Freeper Grassroots Movement to Re-Elect Bush
July 24, 2003 | nwrep

Posted on 07/24/2003 9:00:48 AM PDT by nwrep

I want to kick off a grass-roots movement to educate and inform discerning Democrats about the real nature of their party and am soliciting suggestions from Freepers. The reasons I am doing this are several, as listed below:

* I have several conservative Democrat friends who have always voted D, but who disagree with the stance of their party on issues like AA, tax-cuts, and regulations.

* These people do not understand that regardless of the "moderate" local Dem candidate they vote for, the party agenda is driven in Congress by an extremely liberal faction of the party.

* Case in point #1: I alerted one friend to Rep. Rangel's remarks about the death of Hussein's sons yesterday (Rangel said it was "illegal" for the US to kill them). The friend said he disagreed with Rangel, and the majority of the Dems would similarly disagree with the Congressman. I asked this friend if he knew who Rangel was. He had never heard of him. I informed him coolly that if the Dem regain the House, Rangel would become the Chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Cte., where all spending bills originate, and that he is one of the most influential members of his party in the House. The friend was shocked.

* Case in point #2: I asked another Dem friend what he thought of Kerry. He gave me a canned response about his Vietnam service, etc. I then asked him if he knew about his anti-Vietnam war stance. He said he did not, but that his parents (lifelong Dem voters like himself) hated Jane Fonda and everything she stood for. I then forwarded him the NewsMax expose of Kerr's Vietnam stance, his anti-war book, his rallies with Fonda and Ramsey Clark, and his statement to the US Senate in 1971. After reading all that, he said he was disgusted, and would forward it to his mother. He conceded that if Kerry were to be the nominee, he would vote for Bush.

* The problem is that these Dem voters are blissfully unaware of the voting records of their candidates and representatives. All they go by are finely crafted campaign statements issued during the last few weeks before the election where they pay homage to FDR, Truman and JFK. As a result, these dopey Dem voters (like my friends and their parents) continue voting for these candidates thinking they are voting for FDR/JFK-like candidates.

We need to educate these people and keep them as well informed as we Freepers are about the real day to day legislative agenda of the Rat Party. We need to highlight how they continue to vote against the best interest of these conservative, patriotic Democrats (like my friends) and how they continue to display hypocrisy by constantly changing their stance on major issues.

How do we do this?

Hey Toothy, glad you're back.

I would say that I am not the only individual who has violated forum guidelines and allowed to remain...am I?

But then again, you're not interested in facts, are you?

"...if the people who run this site..."

Well, at least your recent sabbatical helped you figure out that you don't run it.

I understand he is not playing partisn games, but the compromises he set forward have not helped end the partisanship. They actually appear to have moved the Republican party further to the left of center.

Which tells me, he does not feel he needs support from the conservative right. I am more than willing to oblige him. He won't see it as any great loss, if he did he wouldn't speeak so loudly with his actions.

We are at moment in history where the political pendulum is swinging back to the right. The Dems and Reps aren't noticing and are swinging away from the people. That is good for the people, if they can be educated to take advantage of it.

I think I see a policy, or maybe even a game plan, from Bush that's based on "give them enough rope"...let's take the education bill: Tedd Kennedy will have no one to blame when, in the aftermath of his bill, and having received the $$$ he said was needed to fix education, education is still broken. That's when we will get vouchers, and work on breaking the power of the teacher's unions.

How do we do this?

Seems pretty simple to me.
All you have to do is emphasize those issues where Dubya has adopted traditionally liberal positions.
Expansion of Medicare is a good example.

"Expansion of Medicare is a good example."

The baby boomers will get that expansion regardless, they will put a person in office who will do it for them.

There will be no one who will stop prescription drug benefits...it's what the people want.

Her answer. "Well the democrats give us stuff."

Teddy boy has already started covering his ass on that one. He is insisting Bush backed out of the deal and did not give as much funding as he promised.

Bush could destroy the two party monopoloy in this country, if he chose to. I don't expect it of him, but I still think it could be done.

I think there is a very good chance of a split coming in the Republican Party by those who now realize that both parties are the avowed enemies of every decendent of the American Revolution and that they will not be satisfied until all trace of us is erased.

I'll not support either party except maybe at the local level or to promote gridlock in D.C.

Both parties promote an artificially manipulated Free Trade.
Both parties support dissolving our sovereign borders.
Both parties are trying to grab the votes of fense jumpers in order to kill off the conservative vote.
Both parties are building Federal housing in small communities and stocking them with welfare addicts busy breeding gang members who quickly subject these small towns to theft, assualts, drug abuse, the works.
Both parties are growing the Federal monster.
Neither party demands government agencies function as designed but rather promote their functioning in total opposition to their design.

So where do we go from here?

Nonsense. You're just looking for ways to take swipes at Republicans.

If Republicans actually wanted to dissolve our soveriegn borders, they wouldn't have killed U.S. involvement in the International Criminal Court, or killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty, or killed the U.S. - CCCP ABM treaty. QED.

I'm not going to mindlessly support GW Bush in the primary simply because he is President.

I never inferred you did. I know you're smarter than that.

I'm simply stating that you WON'T be given the choice as anyone who will come forward will be stomped on by those who have an investment in the incumbent remaining. Plus, it would look like the candidate wasn't a team player going up against the already in power. But bottom line, you won't be given a choice within the realm of the "party" during the primary.

Plus could you imagine what a primary would do if someone took him on and hit him on the issues we see posed here everyday (some have even been banned for it. Even El Rushbo would probably be at least put in time out periodically with his analysis of certain White House events and issues supported.

Any reasonable candidate would have plenty to run against the president.

But sadly, in the party, you won't be given a choice come primary time.

Very true, Luis.
This administration is nothing but "go-with-the-flow" abandonment of principles and leadership. Avoid "negative" confrontation at all costs. Nothing is to interfere with pursuit of profits of transnational corporations. They are, after all, the ones who figured out that it's "cheaper" to extend employee health care benefits to gay "partners" than fight the negative publicity. Heck, they were probably planning all along to abandon the American workforce anyway. It's a pity that Dubya has decided to do the same thing.

So that's Dubya's "plan", eh? We're gonna bankrupt the Treasury with social welfare programs anyway, so why shouldn't he hop on the bandwagon and grab some votes for himself? It's a pretty clever strategery, Luis. No wonder he hasn't used his veto.

What are you smoking?!

The so-called "conservative" complaints against Bush all involve variations on the theme of either "spending too much" (mislabeled as "socialism" by the real hacks), signing a so-called "unconstitutional" Campaign Finance Reform bill, or not militarizing our border with Mexico to shoot illegals on sight.

Those aren't "conservative" issues so much as they are all themes of various levels of paranoid xenophobia and misguided interpretations of what precisely is and is not Constitutional (e.g. the Patriot Act is constitutional, and no one to date has shown a single sentence of its actual legal text that exceeds constitutional authority and mandates).

But that point aside, those certainly aren't positions that are even remotely popular. Of course, if your goal is to tear down the Republican Party for the next 8 years, while allowing Democrats to put into office for LIFE their choices of federal judges over that same time span, then such extremist positions are the ideal things to advocate.

I thought Presidents took an oath to uphold the Constitution..

Oh well, if you can't honor & uphold it, then you may as well just sell out, ignore it and try to buy yourself another 4 "Conservative" years in the sun.
