Freeper Travis McGee, has finished his much anticipated novel, Enemies Foreign and Domestic, and it has been sent off to print. His web site indicates it will be shipping in 3-4 weeks.
He has 20 chapters of the book available online as excerpts, so you can get a real good feel of the book right there on the web site before ever ordering it.
My own review of the book, which I have been privileged to read in its entirety, is as follows...
Enemies Foreign & Domestic is as compelling a fictional novel about liberty and the 2nd amendment as you will ever read. It is packed with real life issues right off today's headlines and the political camps on both sides of the issue. It is also just a good, old-fasioned barnstorming novel that you can't put down. In his first at bat, Matthew Bracken has hit one out of the park.Let's all congratulate Freeper Travis McGee on a job very well done...and consider getting one of his books. We have another Freeper Author in our midst and I am sure his novel is going to be picked up and taken nationally by someone. It's simply too good a read for it to be any other way, and it sends all the right messages.
Having said that, I do relish those times when the words just come tumbling out. At those times, it's like they are in there anyway, waiting for the opportunity to take form so they can simply tell the tale for which they were intended...and you become a simple avenue or instrument that gives them shape and life.
I believe that with all my heart, and have experienced it. I also believe that there are different motivations, driving forces and inspiration (if you will) behind those words that are wainting to come out and take form...either for good or ill.
All too often, too many get caught up in words and tales that lean towards the ill...towards thoughts and philosophies that are destructive or harmful...but nonetheless get people caught up in reading them, or viewing them and placing those thoughts in their minds. We see this all around us in politics, in Hollywood, in music and other places.
I decided, and it was a conscious decision on my part, in embarking on my own writing that I would focus, irrespective of ratings or reviews, on those words that are more directed for the good. That I would bend every effort and seek guidance through prayer and through good wholesome friends in trying to give place or life for those words that tend to promote faith, honor, virtue, hard work, free will and morality...all essential ingredients for liberty.
...but, now there I go getting way to philosophical. Forgive me for getting long winded.
Best regards.
Yup! Like the classic BATF short film showing how the Branch Davidians lined up shoulder to shoulder inside the 'compound' armed with all those automatic 'assault' rifles and shot a thousand rounds through their front door at a lone agent who just dropped by for a friendly chat.
Oh, Jeez. Even a passing reference to that massacre is a sure invitation for 'Santa's little helpers' to come by and drop a few turds on the thread. Apologies in advance. ;>
The only book signing I can anticipate is just before I stick them into padded mailing envelopes.
I just called you "a free republic reader" and linked to this thread.
You may depend on it!
Here's a raised goblet to the culmination of your hard work. I hope it sells like tinks 69 during deer season.
I will be ordering my copy soon and will be recommending it to my friends.
Oh, and Matt, please don't let hollyweird get hold of it. You don't need the money that bad, do ya? ; ^ P
