Freeper Travis McGee, has finished his much anticipated novel, Enemies Foreign and Domestic, and it has been sent off to print. His web site indicates it will be shipping in 3-4 weeks.
Click the Cover to go to the EFAD Site
He has 20 chapters of the book available online as excerpts, so you can get a real good feel of the book right there on the web site before ever ordering it.
My own review of the book, which I have been privileged to read in its entirety, is as follows...
Enemies Foreign & Domestic is as compelling a fictional novel about liberty and the 2nd amendment as you will ever read. It is packed with real life issues right off today's headlines and the political camps on both sides of the issue. It is also just a good, old-fasioned barnstorming novel that you can't put down. In his first at bat, Matthew Bracken has hit one out of the park.
Let's all congratulate Freeper Travis McGee on a job very well done...and consider getting one of his books. We have another Freeper Author in our midst and I am sure his novel is going to be picked up and taken nationally by someone. It's simply too good a read for it to be any other way, and it sends all the right messages.

Don't need to - marina is about to get possession for past-due slip fees. Wanna buy a boat? Make a good start to the FR Navy. Think of the wig! Heck, we could name it the Wig! Oh, Registered...

34 or 36 foot egg harbor, I forget. Ugly as sin, but would make a nice motor yacht - sippin' martinis, that sort of thing. Never make ten knots, regardless how you power it - but who cares? Nice location - gunfire only from dusk till dawn. Believe me.
Everybody down in that part of DC has a gun, and the shooting never stops. Amazing.

Thanks for the ping, Jeff. And congratulations, Matt. I just visited the website and read the prologue and I'm hooked already. Check will be in tomorrow morning's mail. (Gonna place this one on the shelf next to the Dragon's Fury series -- after reading it, of course. :)

It's 52 chapters, 568 pages of narrative, 260,000 words in all.
Apart from the Epilogue, the entire story takes place during the 20 days following the bogus "assault rifle massacre."

That might work in San Diego just with Freepers at a bookstore!
I do plan to take some glossy "cover proofs" up to the "Crossroads of the West" gun show in DelMar this Saturday, just sort of shop it around to the exhibitors who sell books off of their tables. I might get some wholesale bulk preorders that way.

My sincere hope is that the novel is well-written and interesting enough that its appeal will spread beyond the gun-rights "choir" to the undecided middle of the roaders. That's my hope.

Thanks! Judging by San Diego harbor, the Navy has learned a LOT since the COLE disaster. Pulling a "COLE" in San Diego bay would be a tough proposition, a terrorist would need a good diversion, and in the end to depend on luck etc to get alongside a ship.

Self published all the way. I don't have 2-3 years to go begging and pleading up and down 5th Avenue, getting shot down by the purple-haired tongue-pierced faggy socialists who are the gate keepers. No thanks, I want to control my destiny here.

When I get it, I will shop it around at work. Might drum up some interest.
Apropos, did you catch my last "splash, over?"

I hope you will read the 20 chapters on the website.
(Keeping in mind that the final-final version is even smoother than the month old version on the internet.)
BTW, the protagonist is a female, she is not just the usual tacked-on plot device thrown in to provide the macho hero someone to dialogue with.

Frankly, I think this novel is superior to UC. But that is just my opinion.

The bits I read were - UC was well researched, but clumsily written.
