but it wouldn't cross into the Western half of the country, or into the Texas Interconnect. Figure Georgia's safe?

Not unless it's deliberate -- then they can target the Western US as well.
Can you imagine people being stuck inside subways? Must be terrible.
To: agrace
Whoa...people are taking over the bridges in NYC because the subways are down.
To: FairOpinion
Even with a fire in one powerplant location, this sounds like too large an area to be affected just from that one fire.
I agree with that,very strange...

I was trying to sell about $21,000 worth of stock five minutes before the market closed. Scottrade's website would not let me do it. As you might expect the market closed and I still own almost 650 shares of Home Depot which I wanted to unload.

One of my brothers mentioned back during the 90s, there was a very large blackout in West Texas, centering around a technician cleaning something and managing to knock out power to hundreds of thousands.Last Tuesday, operators of SMUD (Sacramento) were practicing their rapid load shedding procedures when one operator inadvertently activated the code. SMUD says they will not punish him for cutting off power to over 70k before they could deactivate the load shedding code.
