If Davis killed the Askew, after being shot, then wouldn't this only add to the case for concealed weapons? Unfortunately, Davis died, but it appears he could have saved other lives in killing the assailant.

Now they're saying on NY1 that a member of Gifford Miller's security detail is the one who shot and killed Askew.

They neglected to tell the Mayor, the Police Commissioner, and a Councilman that came out and said the shooter escaped with his description, that the shooter had been shot and did not escape!

Can you imagine the cops neglected to tell the Police Commissioner?

As I said, different people may hear it differently, depending upon their frame of reference.

Knowing the rally is tomorrow (I have a previous committment that precludes me from making the 6 hour drive to attend) I found his comments to be rather unprofessional in that he made them based upon incorrect information and then failed to correct his error.

I will agree with you that I may have gone a bit overboard in my comments, however I did see where several anti-smokers I am familiar with on another board took his words and ran with them blaming the ignorant smokers for the shooting in NYC. And at least one of them was very disappointed to find out the information was incorrect - right before the thread was pulled.

I hope we are both now seeing eye-to-eye!!!

Clarence Askew was the shooter. Davis was a friend of Kobe Bryant apparently. Askew's name changed from Othniel Bogz Askew to Clarence Askew. I don't know why.

Can you believe I heard one NYC cop just state that was a good thing that councilman Davis had a gun at the Council meeting because his action in using the gun to shoot back at his (guest for the day) probably saved many lives of those around them in the balcony of the Council chambers.
hmmn, I wonder if that it is not a good argument for the rest of us mortals to have guns to protect ourselves from thugs.
