MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 5 — The clergyman seeking to become the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church has been cleared of 11th-hour allegations, church sources have confirmed, NBC News’ Jim Avila reported Tuesday afternoon. The vote by bishops to confirm the elevation of the Rev. V. Gene Robinson, which had been postponed Monday for an investigation into the surprise allegations, was rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

That's what we're going to have to find out.

I'm kind of sorry to have spouted off so much. I normally don't do that. This issue, however, is reaching a boiling point for many people and I could not hold my tongue.

Society has a right and obligation to create a social and cultural atmosphere. In Arab countries they may have polygamy as an example. In other countries, incest may be accepted.

The point is, I am not willing to sit back and accept aberrant deviate behavior as somehow being normal. It's not, and I refuse to have it forced on me. Homosexuality may be normal for one individual or another but it is not normal for a society. If this behavior is allowed to co-exist as normal, other abnormal behaviors will demand inclusion.

That is what I don't understand. He left his wife to take up with another man in a sexual relationship. That's adultery. Whatever way you want to cut it, it is still adultery.

I don't know... have they? Please provide documentation. And certainly not to the extent of the RCC. Hell, I'm considering switching to the Anglican Rite of the RC myself, so I'm not NOT on your side here. But the website of the local Anglican Usage church noted that their spiritual overseer was the discredited and sacked Bernard Cardinal Law of Boston. Imagine how that made me feel. I would really rather not leave the spiritual community that is my home and is most gospel & mission oriented, whether you like to believe it or not. If I do I must be assured I'm not jumping from the frying pan into the fire, as it were. At the parish level, many Episcopal churches are on the right track.

Yeah, but did they DO ANYTHING about the perverts? I'm not so sure they did.

The short answer is that it is a conservative denomination, created in 1873. They debated whether to call it the Reformed Episcopal Church or the Restored Episcopal Church. They are Calvinists; there are no female clergy; their ministers are called presbyters or ministers, not priests (evidencing their commitment to the priesthood of all believers); bishops are pastors of local churches, not cathedrals; they use the old Book of Common Prayer; they do not teach transubstatiation; their clergy either wear the Geneva preaching robe, or the simple vestments of the Anglican; they preach personal salvation; they preach the Word intently; etc.

I will post in a separate posting their history if anyone wants to read it.

Church used to be a place where you learned about His word, His love and your resposibility. Today you hear about his love, now go love one another.

Eh, responsibility? What's that?

No thanks.

Very interesting. Much of the 1928 BCP in that. Thanks!

Why don't all the members who think the way you do about it stay home for a month or two? We'd see how long the church would stick to it's "new convictions" with empty pews.

We sure can. Our parish in So Cal runs around 60 converts a year through its program. Every Catholic Church has one. It runs about a year and ends with a beautiful service on the evening of Holy Saturday in which unbaptized people are welcomed into the church and receive Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. Those previously baptized in another Christian denomination get to skip the Baptism. Each potential convert is sponsored by a member of the parish who works closely with the potential convert throughout the year.

Sadly, I continue to think belonging to the church today is more of a social event, where the congregation can visit and catch up with each other.

As far as religion is concerned, they are so afraid of not being liked or being exclusive in their views that they are willing to accept anything they think will prove how "inclusive" and PC they really are.

They had to get this done in a hurry so that more questions would'nt be asked. One can only wonder what kind of celebrations will take place and how hard they will be laughing as they got away with publicly defaming religion.

You are under the mistaken assumption that they are follow the same moral system as you and would constrain their beliefs and behaviors by logic.

It sounds a lot like the Anglican with the Book of Common Prayer.

God bless you in your pursuits.

I agree 100%. I am sickened by what has gone on. But I won't let perverts drive me out of the Church. I'll stay and fight.

The next step for this homosexual will be to explain to his New Hampshire flock that the bible is wrong and he is right.
