What Are Our Options When the Constitution No Longer Protects Us?
June 30, 2003 | sweetliberty

It is heartbreaking to see what is happening to our country. We are plunging into decadence at an alarming rate and it seems that it may already be too late to turn back. Let's face it, we are fast becoming a country that our forefathers wouldn't recognize. Judges have, by and large, become activists for the socialist state. The president is dragged through the mud publicly at every opportunity by members of the opposing party, instead of being honored as our leader as he should be. Lying is as common as breathing no matter whose reputation or career might be damaged and more and more the media we once looked to for information reports only propagnada, half-truths and sometimes blatant lies. We no longer have any real security, neither as a sovreign nation with well-defined and protected borders, nor in our homes where the simple act of defending ourselves or our family can now cost us everything and even land us in prison. Our children are no longer our own to raise, but subjects of the state to be indoctrinated in the ways of "tolerance". The rights of criminals trump those of victims and of society as a whole. Marriage between a man and a woman is considered antiquated and to make a furthur mockery of a sacred institution, it is deemed desirable for the perverse practitioners of homosexuality. The evil doctrine of Islam and prayer to its false god is considered acceptable to impose upon school children, but the sacred scriptures are deemed offensive and prayer to the true God forbidden. The same people who will celebrate the slaughter of 85,000,000 innocents in the womb, will rally to spare the life of a serial murderer. We labor under an increasingly intolerable tax burden and we seem unable to do so much as get a handle on the fraud that keeps putting individuals in public office that work against the interests of the people.

When black has become white, murder is a right, lies are declared to be truth, the wrong word or even expression of belief can cost a job or even land you in jail, where do we turn? Do we continue to accept the increasing weight of the chains of political correctness and liberal tyranny? Do we keep going along with the status quo in hopes of a brighter tomorrow? Are we completely helpless to rise up and take charge of our country or are our chains already so well-forged that fighting them is futile and all we can do is moan under the weight of their burden? Is there any hope of restoring decency and common sense? Can our Republic be resurrected?

If the answer is yes, then how? It seems to matter little whether democrats or Republicans are in power, the wheels of a socialist state seem to have already been set in motion and are gaining momentum all the time. It seems that conservatives, patriots and Christians have only stayed the tide by putting a finger in the dike, but we can only hold back the flood for so long without reinforcements. Will they ever come? And if not, what then? Do we just give up, living the best we can till we die, clinging to what liberty we think we have? Or do we seek alternatives? How much do we value our liberty? Do we move away, find a deserted island somewhere? Do we secede even at the risk of another civil war? Do we challenge the government by passive resistance and noncompliance to force its collapse that we might start over? What is the answer?

I know many FReepers have given this a lot of thought and have ideas about how to cope if/when the current climate becomes unbearable. Desperate times call for desperate measures and it seems we are fast approaching desperation. The liberals would call this progress. I would call it a perilous plunge into the wells of decadence, with the glory of our past fast becoming nothing more than an echo in the ruins of a once great nation. < /rant >

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight!..Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!"- (Isaiah 5-20-23)
"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it." - Abraham Lincoln (first inaugural address)

"then they need to tolerate my intolerence with their behavior, and not expect me to hire them, rent to them, buy from them, etc...."

I wouldn 't hold my breath. This is just the first step. THAT is the problem. If they kept their deviant behavior in the bedroom where it belongs, there would be no issue. But the ruling is just the go ahead for them to impose themselves on every other person in society, encroaching on our liberties in much the same way the demands of racial minorities have, until it is ALL about them and the rest of us be d*mned. Look for queer quotas, and heaven help you if you don't hire one..hate crime. How about when little T comes home from school and says he has a boyfriend (because teacher said it was okay)? What about when a "couple" of them move in across the street and are carrying on in the front yard in full view of your house? We are becoming Sodom to the 10th power my friend, and I hate what our children and grandchildren will have to live with as a result.

Best of luck to you in your efforts T. The government need lots of thorns in their side and I have a hunch you're pretty good at it.

