Although he's making himself out to be an ignorant little twat (and we really shouldn't be suprised), he's very talented. He was wonderful in that pirate movie.
I wouldn't be suprised if he tries to "escape" from his own memories. His life hasn't been very fulfulling, by normal standards, anyway, and I can imagine how someone would get tired of Hollywood.
That doesn't give him an excuse to be an idiot, though.
