A new report argues that chimpanzees are so closely related to humans that they should be included in our branch of the tree of life. Chimpanzees and other apes have historically been separated from humans in classification schemes, with humans deemed the only living members of the hominid family of species

chimpanzees are so closely related to humans
So are bananas. Should we rate them as human?

EXCELLENT POINT!

Please read the article before making silly statements like that please.
The poster of this article did not put the ACTUAL title of the article on the post, and I am amazed that it has lasted this long.
Chimps are not going to be considered humans, they will just be moved into our family branch. That's it, that's all.

"Such events leave lots of evidence -- in the fossil record and in the genetic record. No one saw O.J. whack his wife, but the evidence most certainly points in that direction".
Evidence is wonderful, but when people take evidence and present it as fact we are all in trouble. There is barely a single "scientifically determined" date pertaining to the age of the earth, and the origin of mankind that I learned as a young man that stands today. For that matter, today's "scientific fact" is almost always tomorrow's outdated theory. The examples abound. When people are dealing with issues like apes, evolution and the origin of man, and they present their unproven theories in a fashion that makes them appear as facts, it's not the bad science that offends, it's the same old damn lies that offend peoples' sensibilities.

I will agree that Dimocrats are undoubtedly descended from chimps. Indeed it is plainly obvious that the Dimocrats are closely related to chimps.
I, however, am a direct descendant of Adam and Eve.

Geez, that's could put me in jail after half of my ex-boyfriends...

Well then move them the hell out!
I mean, I love animals just as much as the next guy, but this crap and it should be "labled" for what it is: Crap!

Good point. The apes at Yerkes were able to fill out a butterfly ballot without errors.

Yo Junior, we share 90% of our DNA with watermelons. So does that mean we must invite chimps to our 4th of July picnic?
By the way there was a story out on the tabloid ether some years ago that the Chinese had hybridized humans and chimps. Drove me bananas. The Chicom were obviously trying to panda to my lowest common denominator
To: Hodar
chimps should be reclassed as Homo troglodytes. Weren't the Homo Trolodytes a cover band for some of the 60's pop groups?
