July 25, 2003 -- Months before she overdosed on medication in her parents' home, Kobe Bryant's young accuser reportedly overdosed in her college dorm, it was revealed yesterday.

News of yet another hospitalization could help Bryant's defense team cast doubt on the 19-year-old woman's credibility.

There was a lot more information when the case first broke. None of the information below is conclusive. However, I trust it as much as some of the testimony against the girl. The only thing I did was put everything together that I read and heard, the polar opposite of what the Kobebots are doing.

1. Bodyguards in room. There are several newspaper articles that suggests that Kobe sent his body guards to fetch her. Also, the first leaks said that he requested room service him and his bodyguards. The hotel employees are told that must be silent now.

1a. Bodyguards strange behavior. Several newspaper articles mention the weird behavior of Kobe's bodyguards when they follow him to hospital to provide DNA samples. Loud music to silence conversation. After they left the hospital in same cab, Kobe threw a towel on his head and they talked in hush tones. The cabbie said they were acting very weird.

2. Hotel guests saying they heard noises. Again there are several reports of hotel security going up to the room after guests complained. One story states that after security came to the room and knocked on the door, she escaped out.

3. Hotel room trashed. Once again there have been reports that the hotel room was trashed or in disarray. Also, I am lead to believe that there was plenty of physical evidence in the room, according to one newspaper article that interviewed crime lab employees working on the case.

4. Torn clothing. Several eyewitness accounts of hotel employees saying she came from the room crying and upset, with her clothes in disarray. From the crime lab employee statement of evidence being reviewed. He mentions buttons, torn clothing, even though he says he is not talking about this case, it certainly sounded like a list of things he was checking. You would have to read the article to understand, but it sounds like that they have a lot of evidence to review.

5. Physical evidence. There have been reports that her face is battered and the damage can not be covered up by makeup even three weeks later. No vain teenager beats her face I am sorry. It is also suggested that there are several defensive wounds and that the rape kit showed evidence of forceful entry. Again my source is several newspaper articles and news shows.

Haven't heard the police chief confirm any of those, though.

Neither the police chief nor the DA has commented on the specifics of any evidence they have or may have. No one expects them to as it would be moronic and against all procedures. So basically, right now, only the media are commenting on anything - and most of it pertains to the accuser's past. At some point, the evidence will be leaked. at that point, I would expect to at least see a small change in the angle of the reporting. There will be mroe to comment on than the accuser's past. Actually, I am quite surprised that nothing has been leaked yet. It could make one wonder whether the media is digging for that information at all.

>Exactly my point.

OK, though it is important to note that colleges refuse to divulge any information about students to their parents, not for the sake of some institutional goal, but because of the constraints of federal law.

There was a lot more information when the case first broke.

I noticed that too. It wasn't until the charges were filed that the rumors and stories about the accuser came out. Then all of a sudden, there is little mention of the rumors of the events that occurred at the scene of the alleged assault.

Although I have reserved judgement and want to wait for a trial, this one thing leads me to believe that their is an effort by someone to discredit the accuser while ignoring what was originally reported concerning the events that occurred around the time of teh alleged assault. I find it odd that 75% of what is talked about on television and radio, and what is discussed on the net concerns everthing BUT the events that allegedly occurred on the evening of the alleged assault.

I understand that there may be little to comment on concerning the evidence if there have been no leaks, but there are still witnesses to the demeanor of Kobe, his body guards and the accuser immediately after the alleged assault. I am waiting for those angles to get equal time.

It has been said that people on both sides should wait to see the evidence before drawing conclusions.

You must have not read his first paragraph in #161. I don't think that poster has drawn any conclusions.

I believe that, I wish we did know the evidence (the tainted jury stuff doesn't hold water, the case is tainted against her already)! However, I just presented the other side in defense of the girl, just in case he claim is true.

To be truthful the stuff that has been coming out lately has cause reasonable doubt in my mind. But, if her claim is true she is being raped twice, once by Kobe and his defenders. So, I took up the challenge to defend her. By the way, Kobe was a stupid idiot and a low life even if the charges are not true.

I did read his first paragraph. And, yes, he did note that what he was presenting was inconclusive. My message was meant to be address to "All" (my bad) and to illustrate how ridiculous this whole debate is (on both sides).

A litany of "evidence" introduced by passive phrases like "There have been reports that" is no basis for drawing conclusions. It's all bogus as far as I'm concerned. Let's wait and see what evidence is presented at trial.

Me:Well, you've found anything that tends to work against your prejudice or any statement that indicates skepticism or (forbid!) doubt as bizarre.

You:No, I haven't. You were the one to first call my posts bizarre.

Me again: I'm playing with the word bizarre. It's irrelevant that you did not use the word "bizarre." I OBVIOUSLY am referring to your resistance to the aforementioned facts or statements. I thought was clear.

