Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

Well here I am again..... asking for your prayers.

Logan's Uncle G and his wife Ann received devastating news today. There is a problem with "the Bean"... their baby that's due 1-1-11. They are testing to see if the baby has Cystic Fibrosis or, if what they're looking at is an infection. The tests won't come back for 8-10 days. There are some other things that aren't "normal", but I really was so shocked at the news that I'll leave that unsaid until I know more or understand it better. The high risk PG doctor told them that the infection or CF is the only possible scenario to what is showing up in the ultra sound. If it's CF, they were told that worst case is the baby would die at birth or be still born.... best survival for someone with CF is 30 years with a lot of problems as they go along. The won't start Ann on meds for a possible infection because they are so strong and hard on her until they know for sure that that's what it is. They were told that this has nothing to do with the problems she had in France. **BG'S NOTE: They went on a doctor approved vacation before "The Bean" was born..and Ann got sick there..**

Boy! Have I been blind sighted by this news! But immediately I thought about all this family has fought and won.... of the miracle of our Logan, of little baby great-great niece Layla, and all of the "perfectly healthy" children we have been blessed with. And in my immediate thought... I was reminded of just how powerful the prayers were that were offered when we asked. So please take time to say one for this much loved, much wanted tiny infant and her/his parents. No 2 people in the world are more loving and want children more than these 2. And in the end, if God decides that they should be gifted with one in need, one very special baby who requires what they can give, then that's what we will accept.

Call in the angels folks...... we need them badly. Please pass this to your prayer groups. And as always..... thank you... for your love and for your prayers...

Blessings to all......

best survival for someone with CF is 30 years with a lot of problems as they go along.

Well, that MAY be true, but consider the following.

1. I know a two girls (sisters) with CF from church, who need treatment, but are extremely active and accomplished college graduates. One of them is 30 and married, and I have not heard that she's failing.

2. I have a CF kid on my lacrosse team. He's 13, going on 14. He, too, needs treatment (last year he backslid on his meds and was hospitalized for some weeks). But he plays lacrosse, basketball, and is otherwise very physically active.

3. CF treatments have gotten a LOT more effective over the past several years.

So ... it's going to be a burden, and it may be serious for this baby. My examples are meant to tell you that it is NOT necessarily a really early death sentence.

Prayers up. My friend’s daughter has CF; there is a lot going on with the foundation and the lifespan has increased.

I hope all is well with their baby.

Thank you for shaking me back to reality! I really do appreciate it. I think the sheer shock of the possiblity set me in a panic mode for a bit.

I know that in every walk of life, there are those who excel no matter the task at hand. If this child does have CF, then we will be there to guide, love it and move all the boulders out of the way that we possibly can.

I will pass your message on to my son... the daddy to be.

Thank you DL. I’m reminded of the “what could be” with Logan during our most fearful times with him. Today, at 7 and such a delightful, healthy child... it’s the very thing that reminds me to “keep the faith”.

The doctor did tell them that there are improvements in the treatments, etc. So thank you for the prayers, and well wishes.

Hugs!!
Nana

I remember when “our” Logan had a possible diagnosis of CF.
Chilled me to the bone, having had a very close family member pass away from CF years ago.
Tough diagnosis.

Prayers up that all will be well with this little one!!
HUG!
