However, Johnny loves France and [to] be living in a tiny village with nothing around. There is still the possibility to live a simple life. You can go to the market, walk about, buy fruits and vegetables -- the things they did 100 and 200 years ago. We have moments when we're sitting in our house and our kids are playing, and we look at one another and think, 'Thank God we escaped.
For Johnny, buying a cucumber or a cabbage from a market is primitive living and living and being in America is a place and state of being, to escape from. Just the same, Johnny wants us all to pay U.S. dollars to see him in the movies so he can continue to badmouth the country that allowed him to become an artiste.
If anyone dare criticize that pompous little twerp for badmouthing America, it is an infringement on his first amendment rights.

Johnny Dipp can have France. I just wish he'd go all the way and take up citizenship there and relinquish his American citizenship. However, just as he won't marry the mother of his bastard children, he won't commit to France either. Just like most of the 'stars' - he's got issues.

I think it's great when people like this leave the country. If only we could be sure they'd stay gone ... if only we couldn't still hear them from France ...

Why is it that all these "uppity" types only want to move to countries that require subtitles to understand what they are saying.
Ebert gives 4 "thumbs up" to Depp in "Living in France."
"A dark story of an effete, gay like, little man lost in a sea of body odor and rudeness."

LOL! I don't think I'll see it - I'm more in the mood for a John Wayne rerun ...

Hmmm... I wonder how well that movie "Buffalo Soldiers" will do? You know, in the 70's and 60's the left owned ALL the media. They don't anymore. That is what all their rage is about.
They can't stand that people would criticize their way of thought.
In Hollywood they live in a glass bubble where they all think alike, and they really DO think they are the mainstream.... sort of amazing, isn't it?
To: westgirl123
he could do the same thing if he lived in Oklahoma.
Personally, I wouldn't live in Hollywood or Malibu either.
Depp's problem is not the USA but hollywood

It's easy to go and enjoy the simple and quaint life when you are a millionare and other people do the work in that life.

I live in such a small town we have only one stop light and that is one of those flashing ones.
He would do well here but for his appearance. Our town sheriff (part time) has a habit of rounding people up that look like Depp and transporting them to the local charitable halfway house.

On one thing the French have America beat. They don't give a damn about the Hollywood crowd. Just as we don't know French performers they don't know American ones. If Depp stays long enough they will grow tired of him. He has that talent.

Depp's problem is not the USA but hollywoodDepp's problems go beyond that. He's brilliant and has an incredible gift. That sometimes makes people see the world in a way most of us could never. Certainly not me.

Another no-talent jerk, overpaid for his pointless antics caught on film and hyped to a beliving public by media managers has spoken. If he wants to live a simple life why not Botswana? What's wrong with Paraguay? No, this clown needs the spotlight and a small village in France is near enough to the international press and an airport so he can be back basking in the glory whenever he needs it.
It's true, America is a state of mind but one has to have at least a functioning mind to enjoy it.

I liked his movies before he opened his mouth... I like them after he opened his mouth, and I'll still pay my money to watch them... At least he put his money where his mouth is, unlike some of the others... And at least he had the decency to leave, after he said he couldn't live here anymore, come on, that's the point... We trash them when they say they'll leave and don't, and then trash them again when they leave... Put up or shut up, at least he put up.

There are two types of people in the world. Givers and takers. Patriots and cowards. Lovers and haters. Lucky for France the majority of Americans like my father did not fall in the Depp category or the French would be speaking German today. Semper Fi
