Muslims 'draw line in the sand' in D.C. Civil rights rally touted as largest Islamic gathering in capital

U.S. Islamic activists are uniting with a leading anti-war group to hold a civil rights march and rally they tout as the largest gathering of Muslims ever in the nation's capital.

Participants in the May 24 event "will demand an end to the mounting attack on the civil rights of Muslims in America" since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, according to the organizer, the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation.

"The time has come where we must draw a line in the sand, stand up for ourselves, and demand an immediate and unconditional halt to the Bush administration's profiling, harassment, and abuse of our community," said Mahdi Bray, the foundation's executive director, in a statement.

Bray, who has called the U.S. war on terrorism a "war against Islam," joined several other Muslims in October 2001 to pray in front of the State Department and denounce U.S. military action in Afghanistan.

One of the rally's featured speakers is Brian Becker of the International A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition, an umbrella group tied to the World Workers Party, a Marxist organization that supports authoritarian regimes and communist dictatorships.

Muslims in the U.S. must reexamine their methods of activism, said Bray.

"We met with Clinton and Bush, we had tea with Hillary, but what have we brought back to the Muslim community other than pictures and press releases?" he said.

Bray added, "We must be willing to trust in Allah, intensify our dawah, make our voices heard in the streets, the ballot boxes, the cash registers and the courts, and only then will federal government officials be willing to sit down and deal with us in a serious manner. Short of that, the American Muslim leadership is fooling itself and the community."

"Dawah" is commonly understood by Muslims as inviting others to Islam, or missionary work.

The Muslim American Society's Sherifah Rafiq told WND that Bray was not referring to Muslim proselytizing but to the task of "not being afraid to explain who you are" to non-Muslims.

Rafiq, the group's national outreach coordinator, said Muslim leaders at the Memorial Day weekend event will "give the Muslim community a chance to display sensitive logical speakers who represent the majority of us."

Along with Bray, those speakers include Dr. Jamal Badawi, professor at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Siraj Wahhaj, imam of Masjid Al-Taqwa in Brookyn, New York.

Wahhaj is an advisory board member of the controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations. He was named by U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White in 1995, as one of the "unindicted persons who may be alleged as co-conspirators in the attempt to blow up New York City monuments," including the World Trade Center in 1993. Wahhaj, who has called for the U.S. government to be replaced with a Muslim caliphate, testified on behalf of Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman, who was convicted in the World Trade Center case.

Bray listed a number of grievances he says Muslims have against the Bush administration, including "the INS registration program for Muslim males and the mass arrests of those legally in the country, racial profiling by law enforcement agencies, the unreasonable closings of Islamic charities, the secret detention of hundreds of individuals, and the Bush administration's courting of anti-Muslim extremists like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell."

Along with A.N.S.W.E.R., Bray said the NAACP, AFL-CIO, and ACLU have pledged support for the event, and entertainers Harry Belafonte and Danny Glover will be at the demonstration.

Belafonte and Glover criticized the U.S. during a trip to Havana, Cuba, in December. Belafonte said the Sept. 11 attacks enabled the U.S. "to extend its imperialist, economic and political domination all over the planet."

Other speakers are the Rev. Al Sharpton, Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., and Ibrahim Ramey, director of the Peace and Disarmament Program at the Fellowship of Reconciliation, a pacifist organization based in Nyack, N.Y.

Let's have a dahwah. Let's send Franklin Graham to Baghdad.

I would be thrilled to see Franklin Graham hold an "Anti Dahwah" Rally on the same day.  Christians amass and hand out Bibles to the mohammedans.  That'd be something to see.

Wouldn't that be something to see?

You think they are crying now, that would create a real hissy fit. Can't have all those good Muslims see a Bible now, can we?

The only way they can control them is to keep information from them. Then they only know what the mullah's tell them.

to trust in Allah

There’s the root of the problem right there. But, hey, go ahead. It worked for Saddam, the Taliban and the women of Afganistan.

"The time has come where we must draw a line in the sand, stand up for ourselves, and demand an immediate and unconditional halt to the Bush administration's profiling, harassment, and abuse of our community,"

Ok, as soon as you “demand an immediate and unconditional halt” to the activities of your off shore brethren with some genuine sincerity. Of course, the ‘genuine sincerity’ may not be allowed by the Koran in dealing with American infidels.

Muslims in the U.S. must reexamine their methods of activism, said Bray.

Maybe he’s hinting that, when in crowds of innocent infidels, muslims should dress appropriately, like with c-4 lined vests.

The Muslim American Society's Sherifah Rafiq told WND that Bray was not referring to Muslim proselytizing but to the task of "not being afraid to explain who you are" to non-Muslims.

They really shouldn’t worry too much about explaining who they are

. We have gotten plenty of video in the last two years that does that.

