Freeper Grassroots Movement to Re-Elect Bush
July 24, 2003 | nwrep

Posted on 07/24/2003 9:00:48 AM PDT by nwrep

I want to kick off a grass-roots movement to educate and inform discerning Democrats about the real nature of their party and am soliciting suggestions from Freepers. The reasons I am doing this are several, as listed below:

* I have several conservative Democrat friends who have always voted D, but who disagree with the stance of their party on issues like AA, tax-cuts, and regulations.

* These people do not understand that regardless of the "moderate" local Dem candidate they vote for, the party agenda is driven in Congress by an extremely liberal faction of the party.

* Case in point #1: I alerted one friend to Rep. Rangel's remarks about the death of Hussein's sons yesterday (Rangel said it was "illegal" for the US to kill them). The friend said he disagreed with Rangel, and the majority of the Dems would similarly disagree with the Congressman. I asked this friend if he knew who Rangel was. He had never heard of him. I informed him coolly that if the Dem regain the House, Rangel would become the Chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Cte., where all spending bills originate, and that he is one of the most influential members of his party in the House. The friend was shocked.

* Case in point #2: I asked another Dem friend what he thought of Kerry. He gave me a canned response about his Vietnam service, etc. I then asked him if he knew about his anti-Vietnam war stance. He said he did not, but that his parents (lifelong Dem voters like himself) hated Jane Fonda and everything she stood for. I then forwarded him the NewsMax expose of Kerr's Vietnam stance, his anti-war book, his rallies with Fonda and Ramsey Clark, and his statement to the US Senate in 1971. After reading all that, he said he was disgusted, and would forward it to his mother. He conceded that if Kerry were to be the nominee, he would vote for Bush.

* The problem is that these Dem voters are blissfully unaware of the voting records of their candidates and representatives. All they go by are finely crafted campaign statements issued during the last few weeks before the election where they pay homage to FDR, Truman and JFK. As a result, these dopey Dem voters (like my friends and their parents) continue voting for these candidates thinking they are voting for FDR/JFK-like candidates.

We need to educate these people and keep them as well informed as we Freepers are about the real day to day legislative agenda of the Rat Party. We need to highlight how they continue to vote against the best interest of these conservative, patriotic Democrats (like my friends) and how they continue to display hypocrisy by constantly changing their stance on major issues.

How do we do this?

That's weird. After seeing your reply my clock jumped ahead 45 minutes and now I'm in a chicken suit. What's up with that?

Coincidence.

I deny any involvement.

I know your concerns and share them. But Bush is the best we've got.

But what is very sad is we elected a Republican president, Republican Senate, Republican Congress, and many Republican governors. And this is all we've got from it? Not a whole lot. Our previously wealthiest state is in serious trouble --$35 billion deficits but Bush decides to waste $15 billion on African Aids? I don't believe we should be bailing out California ----but certainly we don't need to be wasting so much taxpayer money on other causes.

Best graphic on the internet!

The difference between me and you, is that I see that as a gag, you all see those silly ass little icons and ridiculous made-up names as being yourselves.

I guess you didn't like my made-up names, and now, you're calling people with made-up names to take some kind of high road.

ROTFLMAO!!!

Paper tigers and toy knights.

This is about electing politicians to advance political ideologies, this isn't some BS cult of personality idiocy.

Improving govt. efficiency with .8 million jobs put up for bid...weakening unions and cutting undeserved pay raises. Wants merit based promotions/raises only.

Endorses and promotes The Responsibility Era ("In a compassionate society, people respect one another and take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else -- to one in which every single American understands that he or she are responsible for the decisions that you make; you're responsible for loving your children with all your heart and all your soul; you're responsible for being involved with the quality of the education of your children; you're responsible for making sure the community in which you live is safe; you're responsible for loving your neighbor, just like you would like to be loved yourself. " -----this quote was too good to leave out)

Do you think there's any hope at this point or a primary challenge?

Doesn't look like any in the Republican Party. I'd like to see Ron Paul run though.

I saw yesterday that Jim Traficiant was thinking about running. If so, that would make him the most conservative candidate running from either party.

I would support Rep. Todd Akin, Missouri 2nd District. But there are numerous candidates who could unite the conservative and pro-liberty movements in both parties.

I am not familiar with Todd Akin but I will look him up.

