A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Last week, we brought you "Cooking With FReepers" featuring guest host and Master Chef, Carlo. Throughout that thread, several *fattening* recipes were passed around.

Taking into consideration that the holidays are right around the corner, I felt that it would be prudent to help you shed those unwanted pounds brought on by trying out those delicious recipes and sitting endless hours in front of the PC to FReep. So, being the concerned FReeper FRiend that I am, I present to you:

by dansangel

Admit it - Free Republic is *so* addictive, you just don't get anywhere near the recommended daily amount of exercise. You're in good company, so don't feel ashamed. By following the scientifically developed exercise regimen designed specifically for FReepers and presented below, you will be guaranteed to "shed those unwanted pounds, tone up flab and add *years* to your life, or your money back!"

So, what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

First, it is *imperative* that you have the proper area in which to perform your exercise program. Study the above chart carefully and conform your workspace to the specs given before starting the FReepercise program.

Next, it is always recommended that you start out slowly and work your way up to the more difficult exercises. With this in mind, the above illustrated exercise is perfect to start. Take your hands and s-t-r-e-t-c-h them as far as they will go over the width of the keyboard. Now, relax. S-t-r-e-t-c-h and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest for five minutes and go on to the next set.

OK. Next, you will need to find a soft, squishy object that fits in the palm of your hand. A cat or dog toy will do. Looking at the above example, hold the object in your hand in a similar fashion and s-q-u-e-e-z-e. Relax. Now, once again s-q-u-e-e-z-e and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest only for four minutes this time and then it's on to the next set.

Now comes the fun. It is scientifically proven that computer games cause your heart rate to elevate along with blood pressure and respiration. Since this is a sign of exertion, it qualifies as FReepercise. Fire up your favorite program and have at it for 30 minutes. When finished, take a five minute breather. Then, it's on to something a bit more rigorous.

Place both of feet firmly on the floor. As illustrated above, lean a-l-l the way over to your right, as far as you can go. Then, lean a-l-l the way over to your left, again as far as you can go. Repeat ten times. Feel the burn! This time, rest ten minutes. You'll need it.

For this one, you'll need to leave the comfort of your work space. Find a couple of two-pound weights and an object that can be used as a step. A couple of wine bottles and the kid's annoying boombox will do. Look at the picture above and do the drill. Think he looks like a dork? Just don't look in the mirror. You'll be fine. Oh, and about fifty of those will suffice.

Tired yet? Good. No pain, no gain. Repeat the above carefully planned regimen for the next 6 weeks and you, too can look like this:

Or this:

*Guaranteed* ~ Or, your money back. [*G*]

3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

God Bless Our Military

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

my Norton has been busy today

I'm glad it's not just me....GRRRRR! I had over 30 of the little so-and-sos as of last night. I'm at work and about to access my email by web. At least that way I can just go through them and delete them without having Norton pop up about every minute!

'Cause it taste's good?

I must admit I can handle a good latte - but I guess that's like saying I drink milkshakes for the milk! LOL!!

For the most part it sounds easy but I just can't find the extra 5 minutes in a day that's needed to create a quality thread. :-)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

He really has *no clue*, huh?

Yes, my favorite part is where Billie writes "smile (Oops!),", inasmuch as we all know that would be quite a trick for the Emaciated One.

In half an hour I'll get my exercise when I walk to the cafeteria for lunch.

((((((((shaggy eel))))))))))

I *hate* it when I miss you, darn it! The time difference is astounding.

Hope you are having a great one - you are probably asleep right now. Thanks for bumping by! :-)

,,, I sleep while you exercise Dansy! Love it. While you sleep, I don't exercise at all. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who do though. Lots of FReepers have kept me up to speed with the temperatures you're getting across the US. Aircon gyms would have to be the order of the day, surely?

...hope all is going well.

Lots of FReepers have kept me up to speed with the temperatures you're getting across the US.

In Atlanta, where summers are typically *HOT* and steamy, we have been blessed this year. Only 5 or 6 days so far that have reached 90, whereas by now last year we had had as many that hit 100 degrees.

The midwest and Texas have been hit hard with high temps along with the southwest regions as well.

.45MAN uses an air conditioned gym while I prefer to exercise at home (hate having an audience - LOL!) with an Airdyne and some free weights. And, of course, there's always *FReepercise*! :-)

...hope all is going well.

My very best regards and (((((HUGS))))) to you and the missus, as well. :-)