Rafiq, the group's national outreach coordinator, said Muslim leaders at the Memorial Day weekend event will "give the Muslim community a chance to display sensitive logical speakers who represent the majority of us."

They’ve had 20 months to do this and the majority of the muslim community has been silent.

Bray, who has called the U.S. war on terrorism a "war against Islam,"

Sounds like he's admitting they are one in the same...

I wish someone could put those pictures on huge billboards within easy viewing distance of the Muslim marchers in D.C.! This march is yet another Bush Bash festival.

True, so true.  You have elaborated on the point nicely.  I can't shake the thought that there's an excellent opportunity for spreading The Word in DC on this day.  FReegards.

This can't be true. I'm sure this large gathering of Muslims will be outnumbered by the hoards of "peaceful" Muslims demonstrating against Islamic terrorists and the brutal governments that support them.

One wonders what the pressing issue is that the Muslims want heard by the government. I agree with other posters in asking where is the outrage over 9/11?

We're fortunate that American Muslims are the most peaceful, prosperous anywhere. But as long as they are the "silent majority" so to speak, they play into the hands of the terrorist.

This is an essay I posted to my blog last night, I like to hear FReeper comments.

"Final Solution" to Islamic Terrorism?

Will there ever come a moment when America and other western nations will have a Wannsee conference to devise a solution that will end terrorism forever?

I think most of us who have looked closely at the Islamic terrorist problem know deep down in our hearts what this "final solution" would have to be. But what would the Islamic terrorists have to do to trigger such a response? There are a couple of scenarios.

One is what I call a Nuclear 9/11.

Imagine that instead of four jetliners, that the Saudi-financed Islamic demons had detonated four suitcase nukes in four American cities simultaneously. Although Russia vehemently denies that the KGB ever produced such devices, there is strong and persistent Western intelligence that they indeed do exist.

Imagine the targets: lower Manhattan and Wall St. are gone , DC and the capitol are gone, the major naval facilities in San Diego and Norfolk, vaporized. You can sit and imagine and endless list of rich target possibilities. America would be crippled for sure, but not gone.

Fortunately, there are two factors that work in our favor. First, the US government has 50 plus years of planning for nuclear armageddon, the Islamists do not. We have highly survivable nuclear deterrent forces, as well as redundant capabilities to keep (at least) a functioning executive branch to pull the trigger. The tonnage of our nuclear arsenal far surpasses anything the Islamists could have procured.

The second factor is our culture of education and technological innovation. After the initial nuclear strike by the Islamic barbarians, every scientific mind in America would be put into service devising newer and more lethal means to dispatch not only our nuclear inventory, but newer technologies not yet thought of. The Islamists cannot , and most likely will not compete with this. They have not been able to produce technological innovation for at least 600 years. That's just a nasty by-product of restricting individual liberty.

So now we get to the ugly part of this scenario. After the "Nuclear 9/11" , with millions of Americans dead, America will finally have to acknowlege , in full cold reality, what Osama Bin-Laden and his ilk have been telling us for years. The ugly little secret that is deep in the hearts of many Muslims: They want all Americans, and the Jews, dead. They want America and Israel gone, ..exterminated. Only that will complete their world view.

Many Israelis feel, and I agree, that the Arabs are trying to finish what Hitler began. But most of us are too genteel to admit the ugly truth.

If the Muslims escalate their terrorist ambitions to the degree I've outlined above, the question becomes , will America and the western world finally solve this problem? And unfortunately, we know what this solution will be: eliminate every Muslim from the planet. This is the black secret that many in the western world harbor. I don't like it one bit.

The neo-conservative movement tells us that the Arabs understand only force. We've used force, in Afghanistan and Iraq, but terrorism persists. The granularity of their attacks is lower than any filter we currently have at our disposal. The liberals tell us that we must understand the "root causes" of terrorism, which in their view is poverty. We've tried pumping cash into various middle-eastern regimes to no avail.

Please note: I'm not advocating this "final solution" . But I do wonder if circumstances will align to produce it.

will demand an end to the mounting attack on the civil rights of Muslims in America

Yeh, well, we demand an end to the mounting attacks on Americans and non-Islamics in American and around the world, attacks perpetrated by Islamics in the name of Allah.

Islamists are repeating history from a dozen centuries ago. How was the problem dealt with then? It will probably have to be dealt with similarly.

>>...and only then will federal government officials be willing to sit down and deal with us in a serious manner.<<

This Islamic phenomena in our country is caused by those who foist their diversity agenda onto the backs of the American people. By promoting cultural separatism, cultural relativism, and the rights of the group over those of the individual, they are creating a circumstance not unlike the former Yugoslavia, which was Tito's failed diversity experiment.

I have visions of a very large ungovernable population of these people, if we do not cease importing them here.
