MSNBC: Alleged (Kobe Byrant) Victim seen bragging at a party 3 days later
MSNBC.COM ^ | 7/22/03 | MSNBC

Posted on 07/22/2003 8:20:57 AM PDT by Smogger

I just saw it on MSNBC. They said she was at a party a week ago, 3 days before Kobe was charged.

They said she was drinking (consumption by a minor) and playing cards, and was bragging about.....(MSNBC took out the audio at the end of sentence)

The story was confirmed by 5 people at separate places and times who were at the party and all gave a similar account of what happened.

When asked how the girl looked, the guy interviewed said she looked happy. Everyone was shocked to see her at the party given the incident.

I think someone may have even asked how hung was Kobe upon which she described with hand gestures. She seemed to be bragging according to a friend, but said she couldn't tell them what happened that night.

This just keeps getting better and better...

impeaching a President because some chick couldn't clean some stupid blue dress

Do you need directions somewhere? I find it hard to believe you're in the right place.

When a crime is committed, and the 'victim' waits until all physical evidence is gone, one begins to wonder if the 'victim' is what they claim. Is this a case of 'rape' or did the girl feel 'cheap' because Kobe didn't call her in the morning?

One can never tell, but I know personally from counseling that many women never report the crime or wait to report it because of the backlash. And it usually revolves around accuations about being "easy" or "deserving it". Silence doesnt always equate into being a liar. Just like calling the police after allegations of rape equates into telling the truth. I don't know about this girl, nor do I know Mr. Bryant. So I can't say either way in terms of their ability to tell the truth. But certainly to assume that any woman who claims rape is a liar or a gold digger is far fetched. Rape does happen. Period.

I'll pop in to quickly point out that your thread yesterday about the DA's office not knowing about the girl's background, specifically the OD, was false.

Actually, that's not quite true. The DA's spokesman, a Ms. Flanigan, flat-out told the press that the DA didn't know.

Either he didn't tell her he knew, or he didn't know, but knew how stupid he'd look if he admitted it.

So, the story was not false.

all the girl can say

That is not all she could say.

Can we agree that your wife, daughter, or grandaughter can look forward to the same level of support from you in a similar rape ?

Clever of you to take that tiny littel snip, and frame it in a completely different context, but were not talking about the victim. Were talking about her friend who confirmed the previously unknown suicide attempt, and is now in trouble with her "friend" the victim.

I was listening to the big local talk radio show here in Denver and the latest info is that there is a very "brutal" aspect to the assault and that the physical injury is still very apparent today..three weeks after the incident.

Also that there was some type of non-vaginal injury.

....If woman is the root of all evil why is Satan a man?

Red herring time, despite your prefaced "if."

The quote is "the love of money is the root of evil."

Her love of Kobe's money seems to fit.

It makes you wonder what she is like, under the "birds of a feather" theory. And it really makes you wonder about young people today. They seem so self-centered and maniuplative.

Case in point, a good friend of mine has a step-daughter who is a real player. To start off, she's a "dancer" (fancy talk for "stripper"). She hooked up with a pro football player a few months ago (I'm not a football fan, so I didn't bother to remember his name). After a few times in the sack, she ended up pregnant. He talked her into getting an abortion by paying to get her with breast implants. Well, last month we find out that she's pregnant again. But this time, she's has no desire to get another abortion...she's keeping this one so she can slam him for child support so she won't have to work for the next 20 years and will have enough cash left over to hire a nanny to take care of this kid, as well as the one she already has.

I posted to you last night that Mark Hurlbert, the DA himself, said on MSNBC last night that the representative was misquoted and the fact was they had done a thorough investigation.

That is called debunking an erroneous story.

It's called spin control. There is no way you could misinterpet the quote from the spokesperson. And the real story was the OD which they have been fighting in court to keep out of the papers (911 calls) and warning the friends not to repeat. Mark had to confirm the "real" story.

Hardly what I call a debunking.

Is that the best you've got?

Yeah, comparing perjury by the President of the United States to a basketball player cheating on his wife is really a winning argument.

Doubtful or they would have charged it as a class 2 or class 1 sexual assault, as those are defined as resulting in physical trauma. My take: After consentual sex he stuck his big penish in her butt she didn't like it and later cried rape. This is reportedly what the body guards are going to testify to according to an Italian TV station (as reported by PunkinDog)

Also that there was some type of non-vaginal injury

I know we're treading on very fragile ground here, but it seems that if there is evidence of a certain "brutality", and the girl's already been outed, the DA should get on the ball and give the sharks something to feed on. If he doesn't, his perp gets to play the media and the public (the future jury) however he likes. If the girl emerged from the hotel room with a black eye, the DA should mention it.

It also seems that most "non-vaginal" injuries (as you tactfully, if awkwardly, put it) would be visible to the same blabbermouths that are casting doubts on her story. If it's simple bruising, I'm not buying. Now, a broken jaw? There's some good evidence.

"Misquoted" is short-hand for "she shouldn't have said what she said." She was not misquoted.

She either didn't know what she was talking about, or she did, and embarrassed the hell out of the DA.

Just click your heels together three times and keep repeating "it's spin control".

LOL

The woman did not say what was attributed to her and the DA did know about the OD before deciding to file charges, no matter how you want to deny it.

Look, a person very dear to me- at 18 years old went to a party. She got drunk or was slipped something. I am not sure. The guys at the party took turns. The DA told me we could expect a vicious trial. We opted not to go to trial because we couldn't see putting our family member through what is essentially another rape by the criminal court system. She shouldn't have been at the party (rough crowd) and she shouldn't have been drinking, but she didn't deserve to be raped. She went through years of therapy, anti-depressents etc. After becoming a Christian, she was able to let it go and is now happily married and thinking about starting a family.

I feel guilty about not going to trial because these animals probably have done this again. Rape is a terrible crime and the victim is always blamed.

Kobe admitted nothing until the DNA test came in? Gee, what a novel concept. This means he lied in what way? Further, what laws did he break by not admitting that he had sex with this girl until questioned by the police? This is just a ridiculous comparison, Kobe to Clinton.

If she's got half a lawyer, she's already been warned to say nothing to the press.

Yeah, and this strategy worked REAL WELL for JUANITA BRODERICK (i.e., the "strategy" of keeping quiet).

Had Broderick come forward, at the time of the alleged crime, Bill Clinton would not have become President of the United States, some 15 years later.

In addition, had Mr. Clinton not come to power, Hillary would be unknown. Hillary would have never become a U.S. Senator and, furthermore, she would not have been able to build and sustain a staunch network of supporters, for '08.

Also it could be:

50% of all rape allegations are false (Harvard study of NYC cases).

Laws must be passed restricting any sentences over 1 year in prison to strict DNA evidence and explicit evidence of physical abuse, bruising, etc. Women come in droves to screw sports players to become impregnated and thus live the rest of their lives in the luxury of the paternity settlements which follow. Perhaps this woman wasn't lucky enough to get pregnant and thus is looking for cash a different way. Either way, the burden of proof is FAR too flimsy in rape cases, especially given the massive level of fraudulent claims.
