I am incensed
This morning on ABCs morning program the showed about 6 soldiers from the 3rd ID. The reporter asked a question What if Donald Rumsfield was here, what would you say. The soldiers just started ranting. I would ask for his resignation
I cannot say on T.V
etc. In addition to the interview, two of the mens wives were on the program talking about how the do not trust the Army and how they promised to be home by blah blah blah. Never once did they say, our country calls and we will answer. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE! Every one of these soldiers needs a good butt kicking and a reminding that they signed up for the ARMY! Additionally, myself being a person who served 10 years in the Air Force (of which I was away from home for over half). What the hell did you think you were signing up for. I doubt that the Marines on Wake Island or the troops from the battle of the bulge would have much pity on you poor soldiers. In my mind, you just went from Hero to Zero. Take off their uniform and bring these me-first Army of one soldiers home. These individuals (not soldiers) disrespect every good soldier over there. Regarding ABC and their airing of this kind of footage. I expected nothing less.

It's called sedition, and ABC is guilty of it.

Saw it here in Germany; could it just be normal complaining from the soldiers spliced by the news men?
oh, let me introduce you to a little secret: few of us currently serving actually fully supported this war on the basis provided by the current administration. That does not detract that the end result-a people on the verge of a happier, better future. We need to do this more often, with just better post conflict planning.

Maybe a little phrase like "dishonorable..." or "Other than Honorable..."?

Guess they never heard the term " WAR is HELL". As far as I know all military people who were involved in Iraq were volunteer members of the armed forces. No one was drafted and sent there. If they were still active, court marshall their a$$es .

What the hell did you think you were signing up for? Free education?
This was discussed on many of the talk radio programs last evening. Your "hero to zero" comment sums it up. It's the prevailing attitude in this generation to whine and complain when things don't go exactly as planned.
This is why marriages are falling apart at a 50% rate. Many of todays young people have been spoiled by the freedoms that have been earned by their grand parents.
They have no respect for authority and no concept of what it's like to commit to something over the long haul.
I'd like to check on these complaining soldiers in 10 years to see how their selfish attitudes have played out in their marriages and lives.

This also made the ABC evening news last night. Pete-ah Jennings spent the first five or six minutes of the news broadcast making every effort to put the U.S. presence in Iraq in the worst possible light ... to denegrate Bush. This is the network that hired former Clintonistas Stefanopolis (sp?) and Cuomo ... it's abundantly clear this network is in full anti-Bush mode and taking it to the extreme.

What you said.
Do you think ABC vetted the soldiers beforehand to get as many anti-Army views as possible?

Early in the war, so mid-March I'd guess, I heard some stupid broad whining to a reporter about how her son didn't sign up to go kill anyone. He's just in the Army for an education.
Hel-LO . . . the Army is about killing people and breaking stuff. Even I, a humble civilian, know that.

The press will spare no effort to cast this war as another Vier Nam. This is just the latest example.

Donald Rumsfield is the Secretary of Defense and is in these soldier's chain of command. The word "courtmarshal" comes to mind. When will our soldiers learn that journalists are not our friends. They only want to hurt America and any traditional American institutiions, including the Army. JOURNALIST ARE THE ENEMY OF AMERICA!!

I didnt see the interview, but I do have to feel for these young men. How long before you would start complaining if you were being told every other day a different story about when you might go home. The powers to be owe these men a honest answer, if they are told 3 months or 12 months I think a lot of the complaining would stop.
On the other hand the media is seeking out the few who have the cajones to speak out, just to spread more dirt on the administration.

myself being a person who served 10 years in the Air Force (of which I was away from home for over half)Same with me. Spent 10 years in Navy back in the 60s (over half in Gulf of Tonkin). They should make it a court marshall offense for any GI to talk to any (non-sanctioned) media source without permission from his(her) superiors. Most of our troops are focused but some are really wusses.
