Hannity station went dead for about 20 seconds. Said he had never seen anything like it.

Good post. They irritate the heck out of me. You're right, it is as if they are hoping for another attack. Sick.

You're underground so it has to be cooler, plus a subway car is not as claustraphobic.
Have you ever been on a NYC Subway in rush hour? Its neither of those two. To quote Elaine from Seinfeld "The heat, my god the heat!"

My expectation would be that the motorman would direct passengers to leave the trains and walk to the nearest station. Wouldn't exactly be fun, though.

Isn't it?! I would have quoted the whole song if space allowed. Any band/entertainer that turns a critical eye on its own industry is okay by me.

The reason the power is brought back slowly in small segments is too prevent overloading the system on restart. Apparently that is the standard method for dealing with outages and restarts, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

I have been stuck on a subway before...that manhatten transfer from Times Square to Grand Central....in fact, I think it breaks down every trip.....it was steamy as hell down there....of course, I would take that over an elevator.

You are on a diferent system there. TVA.

You mean the power companies were silly enough to allow Microsoft software to run the power grid?
Oh, dear Heavens no...they couldn't be that dumb, could they?...
To: Dianna
They didn't say, just that reports were coming in that Pennsylvania had power outages .....

...NBC steaming feed on at work.Yeah, I've always considered NBC to be a steaming load, but I've never considered feeding on it.

A New York subway is the worst place to be stuck in.
It is a living hell for people in those cars. Undergound in New York is worse than above during the summer.

I hope those in elevators get helped soon. No food, no water, no toilet, no air conditioning...

Generally speaking, the farther north you got, the worse it was. In Fairmont, they got about 24 inches of snow or so. Here, we didn't get that much, but because it hovered near freezing, we got ice. Lots of it, covering everything. Beautiful, but a giant hassle. Trees snapped, dropping branches across power lines all over central WV. I had several trees on my property alone that were damaged by ice.

Another reason for the nervousness in some is that the drip, drip, drip of liberal/Dem contenders for President saying we are vulnerable has eroded their confidence in our security systems. Well it's the liberal/dems fault this happened. President Bush tried to tell them when he first came to office that our grid system was in trouble. They voted it down. The entire energy package was voted down when the dems were in control of the senate.
Maybe NOW we can get an energy package passed. People who won't listen have to learn the hard way.

This should help the economy. A run on batteries, flashlights, water, ice, etc. Then if food is lost, a run on the grocery stores!
Look for another consumer spending spike for August! lol

I think it is presumptious on balance, though in this case it is probably valid.
I do think they are too quick to rule out foul play, as a matter of course. I don't think they would ever say 'this looks like foul play' early in the game, unless they absoloutley had to (like a 747 cruising through the empire state building, or something).
