Chaos and cannibalism under Congo's bloody skies

'The soldiers had red eyes, and they were singing and dancing. They slaughtered the priest, cut him to pieces, removed his heart and liver and cooked them. The rest of the group had to pay money or eat the human flesh to be allowed to leave. Another four men, three women and three children were killed.' Among the dead was a pregnant woman who was gutted.
In Congo for the past 50 years tales of cannibalism have been apocryphal. Today they are a norm - what better way to sow terror into the hearts of your enemies than to instil the fear that they could be eaten?

"Of course you would defend PETA." Am I the only one that has noticed, that there is more hell raised against Americans who eat chicken, pork and beef -- than against Africans that eat humans....
Where in the hell is PETH, or Jesse Jackson, or Al Sharpton, or Martin Luther King Jr., or NAAC, or ANY of the Black Salvation/Proverty Pimps that "look out" for Black folks?
Seems their efforts should be directed at Africa, and other points South and East...
Could their absence be related to the fact that there is no chance of a "shake down" outside of the U.S.?
Or perhaps, they fear being dinner!
Damned black hypocrites..

As un-PC as it would seem this practice was wide spread in West Africa during the slave trade. There are reports from Portuguese traders of victims being paraded through villages and their major body parts sold or auctioned off. When the sale was complete the victim was slaughtered and the parts apportioned. As regrettable as slavery was it may have been preferable to the conditions in Africa then and the descendents are better off than their distant cousins in Africa today.

dennis, I checked out your link to
Lord of Darkness.
I wasn't aware that Harlequin had a line of Romance Novels for men, he he he...
The cover art and the synopsis gave it away.
What's the male version of "bodice-ripper"?

tres chic nouvelle African cuisine: Chinese take-in. Very witty.

Toss lots of money at them to "cure" AIDS.
Surely that will help these people. That brings up an interesting question. Can AIDS be spread by cannibalism?

I blame the Belgians. They ruled this, this, place and they left it this way. I'm in favour of putting up a fence around the place and using up our stocks of napalm. If you have a rabid dog, you have no other choice but to put it under.

Africa's too all-encompasing a word. The north africans annd Saharans are more related to the middle east and the mediterranean countries. South Africa is different. East Africa is better off due to heavy Asian influences but West Africa is a place where even the devil would fear to go.

A kinda of Chinese version of liebenstraum, eh? But you forget that there are tons of Indians in Africa too. In most cases they ARE the business community, as they're the only ones with the gumption to set up business. Idi Amin (may he burn) kicked them out of Uganda and uganda's economy flopped immediately. The Indians went to the UK (in the 70s) and started businesses which are the backbone of the countries economy now (the Mittal steel factories, Lord Swraay Paul etc.)

but I just think that Africa and a lot of places are just lost causes.... Much of the world was a lost cause before the gospel was conveyed and began its work of redeeming individuals and their cultures. When there were Christians in Africa (the Ethiopian Coptic Church) in the First Century, human sacrifice was still being practiced in the British Isles and other places in Europe. Africa will have its day in the sun when much of the West is under sharia. May God bless and keep you, watchin, and your dedicated colleagues and may you have some wonderful experiences with African Chrisitians who really know what it is to count the cost.
=============================================================
As I've said earlier, there's a big difference between the North Africans and Ethiopians. The Egyptians, Ethipians etc. have been part of the Middle Eastern, Mediterranean 'continent' and thinking for millenia. East Africa is influenced by Asia but W AAfr is a gadforsaken land.

I think we need to add more money to the 15 billion to include warning the Africans of health hazards from eating any missionaries from the Northeast U.S..