I was not talking about the evidence related to the incident, but the cops taking her because she was a "danger" to herself. This was CONFIRMED by the police. It is not mere media speculation. That's to what I was referring.

Frankly, I wouldn't know; I never heard of the guy until this case broke. But is it really necessary to say such things? Is it relevant?

You are right, but I don't not want to wait until trail. If the girl's claim is true, she is being skewered now. It is strange that everything against Kobe (witness statements) has disappeared off the face of the earth.

As to my information, it is as conclusive as several of the posts against her. Her 50th best friend said that she beat her wife, OMG get a grip. Everything I stated was in print and summerized from newspaper articles, so I don't feel I am trying to mislead.

I find this "news" to be dangerous to the hundreds of thousands of young women who take anti-depressants. Does that mean their credibility is destroyed and they are now fair game for rapists because no such victim would dare report the crime after this case?

Given how many young women today have either a) been given anti-depressants or b) had multiple sexual partners, it would be darned near impossible for a woman to win a rape case on reputation alone (and perhaps its good that they can't win on reputation alone - there ought to be additional evidence). But if, to be a credible rape victim, you have to be saving yourself for marriage and never be given Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, etc., the pool of "believable" rape victims shrinks considerably.

Regarding your 1A in post 161, I think that's a stretch to view as suspicious. I doubt anyone, especially someone of Bryant's celebrity is going to be discussing a rape charge openly and without difficulty.

I think you'd hardly want a cabbie to hear that if you weren't sure what was going to happen with the case. Heck I lower my voice on the bus, I don't want people hearing my conversation, especially personal matters.

But your #s 5 and 6 are definitely problematic if true.

I think one of the issues is that unlike some of these reports(both pro and con) at least have names, like the Medina girl and the Bray and Evancho guys. With the reports of what happened in the hotel, you're not seeing any names, and that makes me suspicious.

It is my opinion and I am stating it. Here is why I came to that conclusion.

1. He had unprotected sex with a stranger he just met. He did this in front of his three body guards (Oh, alright maybe not, maybe so). Everything that I read, states that the bodyguards were in the room when room service was called. In fact, room service was for the four of them. They all had to give police statements. They followed him in a cab to the hospital and acted very strange according to the cabbie.

2. He possibly exposed his wife to several STDs or maybe even a death sentence through AIDS. For all he knew about her, she could have been a hooker in some large city servicing every man in a twenty block area, then returned to her home town to recuperate.

3. He exposed the girl to a possible pregency. This is all the world needs, is another forgotten and uncare for bastard child. His primary thought was that if he was unlucky maybe he could throw a few dollars at it (the baby) to make it go away.

4. He gambled his future earnings, just getting caught in the act of infidelity and tarnishing his reputation without the rape allegation could cost him millions of dollars.

5. He drags his wife out to face public ridicule and humiliation during his strange press conference declaring his adultry. He is a major class jerk just for this alone.

6. He buys his wife a 4 million dollar ring to placate or keep her quiet. Again, exposing her to public ridicule.

Actually the list goes on... But, just so you know where I stand, I have a slight feeling that he did rape her, but no proof (his conduct in the cab leaving the hospital, torn clothing, battered face, and his crying statement on TV rings false).

I wasn't aware that huge numbers of women in this country have made halfhearted suicide OD attempts. I would be the first to say anti-depressants are not at all a basis for undermined credibility.

But potentially histrionic personality disorder manifested as suicide attempts? That's a whole different story.

The ring was commissioned many days ago. His wife probably has known about adultery since almost right after the sheriffs came to get his DNA.

The ring is a REALLY lame story. It sheds about zero light on the incident or even credibility. or have you not thought that he has to "make up" for his misdeed and public humiliation of his wife. Like many men he thinks "flowers" are going to do the trick. We know that ain't happenin' but to look at it as a "payoff" is a stretch.

For your #5, I hardly think he dragged her to that press conference. If anything he was made to have it and his lawyers advised her to come along. heck, she may have demanded to be there! Your point is not a fact, just speculation. He had to publically admit to adultery, but it WOULD be kind of lame to do that without his wife there, don't you think?

Your other points are much stronger.

Whether she went to the news conference on the suggestion of his lawyers or free will, it was a stupid idea. There have been several newspaper articles and radio talk shows that have lamblasted the dotting wife. Oh, commit adultery, buy her a jewerly. She has been ridiculed and made fun of, whether it was her intention or his.

Kobe's wife has no downside except the ridicule. She has grounds for divorce...She has a child by Kobe...She went above and beyond what many in the same circumstances would do...She is going to be fine...As I said before however, if she were to move into the Beverly Wilshire or take an extended vacation alone, Kobe would be grass and all those involved with the case in Colorado would be the mower...
