WE'VE ALL BEEN HOSED BY THE N.O.W. GANG: Why I Feel Sorry for Kobe
Posted on 07/18/2003 6:47:40 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl
It's the whole "NO MEANS NO" brainwashing Gen X Y and Z have been receiving since we were in kindergarten. "NO MEANS NO" no matter what position you are in, or how you got yourself there.
Here's what I think happened: this girl went up to Kobe's bedroom in the hotel, like she said. She started having intimate contact with Kobe, they ended up in bed, and while they were in the middle of the act, the girl starts freaking out that she's only 19, Kobe isn't wearing protection, and she doesn't want to get pregnant. So she starts telling him to stop. But at that point, any man in that situation doesn't have a lot of concentration going on in his brain, and Kobe naturally wanted to complete the act, so maybe he restrained her a little.
Afterward, the girl was so upset, she ran to the police or whatever, knowing what she has been taught her whole life: "NO MEANS NO" even if you went up to a guy's room at night, even if you made out with him, even if you got in bed with him and starting doing stuff. "NO MEANS NO!!!"
At what point do we as a society come back to our senses and stop telling our girls that they can do all kinds of seductive things and be in all kinds of private, intimate situations with guys and if the guy starts making moves on her and she decides she doesn't like it all of a sudden, it's all the guy's fault and he needs to go to prison for life?

so maybe he restrained her a little. I suppose you feel that if you were with a partner that said they would use protection and at that at the last momement you realized they were not, you would not object and risk pregnacy or disease;
or would you say "no" but then thank him afterwards for his consideration;
or would you put up a struggle and "may be restrained a little" ....
Which is it for you?

"Does the names Michael Irvin and Erik Williams ring a bell?"
I know Irvin was a football player for the Dallas Cowboys... Why did women accuse them of raping them and they were put on trial and found innocent?
Remember Jake Plummer... he assaulted a couple of women in a bar and he paid them to keep quiet ...

Thank goodness it wasn't I highlighting that sort of thing. : )

Why I don't feel sorry for Kobe: he's married. Any one with a spouse should never be in the circumstances that result in rape or adultery. Now go do the right thing.

"At any rate, I suppose the moral of the story is be real careful about who you sleep with....." I'm in Rome, talking to Romans. It wasn't an exhortation to sleep around. Quite the opposite.
Call me a prude, but I think this goes too far as well.
I won't be calling you a prude.
The real problem is of epidemic proportions: people are so uneducated about giving and receiving love that they will accept sex as a poor substitute.
I will call you right on target.

The difference is that Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas. It was business. Kobe and the young woman were strangers. Bill Clinton, as usual, abused his position of authority. Who knows what Kobe did or didn't do.

But that doesn't mean he has to spend the next 30 years in jail. No. More likely five with 20 parole as a sex offender with a restraint device attached to his privates.

Let's wait for the evidence before we trash this "twit" and all women as you did. Thank you.
Yesterday, on another thread I was making fun of the "all sex is rape" thing.
Suddenly, I am more disgusted with the "all rape is really just sex" thing.

Magic has some feminine mannerisms. Maybe he's bi-sexual. Lincoln-Mercury just signed to have him as their spokesman. The said he is the one athlete that 'the public most identifies with' .....

But the fact remains, if he'd kept his knickers on, he wouldn't be where he is today. And he only has himself to blame for dropping trou.

The possibilities are: he raped her. He didn't rape her. Or somewhere inbetween. He raped her; she raped him; or somewhere inbetween.

Who knows what Kobe did or didn't do. She knows; she told the police; the police have charged Kobe.

Huh? This is about an allegation of rape... Not like she had a choice of who slept with...No, but he did.....that goes a little beyond Kobe. What I'm saying is that falling into bed with someone you've known for thirty minutes has a plethora of potential problems. Is he/ she crazy? Is it Jack the Ripper? Is it someone after my kids. Someone who gets kicks spreading disease? You never know. You don't know this person at all.
To: cinFLA
She didn't like the part I think where she was made to leave by Kobe with a few hundreds between her teeth IMO.

Or it could be she completely enjoyed everything, left happy, then freaked out at home thinking she might be pregnant or have AIDS, so to explain to her parents why she needed to go to the doctor she said it was forced. Once daddy is on a rampage because his daughter has been raped it is sort of hard to change your story.
Then gain, Coby could be as guilty as hell. I just dread having to hear about it for months and months.
