ANOTHER Pro2A Org. Bites the Dust! Hear how we can stop this from happening again Th. Eve, May 15
With the recent demise of Citizens of America - one of the most honest, sincere and flat-out smart approaches to making the general public aware of just how important our Second Amendment Rights are to EVERY citizen - it is time for us to reconsider what approaches we are using to change the tide of anti-gun, anti-freedom fervor, and ask ourselves (since we're certainly all working "hard" enough) are we working "smart" enough?

What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.
Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly (see www.BrantukForAssembly.org)
You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome.
And admission is always free.

But gosh I cringe every time I renew or pay extra because it seems like it just invites a flood of junk mail. I have quit the NRA twice because of it - I have a PO Box and they alone would fill it in a week. Had to sign back up just cause my gun club requires it.
My 2cents
In my mailbox at home I once received a "notice of attempt to deliver certified mail". I had to drive to the post office to see what it was and sign for it. It turned out to be a piece of fund-raising junk mail from the NRA. Since then, I have been redirecting my donations to other groups (GOA, California Rifle and Pistol Association).

If you declare "ATF Night" and then declare in parenthesis (A Pro 2nd Amendment Social Gathering) you are already playing catch-up.
Sounds like some more brainstorming is in order.
Best regards,
We have addressed this issue a couple of times over the past few years.
The consensus of the group continues to be that we retain the name "ATF Night" . . .
1. as an homage to the Lawyers' Second Amendment Society (who originally founded the group),
2. to show that we are a fun-loving bunch of people with a sense of humor (Adult Beverages, Cigars, Discussion of Firearms and Second Amendment issues - hence the tongue-in-cheek "ATF Night"),
and 3. that it should be obvious to the informed that "ATF" is not the same as "BATF".
