Hillary Clinton spoke on Friday, August 1, to a group of liberal lawyers misnamed as the American Constitution Society (ACS) at the Capitol Hilton in downtown Washington, D.C.
For the sixth (6th) time in just over 7 weeks, FReepers of the DC Chapter left their undisclosed locations to FReep the woman who would be President. This was an up close and personal FReep of Mrs. Clinton as will be detailed below.
Our attendance honor roll for this gathering of eagles: BufordP, Staytrue, Angelwood, Kristinn, and BillF.
There were quite a few instances of favorable responses to us as well as the usual negative reactions.
Tour buses were stopping in front of the Hilton a few feet from us to pick up and discharge tourists. Several tourists gave us thumbs up signs and otherwise responded positively. Some asked why we were there and we told them Hillary was speaking. I told them to watch out for low flying brooms.
One of the tour bus drivers used her bus PA system to announce "Democracy in action. Anti-Clinton people on the right." All of the bus windows were open so I yelled a response: "pro-America people who don't like the Clintons and what they did to the country."
One of the few tourists who reacted negatively to us put her hands over her ears.
Several of the liberals attending the ACS meeting or just in the area engaged us in brief debates. One guy asked us why we disliked Mrs. Clinton. Angelwood gave numerous reasons and then said that the Clintons looted the White House furniture and silverware. The guy said, "The New York Times said that the White House was NOT looted." I replied, "Did Jayson Blair write that story?"

Turning to walk back to the line of FReepers, I saw the backs of some men who appeared to be your usual Washington types. One guy with gray hair was telling a man walking with him that "He'll probably just find something and say that it's WMD. He'll find somebody and say that's Saddam." I realized that this guy was disparaging our President, but I was intent on photographing our FReep line and I just ignored it. Then the other FReepers' comments sunk into my brain. Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, one of my favorite candidates for the Dem. Presidential nomination (I'm thinking 40 state sweep for W), had just walked by. He was the person that the gray hair guy, apparently an aide, advisor or supporter, was talking to. As mentioned earlier, this was an up close and personal FReep of Mrs. Clinton. I had put down my digital camera and was getting ready to video tape as when a couple cars pulled up. We suspected that Hillary was cursing us as members of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy as she viewed us from about 10 feet away through the tinted glass of her car. I had my camcorder in standby mode for the longest time as we waited, still unsure if she was in the car.
I'll insert Kristinn's description of the next events:
Her Heinous' taxpayer-provided chauffer-driven sedan arrived at the hotel around 12:15 and parked about ten feet awat from us. Even though there was a small receiving party of Hilton and convention staffers waiting at the car, we weren't sure if we were being treated to a diversionary tactic while Hillary was dropped off at a rear entrance. The rear windows were blacked out; we couldn't see anyone in the back seats.
The sedan sat in the driveway for five minutes with noone exiting from it. We stood there silently holding our signs up, not wanting to yell at what might have been an empty car.
The Secret Service agent driving the sedan talked repeatedly into his walkie-talkie while he sat in the driver's seat. Another agent came out from the hotel to talk to the welcoming committee. It looked like they were trying to decide whether to let Hillary out there or drive her around the back.
The batteries in BillF's video camera died while we were waiting for something to happen. As soon as he was seen pulling the battery pack to put fresh ones in, Hillary and an aide bolted from the car.
Hillary, wearing a peach pantsuit, didn't look back at us as she exited on the hotel-facing side of the sedan. She walked swiftly past her receiving committee and through the automatic doors of the hotel as our voices rang out and carried through the open doors.
Kristinn called out to her as she stood up from leaving the car, "Senator Clinton, why are you still married to a rapist? We believe Juanita Broaddrick when she says your husband raped her." [end Kristinn's rendition]
I yelled something. I think that I yelled "Who's watching Bill?" The frustration of having my batteries fail at the crucial moment was considerable. However, the fact that Mrs. Clinton was aware of our presence and knew that she was being protested eased the frustration. Moreover, the best that the camcorder could have captured would have been two seconds of peach blur as Hillary quickly moved the 5 or 6 feet from the car door to the hotel door.
We waited for over an hour after her arrival, but Hillary's car moved away from the front door about 70 minutes after her arrival. Apparently, they gave up hoping that we would leave. They must have had to pick her up at a back door.
I'll invite others to add their recollections.
As mentioned, the DC Chapter has FReeped Hillary six times since the second week of June. Perhaps, Mrs. Clinton's speech inside the hotel that confirmed the existence of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy was partially a reflection of the FReeping that she has been subjected to across this wonderful country.
Kristinn, the co-leader of the DC Chapter, suggested on this thread that the best way to handle to Hillary's book tour was to "freep her like a rented mule."
There are quite a few Hillary booksignings left. I'll try to add a list to this thread later. However, if memory serves, Mrs. Clinton will do booksignings in St. Louis, San Diego (suburb or nearby), Mall of America, Atlanta, Portland, Cleveland, Kansas City, and Massachusetts.
Now it's your turn to "freep her like a rented mule." Organize a peaceful protest when the low flying broom descends to your locality. It's a great way to vent your opinion. Plus, the Republic that you save could be your own.
Hillary suffered the combined effects of high humidity and hijinks - as the DC Chapter "welcomed" Hillary to her non-campaign appearance.

The evil witch probably cast a spell on the batteries. Imagine if Hillary had seen Dean! She probably would have put a pox on him.
