[history]
Oreo cookies should be banned from sale to children in California, according to a lawsuit filed by a San Francisco attorney who claims that trans fat -- the stuff that makes the chocolate cookies crisp and their filling creamy -- is so dangerous children shouldn't eat it.

Tell me, how does Twinkies stand a chance to be included in this lawsuit? And we wonder why the legal/judicial court systems are backlogged, and their aren't enough judges to hear these all important cases...wow

Your last sentence is true enough. However, I learned early in life that weight is much more than how much a person has on the fork and how often. You are weight phobic because of your past so you have no business passing judgement on others who have not reached your state of understanding. Sadly, you have much more to learn about the issue. I feel very sorry for you.

So many things come to mind to say.. If you live long enough, you'll see people doing all sort of moronic things. Rush was right. "Kill all the lawyers" doesn't seem such a bad notion. Planters should be headquartered in California because percapita it has more nuts (morons) than anyplace on the planet only seconded by New York. That should do for now. Wait, one more, Liberals should be suid across the board for being a public nuisance.

Tell me, how does Twinkies stand a chance to be included in this lawsuit? Twinkies? That delicious creme filling has a lot of partially hydrogenated oil in it.

Calling people names like you just did is making my blood boil! You have no compassion or understanding of the obesity problem at all. Seeing the words "porker chick" and "doorway challenged" sent you into a rage?
I wonder why those words had no effect on me?
You may not assume anything, other than I'm a well adjusted adult.

Well I'm not defending this ridiculous and frivolous lawsuit. But I agree that trans-fat is not good for your system and it should be included on food labels so that people who want to avoid it can avoid it.
I gave up eating "processed" supermarket foods some time ago and I feel fantastic. Basically I avoid all supermarket foods whose list of ingredients reads like a chemistry science paper. I just stick to whole foods in their natural form such as meats, fish, vegetables, fruits and nuts. And beer and wine, of course, which are also natural products.
Now people have a right to stuff themselves with Oreo cookies and Fig Newtons if they want. That's why I think this lawsuit should be tossed out as being frivolous. But I would like to see trans-fat appear on food labels.
BTW, why do so many American food companies and fast-food restaurants have to put so much crap in their food products? Why can't they use honey instead of corn syrup? Or olive oil instead of palm or coconut oil? (Olive oil being very low in saturated fats.)

We have to get away from the idea of individual responsibility. :-j Yep, it's always someone else's fault; preferably the entity with the deepest pockets.

Just like peanuts is the worst thing some people can eat.No, not like peanuts are the worst thing for some people because that would be an alergy, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil is chock full of trans fat which is bad for everyone. If you want to eat it that is fine as I stated before it is in just about every cookie, cracker or processed food in the market.

That was my first thought that Oreos were going to be banned because it was chocolate on the outside and white in the middle. I thought maybe it was lowering the self-esteem of children.

Nabisco was one of the longest holdouts, and they were urging boycotts of Nabisco products. Finally Nabisco complied, and now it has been proven that these other substitutes are worse than the original fats. Sounds like they just need to go back to their original recipe. They can even claim to be more healthy.

Well adjusted adults have no need to use belitteling and degrading terms. Using inflamatory words such as "porker chick" etc. and whatever other nasty terms one choses to call the obese or anyone an individual disapproves of is bullying, harrassing and threatening. Doing that is guaranteed to generate hard feelings. And for the record, I can be as unPC as you can imagine, something I prefer not to do.

Today they ban Oreo cookies, tomorrow chocolate, the day after steak, eggs, bacon, then they follow with milk, and so on.
Steak, eggs, bacon = good.
Milk = not so good.
Oreos = bad (but taste good - LOL!)

Where do you get the almond flour?
I buy mine from almondsonline.com (http://www.almondsonline.com), but you can easily make your own by grinding blanched almonds in a coffee grinder or blender until they become a fine meal. Four ounces of blanched almonds makes 1 cup of almond flour.

We're a recently switched olive oil, butter only house as well. And my husband and I have cut WAY back on the carbs and feel much better for it.
Isn't it wonderful to feel good - and eat good food while you're doing it? LOL!
On the low carb note (and lipidemia for that matter), my mom, who is type 2, has been on Atkins induction for about a month and her last drs appt showed her triglycerides reduced to normal levels (down 50 points), her cholesteral in great shape and her sugar well under 120. She says she feels great, better than she has in years, her fingernails are extremely strong, skin looks great in general, and her carb urges are gone. Oh and she is off the oral meds for her diabetes and cholesterol. She asked her dr at the appointment about doing Atkins and she said, how can I argue with your chart?
Yay for your mom! It actually takes about three months to get the maximum benefits from low carbing, so she should retest in another 60 days or so. She'll be amazed.