I do love Ron Paul.

Your ancestors? You are dragging your ancestors into this? How pompous and elitist!

My family settled Kentucky, and I am descended from Squire Boone, Daniel's brother. The other branch of my family left the Highlands during the war with England. Later branches came here as immigrants from Denmark and Guernsey. You have no right to act like YOU are the sole defender of the Constitution nor that YOU have the perfect answers nor that YOU have some special claim on the nation's history.

My dad won 2 Bronze Stars in WWII. I was an Air Force wife in West Berlin. I saw Communists up close and personal and I find your divisive blathering about Republicans being socialists to be destructive.

I don't care who you campaigned for. If you were campaigning for a Republican opponent to Gephardt, then holding the values that you do, you apparently took the party's help under false pretenses.

Your attack on Republicans is absolutely destructive to this nation. Stand on your position and continue to speak out for the destruction of both parties. All that will happen if people follow your idea is that the democrats will stick together and win. I am not buying it for one minute.

And I still question your motivation. You have not explained to me how your plan would help conservatives gain control of anything.

Ron Paul, has been perhaps one of the best Constitutional purists, but he may not be quite the best for motiviating the grassroots conservatives, or the Democrat pro-liberty, pro-constituionalists and Catholics.

Todd Akin could almost instantly win the support of the displaced social conservatives (the religious right-wing) and yet he still has sufficient pragmatism and appeal to win over the blue-collar conservatives (who normally vote Democrat).

Keep in mind that there are a huge number of Democrats (40%+) who support conservative values but would never vote Republican for historical, tribal reasons.

I do not owe you a response. You have not earned the right to receive an "explanation" from me about anything.

Your ignorance of socialism tells me you really need remedial 6th grade history, not an "explanation" from me of far more advanced political concepts and strategy.

Your questioning my motivations without having a clue about me or my dedication to the Republican party in the 1990's tells me you are nothing more than a knee-jerk reactionary that is uninterested truth and reality.

Cheerleaders should stay on the side-line and look pretty. They should not attempt to play a game they do not understand.

I see. I am a sophomoric cheerleader undeserving of an explanation, while you are smarter than all of us dimwits and have a plan to take over, but only smart people will be let in on the secret.

Perhaps one reason your candidate lost to Gephardt is that you scorned those who weren't as enlightened as you. Ha!

I forgot to add.

Your questions about my "plans" (I have no plans) might begin to answered in my posts to carenot beginning at #89.

As for taking "party help" during the Gephardt campaign; there was no party help. Do you understand?

You think I am destroying the nation by demanding the removal of anti-Constitution politicians in both parties? That is like saying I am destroying a house because I am killing the termites.

Well, you go right ahead. I think you have to get some judges appointed and other such things, as well as convincing MILLIONS of people that certain programs are unconstitutional and should be elminated.

Elected officials go where the votes are. They cannot impose their unwanted positions on the population for more than one election cycle, unless, of course, you elect democrats who then will use everything in their arsenal, legal or illegal, constitutional or not, to remain in power.

I have chosen to work with the party that comes closer to what I believe; you think you can remake both parties. I believe you are wrong, and there is nothing more to say.

Fraud?

LOL!

You think that I was exposed?

Hell, if I didn't want to get caught, no one would have been able to catch me, even by tracking my ISP...but then again, I don't expect you to know that unless it's been explained to you.

I like the fact that you're in here, and unable to respond to issues, you launch personal attacks...learned a lot at Clinton's lap, didn't you?

Go on calling the cavalry, you and I are going to rock today; we'll raise a glass to the last man standing.

No I don't, but he was certainly active and out-front on the CCW propositions in Missouri when he was a State Representative.

He is a Presbyterian homeschooler. His son is attending Annapolis? (maybe Westpoint), and unlike most politicians he has been arrested defending the rights of the unborn.

But again, there are others who could lead the charge, but this movement is not necessarily about having a single leader follow a single personality to the voting booth.

This movement is much more like the 1994 take-over of Congress. It was done based on a common set of ideas and values that were well defined by the Contract for America. Most of the Republicans that were newly elected won without Republican party direct financial support. When people voted then they were not voting because Newt Gingrich was such a great leader, they were voting for their local guy because he was joining a force that was committed to implementing the Contract for America.
