WE'VE ALL BEEN HOSED BY THE N.O.W. GANG: Why I Feel Sorry for Kobe

Posted on 07/18/2003 6:47:40 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl

It's the whole "NO MEANS NO" brainwashing Gen X Y and Z have been receiving since we were in kindergarten. "NO MEANS NO" no matter what position you are in, or how you got yourself there.

Here's what I think happened: this girl went up to Kobe's bedroom in the hotel, like she said. She started having intimate contact with Kobe, they ended up in bed, and while they were in the middle of the act, the girl starts freaking out that she's only 19, Kobe isn't wearing protection, and she doesn't want to get pregnant. So she starts telling him to stop. But at that point, any man in that situation doesn't have a lot of concentration going on in his brain, and Kobe naturally wanted to complete the act, so maybe he restrained her a little.

Afterward, the girl was so upset, she ran to the police or whatever, knowing what she has been taught her whole life: "NO MEANS NO" even if you went up to a guy's room at night, even if you made out with him, even if you got in bed with him and starting doing stuff. "NO MEANS NO!!!"

At what point do we as a society come back to our senses and stop telling our girls that they can do all kinds of seductive things and be in all kinds of private, intimate situations with guys and if the guy starts making moves on her and she decides she doesn't like it all of a sudden, it's all the guy's fault and he needs to go to prison for life?

Baden is a big time pathologist... He's up there with Henry Lee.

Both of whom were thoroughly disproven due to their partcipation in the bogus defense of O.J. Simpson.

The still somehow renowned Henry Lee mistook an old footprint made while the cement was being poured on Nicole's walkway for a fresh one made during the murder that pointed away from the Killer O.J. How he is still considered an "expert" has more to do with PC fear of his Asian accent than any real ability. His call of "something wrong here" consisted of nothing else.

As for Baden, in his frequent guest spots on Greta's show he has never contributed any more than I could, a person without any advanced training in any science. He states the obvious with a Dr. before his name. When he comes on the T.V. I either take a nap or change the channel. Big yawn. Never forget, he was a hired gun for O.J.

Any so-called "expert" that will sell his credibility for money no longer has any in my book. I will especially never forget anyone that profited from defending the scam trial that was OJ's. Either they willingly knew they were helping to acquit a brutal double murderer and didn't care as long as it helped them, or they were retarted. There is no other excuse or explanation.

Sorry for my rant, but I am infuriated whenever I see these two ply their trade and be received unquestionably as "experts." They are never challenged. I do not mean to take my anger out personally on you. Just a chance to make a point.

But given that folks in my neck of the woods all but convicted Packer Mark Chmura and had their minds changed during the trial--he was acquitted--I'm not going to take a side until the trial.

Whatever happened to Mark Chmura...it seems like this accusation killed his career even though he was acquitted. I never saw anyone coming to his defense like I see with Kobe Bryant...even after Chmura was acquitted...and I never saw him play football again. Must be a pigmentation issue.

This is like me imagining that I could play pro NBA starting center for the Lakers.

First of all my very ultra liberal NYC sister was just on the phone with me defending Kobe Bryant.

I was telling her that "Dream Team II" was going to rip the girl to shreds and challenge the DNA even if was taken From Kobe and DNA tested right in front of the Judge and jury and on C-Span, CNN, and MSNBC as well as FNC and the three networks.

In this case the deep pockets of the State Prosecutor will not equal the massive amounts of cash that Kobe Bryant and his PR team will throw at defense attorneys, State medical examiners (OJ had 2! Lee-CT & ?-NYS), and DNA labs.

PR firms will fill the TV screens; Jesse Jackson will ejaculate his usual tired race-baiting crud.

Guys like Johnnie Cohran will ask Kobe to "try on the condum he did not used". (Proof, therefore that he is innocent.)

The print media and broadcast can and will be bought again, as will jury pools. If not thru cash, then by the diabolical PC racist refusal to convict a popular black athlete.

For one thing, Kobe Bryant is an utter moron!

One of God's chosen and gifted golden boys, he makes megabucks more from his Nike and Sprite endorsement contracts each year then he does playing for the LA Lakers. He also has other endorsements. Just what does Kobe gross a year, $40,000,000?

Is this an mature adult willing to trade his huge present and past income for a quick roll in the hay?

Another point is that few multi-millionaire athlete's wives ever leave them; neither do wives of Bill Cosby and Jesse Jackson.

Sorry to be crude, but his wife thinks of herself, her kids, and a biggo bank account.

If she turns on Kobe it would be like Hillary turning divorcing Bill Clinton.

That does not prove that Bryant is really guilty of forcible rape, but it points out he is an ignorant unappreciative wealthy jerk.

Will all the jerks out there please argue with me here:

Kobe could have had a room full of bimbos, like Magic Johnson did; look what unprotected sex got him!

How about Herpes?

There is a lovely little take-out dish to take home to your lovely wife!

Many of us grew up and "socialized" before 100% deadly and lifetime communical diseases were rampant.

Now don't start throwing me your BS numbers about "survival"! The longer they live, the more they infect, the more they kill! AIDS is a 99% voluntary disease.

