[history]
July 25, 2003 -- Months before she overdosed on medication in her parents' home, Kobe Bryant's young accuser reportedly overdosed in her college dorm, it was revealed yesterday.
News of yet another hospitalization could help Bryant's defense team cast doubt on the 19-year-old woman's credibility.

Suicide attempts aren't exactly a viable conversation topic if one is looking for a quickie. Quickie? A man can have a quickie with his wife. This was sex with a stranger.... perhaps rape of a stranger.
To: StolarStorm
I don't know why people are attacking her or calling Kobe guilty. I'm waiting for the trial.

It needs work but the people on this thread and around the country who have already made up their mind either way are a bigger threat to justice than any attorney.

...waiting for the trial. That's why I threw OJ in there. He was acquited, yet pretty much everyone knows he was guilty. Enough money and fame can buy any justice you want. Kobe hired dirty lawyers (whitewater lawyers) for a reason. A guilty man has to use everything to win. With all the trash that's being spread about this women, he will win too. His guilt is irrelevant to the outcome.

Quickie? A man can have a quickie with his wife.
Not necessarily. A quickie by definition is a quick sexual encounter. (I can't believe I'm having to explain this.)

And I asked you Kobe worshippers I'm not a Kobe fan - in fact, I think he's a punk and have stopped following the Lakers ever since he and Shaq started playing. My issue is one of plain logic. To repeat, we have four possible outcomes:
1. he's guilty and (i) found guilty, or (ii) found not guilty
2. he innocent and (i) found guilty, or (ii) found not guilty.
The danger is the false positive; in fact, our system of jurisprudence is weighted to that false negatives (the guilty going free) occur more frequently that false positives (the innocent being imprisoned).
Since this is the case, any information that would possibly contest the prosecution's claim of rape should be carefully considered. A past history of mental instability, drug usage and attempted suicide more than qualifies.

Fortunately we don't send people to prison based on the benefit of the doubt. Beyond a reasonable doubt is the standard. You're so old-fashioned.

I can't believe you would bother. Married people can have quick sexual encounters, too - which is what I said. Quickies are not just for adulterers. Why argue?
To: StolarStorm
An accused person gets the best lawyer they can afford. Sometimes the guilty go free and sometimes the innocent go to jail. Have you got a better system? I'll listen. But OJ has nothing to do with Kobe. Have you really decided he is guilty without a trial. Hope you never get accused of anything. Supposed I accused you of a crime and the DA said you will be charged. Are you guilty? Or do you want a trial? At that trial are you just going to sit and wait to be convicted? Or are you going to hire the best lawyer you can? I didn't even know who Kobe was before BC I don't give a crap about the NBA. Let the system try him.

I have nothing to say about the article, but about the headline. I knew from the headline it was from the NY Post before I clicked on this thread. They need to quit trying to be a brittish tabloid. It's getting quite silly. I can easily spot any headline of theirs because they are so cheesy. How about a literal tabloid originality.
To: kevao
Based on what? Feeling sorry for her? Don't you want to see the evidence first? She's almost a minor. Kobe's probably been stoopin women for 10 years. She's got injuries. The DA feels he has a strong case. I feel more sorry for her than Kobe.
To: ValerieUSA
No, you argued that "you have quickies with your wife." You did not even attempt to say that "quickies are not JUST for adulterers." It was quite clear that you excluded extramarital sexual encounters in your post.
Some of your posts have been bizarre, to say the least.

A quickie by definition is a quick sexual encounter.I thought a quickie was a sudden rush to judgement before the presentation of any evidence.

The saying "A fool and his money are soon parted" comes to mind.
Whether Kobe raped this demented teenage slut or not, he deserves the grief he is getting for even having given her a second look. His wife should make an example of him for all to see by divorcing him and taking all that he has.
And we wonder why there are so many problems among young black men, when they have such pathetic role models as Kobe Bryant to follow.
It is now part and parcel of the culture of young black men that one must always have a bitch on the side.

As I won't be on the jury I am free to have an opinion of his guilt/innocence without affecting the system.
To: KeyWest
Does that mean she should have been wearing a sign saying she was unstable? Not like "super-star-jocks" could pick up on the clues either. Probably not even a neon sign.
You're right, he shoulda kept it zipped.

Yeah, Kobe should defend himself at trial to satisfy your bizarre sense of fairness.
In fact, he should just admit guilt to spare the poor girl this smearing.
OJ was being tried in a MURDER case, surely you know that there are very few false murder charges(I'm not talking about having the wrong suspect.) You can make all kinds of defenses in murder cases without smearing anyone. IN a murder case there are also several different types of evidence, and OJ had mountains of it against him.
So far, we do not know what "mountains" there are against Bryant, and even if there is significant evidence, there will never be the same certainty as the OJ case.

most of what you wrote in your post (bodyguards in room, other hotel guests saying they heard noises, hotel room trashed, torn clothing, etc) i have never heard anywhere before now from ANY news source. Are you psychic? How do you know? I am not a Kobot, but where did you get this info? or is it just speculation. Granted, if its just speculation, its pretty good, but where did it come from?
