When I read the names of the ACLU lawyers it reminds me more of the A.D.L. than anything else. Does ACLU stand for "Anti Christian Litigation Unit"?

I used punch card voting machines for 30 years in a predominantly white suburb of Seattle and NO ONE, EVER said they were unreliable or that I was "disenfranchised" because I was using them. For partisan political purposes, the ACLU is using a phony issue to try to scuttle the recall election.

Exactly. This is one time I agreed with Justice O'Connor: she asked rhetorically, during oral arguments in Bush v. Gore, why for heaven's sake couldn't the rule simply be, Disqualify ALL non-detached-chad ballots, because those voters didn't follow the clear instructions that require not only a full through-punching but also assuring that the chad is detached!

Touche. The answer to your question is probably that the ACLU was satisfied with the results of the election, so found no need to fabricate bogus, quasi-racist arguments like they're using now.

Also, how about all these State run LOTTO's? I take it that the minorities are also too stupid to punch (or mark) all those complicated lotto cards.

The ACLU should look into the paper ballots we're using in S. Texas! We actually have to take a pencil and mark an X in the box beside the name of the candidate we want in office! I feel so disenfranchised by the demonrats!;^{and I'm a minority here}

The ACLU thinks people are too dumb to know how to vote. Disenfranchising them for six months has got to be a major advance for civil liberties!