The cemetaries are full of gay doctors who "knew it all". So much for IQ and intelligence.

I myself cannot compete with my ex-NASA construction engineer brother in math or memory(he recalls everything and where it was on a page 40 years ago!) or my lib NYC sister on computer (but I beat here at HTML and) and organization skills. (yet I run circles around both in product development [inventing, etc], business marketing and sales.)

Still bugs me, but I run with what God brunged me and attempt to have 1/2 the sense of my Bluetick hound dawg Tex.

Bryant is somewhat older then this young women; is he can remember all of his playbook, he should be able to remember how much he makes playing bb and how to keep his zipper up.

It is sad to see two people destroyed like this. On other FR threads you may have read my comments:

Stay out of court. Period. when you win you lose. There is no sum of cash or amount of time that will replace what a court case can do to you.

Proving a point can be destructive to your health and welfare; you rarely have the Kobe/Skakal/OJ/Clinton bucks or juice to survive the Prosecutor's US taxpayer funded attack.

If you look at Skakal (Kennedy cuz), OJ, or Clinton you will see in their faces that cort cases and playing with the devil will age you quickly.

Doubt me?

Look at Hillary's face! My Aunt looked better at 75.

<RANT>Sorry for taking so much bandwidth!</RANT>

Happy trails......

I don't feel sorry for him either....but let us remember rape is a hate crime of violent nature and so far in his life kobe has not exhibited a violent nature....he should have never had sex outside his marriage when you do so you are at the mercy of your other partner...Uh-Oh

The D.A. must have a solid case or he would never file 3rd degree felony charges against the great and mighty Kobe Bean...yes Bean Bryant. You know any sane person would walk so far away from this case. I'll bet this...Kobe will walk. There's no jury in America (the best and brightest are not chosen to serve on juries) that will convict him...even if they believe he's guilty. Remember OJ? A replay all over again.

other people in the building reported hearing a disturbance from the Bryant room....or didn't you hear that ?

I suppose you didn't hear that she came out of the room very upset and some reports say "hysterical" and immediately reported it....

Freepers really amaze me....there is a lot of santicmony here about the law, the the elite against the little guy, and justice and equal rights and how we have supported Juanita and the rest under very similar circumstances but it all changes when the alledged rapist is a big time Hollywood athlete

then we pull a Clinton and deny, deny, deny.....

You're welcome. I'm not sure as to where you were yesterday, but I sure am glad you are where you are today.

I am no feminist and certainly no member of the hypocritical NOW, I judge every case by its merits. In this particular one I tend to find the unknown girl's story more credible than the previously untarnished Kobe's. However, all the facts are not in and I refuse to trash and condemn him unless/until I am presented with a clear cut reason to. I only wish the alleged victim was given the same courtesy here by people I otherwise consider allies.

She knows; she told the police; the police have charged Kobe.

After today's press conference, I tend to believe her on the basis that no way is that DA going to put his neck on a chopping block on flimsy evidence. Yes, that is a run on sentence. I just had an interesting conversation with my daughter and son in law just now. She thinks the girl is a skanky little golddigger, he thinks Kobe should have never put himself in that position. I mentioned the possibility of being on meds, and my girl jumped in and said that she took advantage of him. At this point, my son in law decided it was time to go home :)

from expirience D.A.'s don't need solid evidence all they need is a victom, a time, a place and the victom to identify thier attacker....even if it is not stong they still can charge them then it goes to grand jury whether to indict or not. he has been charged not indicted not even close to cinviction even if indicted...but also from experience you can't trust the system either

She didn't like the part I think where she was made to leave by Kobe with a few hundreds between her teeth IMO.

There ya go again. Man you're really stuck on that idea, aren't you?

I agree with you. I wasn't trying to obsolve Kobe of his responsibility for his actions. On the contrary, they are each to blame for the situation. I just didn't want people to give this gal a pass - because I don't think she's as much a "victim" as she claims.

Next time we see him he'll have a Bible in his hand and Jesse Jackson there to "counsel him" with God.

Slick, huh?

"Now, if 15 women come forward and say he raped them I might think differently."

What if only 14 come forward? Are you thinking, today, or what?

In the effort to be FAIR, and NOT CONVICT HIM TILL WE HEAR THE EVIDENCE, many, many Freepers are behaving disgustingly, including throwing out scenarios in which... "she asked for it." Hey, people, let it be your nineteen-year-old daughter or niece or sister.

And the suggestion that he's "clean cut," so we're all so surprised about this...is a stuning joke--on you people. Freepers are unusually smart people, yet the majority haven't yet figured out that this clean cut image we have of Kobe has been sold to us, by a PR company. It's called MARKETING, and teams of specialists do it to enhance his value in the marketplace--better contracts, more endorsements, the rest of it.

The He-never-did-it-before argument just knocks me out. You mean, A, that we know of? or B, everybody gets a pass on the first felony?

They're going to tear this girl apart--to protect this guy's value. If they win (and they probably will), there will be a tearful appearance by Kobe of his having finally come through the "ordeal."