I responded to your thought that it was too difficult or dangerous to take on the govt, in a military fashion. I didn't advocate violence, or the overthrow of the govt, just outlined some possibilities and current news that would give food for thought and discussion.

That post, #177 was removed by one of the moderators, for reasons not explained.

In light of that, I would only ask this: If the possibility, the tactics, and methods of armed revolt is something not to be discussed among us, then why do we have the 2nd amendment?(or the 1st for that matter) I would much rather discuss such things in an open forum where it's somewhat possible that such ideas could get back to the govt and be heeded as a warning, than to wait and cower quietly until it is no longer possible to stop an open and bloody revolt.

But, I guess that some of the 'conservatives' around here are just gutless cowards..

I think Proverbs, I think it's 7, relates that the end time church/churches, will be apostate. I make it a point to avoid them. Some of them make God out to be a vending machine, drop in your coin, make your selection, pull the lever and out comes your answered prayer. If the machine is stuck, then the fault is yours. You don't have enough faith, or you have unconfessed sin in your life, etc. Silly childish beliefs.

agree that due process must be upheld, but THERE WAS DUE PROCESS in this case. The judges are supposed to make sure the arrest and conviction PROCEDURES are the same for all groups, NOT decide which groups activities should be legal or illegal

The law was invalid and unconstitutional because it allowed heterosexuals to have oral/anal sex, and made it illegal for homosexuals to do.

This is not equal protection of the law.

I may rather fancy polygamy now that consenting privacy is so cool and there are so many "abandoned", young women needing a safe, loving, PRIVATE family home.

There is no Constitutional basis for a Federal ban on Polygamy.

I agree with you on that, this is why we will not get much help from the churches across the country. Myself and my wife will not go to the churches here in Michigan anymore they have abandon Christ followings and I will have no part in them anymore.

At the very least, unconcern for the nation and the "National" government. In the end, what did in the Roman Empire was a lack of concern with the Empire and a greater desire to work for the betterment of each individual. I assure you, I as patriotic as an Old Order Amishman!

ALL LAWS ARE LEGISLATED MORALITY

Demonstrably false.

Maybe to you State worshippers. Who believe that Government = God, yeah I can see why you'd worship Law.

Explain the morality of a speed limit.
Of the Income tax
Of a labelling standard for a box of cookies.
Of past laws that made blacks slaves.

All laws are legislated morality, huh?

It's best to just shake the dust off your shoes and move on from churches like you discribe. I've been to almost everyone of them, it's the same across the spectrum. Saints needing meat and being fed baby formula.

I believe we are each born in our own time to God's own purpose. I believe in doing the work toward finding that purpose on my own with His guidance. If the blind lead the blind they both fall in a ditch describes the situation in far too many churches today.

It is ALWAYS the job of the next generation to protect the Constitution. The best we can do is get it to them alive and well. Then it's their job to get it to their children. The Constitution has never been self-protecting. Wasn't at the beginning, and never can be.

Like liberty itself, in Jefferson's words, it requires "eternal vigilance."

Your post reminded me of a dream I had once, while struggling over what was going on in the church of which I had been a memeber for many years. In the dream I saw our church full of people. Servers came out and brought food to the people. On one side of the church the people were fed from magnificent trays of what appeared to be luscious desserts of every kind and they ate and ate and the trays never ran out, but they kept eating because there was no nourishment, or even substance, in the lovely delicacies. On the other side of the church, the people were being fed the most meager of rations, and although what they received was real and nourishing it was scarcely sustaining them because there was never enough and they were emaciated and hungry.

At the time I took it as a sign that it was time to move on, as hard as that was to do, and it proved to be the right choice. Now I am thinking that perhaps it was prophetic in a way too regarding what was happening, or was going to happen, to other churches as well.

Where’s the Beef ? We can’t not even count on our churches to stand up for us in this fight, maybe we should March on Washington with about 10,000,000 conservatives and let them know what we think about the decline of our country.
