A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

* Independence Day * 4th of July * America's Birthday *
The Declaration of Independence, unanimously declared by the thirteen United States of America, was adopted on July 4, 1776.
"Hallowed be the day, forever bright its memory in the heart of the Nation. Sing to it, poets; shout to it, freemen; Celebrate it with bonfires, parades and triumphant assemblies."
(Daily Alta California, 4 July 1855)
September 11, 2001
"Each of us will remember what happened that day, and to whom it happened. We'll remember the moment the news came, where we were and what we were doing...I will not forget the wound to our country and those who inflicted it. I will not yield, I will not rest, I will not relent in waging this struggle for freedom and security for the American people." ~ President George W. Bush, September 20, 2001
* God Bless America * * God Bless our Leaders * * God Bless our Warriors * and God Bless You.
From all of us to all of you, our Finest FReeper FRiends, please have a safe and enjoyable Holiday. This thread will be here all weekend for those who might be in town and want to drop in from time to time.

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Hope you find the owner of that photo.
Doncha hate when that happens? LOL!
Got my back-up disks from Best Buy and am putting a few of those files in place on my old PC. I've decided to work from here to get next week's thread done. Just haven't had the "gumption" to fire up the laptop yet. Too much *mental* work to restore all of the files back in place. I'm taking a *mental holiday* this weekend!

Hmmm!
Maybe x42 has an idea there about changing the term limits for presidents from 2 terms to 3 or more!
I'd vote for Bush every time! :O)

Who'dda thunk I'd be pre-empted so much?!!
(sniff - sob - grumble ) Have to Y-i-e-l-d to a new Flight Simulator 2002 Program for the Resident Pilot, who used to make all night flights to accommodate!
It's so complex, designed by actual pilots and having no Automatic Pilot Feature, it is time-consuming and frustrating - but satisfying when he figures out each step.
He learned how to fly as a teenager when his two much older brothers returned from WWII.
Hope everyone is enjoying this unusually lovely summer - green grass growing all around, great to tread with bare feet -
busy with bird bath and lower 'small animal drinking trough' refilling duties...:))

Sorry I didn't get back earlier to comment on this post, Colleen.
Just love the addition of Lucy and Gizmutt to the picture of The President and The First Dogs!
Bet you printed it out and framed it,
and your nieces and nephews love looking at it...:))
Good night, Colleen - hope you have an easy work week.

Several Flight Sim and Combat Programs have been played for 5 years here, dansy.
This is just another more elaborate and challenging edition!
Bernie's three oldest brothers fought in WWII.
Al was a pilot stationed in the Panama Canal Zone.
Jack fought under Patton against Rommel in North Africa and from there to Italy.
Norman went into the Navy at 17 and saw most of the major battles in the Pacific.
When Bernie was a teenager, Al and Jack taught him how to fly.
Big Problem: his 'internal gyroscope' is wired backwards and he cannot navigate well!
He's really 'into' this new one, because it is not a toy - no Automatic Pilot 'Helpsies.'
It's a serious one conducted by professional pilots, and you have to truly know how to fly, and you must go through the whole training program until you 'graduate.'
Only then do you get to fly the big jets in it.
Fantastic to see him enjoying it so much, but it's going to seriously eat into my Finest time until the novelty wears off,,,:(
Have a letter to post on the Military Monday Thread in the morning.... already have it typed and ready to copy and paste.
Goodnight, all - - -

.45MAN spent 8 years in the Air Force. Although never trained as a pilot in the service, he has moved up through the Flight Sim ranks over the past nearly 10 years (upgrading to each new version) to be able to fly commercial jets (and land them safely!) without the "Helpsies" either. He has amassed quite a few unusual planes and helicopters from download sites, including a stunt plane!
After nearly ten years of literally daily experience, (he is drooling over the latest 2003 release, but his PC is not fast enough to do justice to it) I would seriously feel comfortable with him at the controls of a real plane should an emergent situation warrant it.
Have a great Monday!
