I have heard predictions in the past that his funeral will be one of the largest ever.I'd be proud to be in that honor guard.

World War II Radio Broadcast for Armed Forces During World War IIBob Hope began most of his radio broadcasts with the words, "This is Bob [fill in name of remote location] Hope." Hope continued to entertain U.S. troops, wherever they were stationed, for fifty years. In 1997 Bob Hope was designated an honorary veteran for his humanitarian services to the United States Armed Forces by Congress. He is the only individual in history to have earned this honor.

The current crop of "comedians" could take some serious lessons from this man. There are VERY FEW who are even worthy of shining Bob Hope's shoes!

Yes it should be a big one, the Military should go all out for Bob, as he did for us for so long. Full honors and then some. Anything less would be a crime.

It's time to put up that set of golf clubs for the last time...Fare thee well, Mr. Hope. Thanks for the memories.

He was a great favorite of Queen Elizabeth's. When she visited the White House (I think it was in the 70's) she specifically requested entertainment by Bob Hope. I saw a film clip of part of that performance. He told her that the U.S. had bought the Queen Mary and London Bridge...so England didn't lose a colony, it gained an attic. The Queen laughed out loud at that one.

My Grandfather saw him in a bombed-out hangar in Germany in early 1945. Said that it was a real highlight, Mr. Hope brought a little bit of home along with him.
RIP.

USNS Bob Hope (T-AKR 300)
KUWAIT (NNS) -- USNS Bob Hope (T-AKR 300), a 949-foot long, 63,000 ton ship capable of carrying enough equipment, vehicles and supplies for an entire U.S. Army task force, steamed out of a Kuwaiti port May 13 after off-loading cargo for troops serving in Iraq.
This was Hopes second trip to the Arabian Gulf. On her first visit, Hope was the 101st ship to arrive at the principal seaport in Kuwait under the protection of the men and women of San Diego-based Naval Coastal Warfare Group 1.
On that first trip to Kuwait, Hope brought in equipment and supplies for the 101st Airborne Division, which was on its way to conduct combat operations in Iraq.

Are you sure you con't have him confused with Bing Crosby, who was really difficult? I never heard Bob was hard to work with.
