I never thought it was terrorism, I just thought it was funny that that was the first thing said.
I don't live anywhere near NYC so I can imagine that this was everyones first thought, I just found it humorous.

WABC reports that a city councilman says that Davis was shot by his opponent in an upcoming election. That sounds like the kind of thing a typical New York City political candidate would do -- as if shooting your opponent in plain sight would improve your chances of winning in November.
Well, maybe it would. But even in New York it sure wouldn't improve your chances to actually take your position on the city council.

Any plans for tonight?

They make chromed and stainless steel. I've never seen a barrel painted silver though.

There may have been an insult made by Davis. NYC politicians can be pretty brutal and some people don't like to be dissed.

anybody see a next-season episode of law & order in the making?"In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories. " [KLONCK-klonck...]

Silver = Stainless steel?
To: Alberta's Child
Looks like the photo that I posted was incorrect.
Fox News just showed a photo of Davis, and Davis is a black man.

Twenty or thirty shots with a handgun? Surely he didn't have an opportunity to reload. That does sound a bit odd. And quit calling me surley.
To: Miss Marple
Correct me if I am wrong, but this seemed to be pretty intentional, and if the victims were randomly chosen, then aren't we back to terrorism? Right.... if it were random, it wouldn't have been targeted at city officials... This was somebody's personal issue, and not likely a random one.
I think the problem is that the definition of terrorism means "Muslims" and "random" or "isolated" means "not on Al Quada's direct payroll" and we get caught up in semantics. There are plenty of criminal acts that can be committed to further plenty of political agendas that have nothing to do with the middle east. Muslims do not have a 'lock' on bad public deeds in the name of politics, but our vocabulary has not caught up to the new world.

Silver = Stainless steel? likely. often referred to as chromed vs. blued

35th: Incumbent James Davis will be challenged by Tony Herbert (an aide to several elected officials over the years), perhaps Abraham Wasserman (a Crown Heights resident who ran in 2001), and maybe the unknown Othniel Boaz Askew. "I've never heard of him. Or her," Davis said.

Ooooh, Is this called playing the "I'm special because I live in NYC and 9/11 took place here card"No, it's called some are sensitive to having the realities of their lives viewed as a spectator sport. Having lived and worked in NYC I understand that, though I don't think the original comments were at all intended as such.

Rick Leventhal: Bloomberg just announced one of the two is dead. They're looking for a man in a blue suit.
