Recaption this (or explain it to me!)
May 14, 2003 | dayslate-dollarshort

I posted this to another thread yesterday and can't for the life of me, get it out of my mind. What was this kid thinking about? Recaption it if you can (I'm about speechless) or, in the alternative tell me what is going on in the minds of kids today??

James Keen, a 19-year-old from Scottsville, Ky., shows off his spilt tongue at his home Wednesday, May 7, 2003. James got his tongue split in December by a piercer after a surgeon declined to do it for him. He says the piercer used a scalpel heated by a blow torch and no anesthetic. Some say the practice, still relatively uncommon but edging up in popularity, is nothing short of mutilation. Lawmakers in Illinois are considering regulations that would all but outlaw it. This is elective surgery and poses risks of infection and heavy bleeding. There is a reason the piecer didn't use anesthetic, he is not licensed to dispense it.

At one point (I do not know about the current situation) it was illegal to tattoo above the collar in Harris Country, Texas. Tattoo artists complained because there were beauticians who were tattooing on permanent makeup (lipstick or eyeliner).

There have even been crackdowns on the non-licensed "dentists" who are fitting teeth for gold caps or other jeweled toothwear. There are health risks (primarily from contamination due to lack of sterilization) as well as a lack of medical training.

He'll wrap one part of the tongue around the cone, to hold it, while the other part licks.

They are different like everybody else. They don't realize that in their effort to proclaim "independence" they really are being conformists in the "youth movement".

Kids don't like wearing a uniform to school? What is sneakers, jeans, and a t-shirt? What's more, they know that there are certain brands that they must wear to be accepted by their friends.

I'm sure that look will get him extra points when he goes on his first job interview

That is if he's applying for a job as a circus sideshow freak.

It just keeps getting worse. Yesterdays taboos are today standards. Dumbing down America, Death of Common Sense, and Political Correctness disallowing judgements of all behaviour much less punishment for it, are just some of the many reasons for our society's plunge into the abyss.

All I know is that I'll invest all my money in the first company that invents a way to remove tattoos that is 1) cheap 2)painless and 3)guaranteed. I'll make a fortune, about 20 years from now.

That butterfly that looks sooooo sexy on some chicks butt now, won't be so cute when gravity kicks in and it's at the back of her knee.

He'll probably declare discrimination. Wait until we get a presidential candidate with significant body modifications; he'll just call it a youthful indiscretion.

I guess in his mind it is.......

From the CNN/Health article linked below:

""....he demonstrates how both forks of his tongue can move independently. And it's a plus, he says, when it comes to kissing."

Gives me the creeps just thinking about the act of kissing, but I'm a guy. I wonder what women think about the kissing thing.

I had a good laugh at a freak on the bus today who had a sword toothpick through his nose. This guy makes him look normal . . .

Just slip some earthworms in your mouth and lean in for a kiss with your significant other. She'll let you know real quick what she thinks of that squirming.

That "sexy butterfly" tatoo could instead be "Property of the Hell's Angels". I doubt that it would be so sexy then. Especially if the first time you saw it was on your honeymoon!

Good point.

Good friend of mine had his wife's name tattooed on his arm. She's now his ex-wife, and he has a large pucker scar on his bicep where it was removed.

There's always good reasons to remove tattoos. A good idea at age 18 is not always still a good idea at age 30. (or 40, or 50, etc).

I SAW THAT! Don't you dare give him anymore ideas. If he EVER tries that he will be short something other than that dollar in his Free Repubic name!

This story ran in my local rag, Cincinnati Enquirer , this morning with a little more info, including the fact that his parents gave him the $500.00 for the procedure. Unbelievable.
