. I prefer a little bit of uncertainty over the absolutely certain liberalism of Bustamante and I reject the idea that it is a open and shut case that Schwarzenegger is going to raise taxes. He may. He may not. My Assemblyman and Senator in California happen to both be Republicans and I will make my views known to them when the time comes.

Excellent analysis. However, I bet that many of those registered Democrats are illegals and/or duplicates since they tend to move frequently and you CAN'T take people off the voter list.

Gushy puff-piece love letters? The mainstream press wrote much puffier ones for Clinton. And speaking of love letters, Paul Krugman ripped Arnold to shreds today.... for (ready to giggle?).... fuzzy math!

Just another warm and fuzzy love letter ;-)

Why are you so concerned with California politics when you live in Colorado? Geez, you have no idea of THEIR political situation.

Better to have 1/2 a loaf than get the Cruz shaft. Wake up and think LOGICALLY. Yes, we all Loved Reagan, and Arnold is another Hollywood Reagan type.

Look, I've already told you, I support McClintock. You best clean that wax outta your ears and take off those blinders. Bustamonte is a liberal. Arnold is a liberal too. WTF is the difference?

PresBush wouldn't mind Arnold winning, because it may, just may, give him a chance to secure California in 2004. But that's a real longshot. In fact, at this point in time, its an impossibility.

Arnold is a businessman who can turn Californi around.

Bustamante will complete CA's death spiral.

Given the demographics and the reality of CA, supporting McClintock is the same as supporting Bustamante. FACT.
